VN - Ren'Py - Price of Power [Ch.24] [Pandaman Games]

If there's a rating above 5 star, I'll surely award it to this game.

This is the only game here in F95 that hooked me not just into girls or lewd scenes but for the story. The medieval + sci-fi + post-apocalypse setting is really mind-blowing and interesting. The pacing and narration is great as well. The worldbuilding is done naturally and you can quickly immerse yourself in it.

The main LI, Maria, is really georgeous and compelling personality. The slow burn romance with her and the MC is natural and very wholesome (which I really liked). It's refreshing in an adult game to see a relationship that is developed realistically as the characters get along together, face adversities, and comfort each other (not through corruption or magical shenanigans). The other girl of the game, Emilia, is also beautiful and attractive.

Personally, the story is already enough to love this game but the lewd scenes are also worth the wait. This game is not just to make your fap session done. because you have to spend a lot of time to reach them. But believe me, the tension, build up, and slow burn approach of the dev makes these scenes great. And of course, the headpats and handholding made my heart melt.

Side characters are also remarkable and have outstanding personalities. From Maria's uncle (Jacob) to the benign narrative entity (Legacy), I'm pretty sure you'll get attached to them.

My only issue with this game is that it is not finished yet and I'm really intrigued to know what happened during The Fall, who are the people in the Southlands, and what really happened with Legacy (and Eve). This is only the game that made me "theorize" what might probably happen.

This game is straight to my top five games here so I hope the dev will be able to maintain the quality of this game. I highly recommend to this game for anyone looking for a game that is wholesome, adventure-packed, and with an exciting story.

Masterpiece a true hardburn masterpiece.
So peeps with patience will enjoy the developing story.
We look for ancient civilizations like Egyptian mummies but madieval civilization finding a modern civilization just wow dev just slammed the reverse Uno card..

Reviewing Price of Power [Ch. 11] (on Android via JoiPlay)

Below is a 1 to 5 star rating on parts of the game, from my amateur perspective, that I feel contributed to my overall rating.

Graphics 4.5/5 ⭐ - The renders for this game are great with good depth-of-field and good shot composition. Each scene strikes a good balance of not looking empty, like so many other game's renders do, and not being overly busy. The world around the charters looks mostly natural and lived in, although a few shots, like shots of a cabin in a clearing in the woods might look better if the cabin was not perfectly centered in the shot, I would suggests the developers use angles and the rule-of-thirds more often.

Models 4.5/5 ⭐ - Character models are really good and do not have overly exaggerated proportions as far as I can tell ( ) and look good without being perfect, very natural looking. The skin textures suffer from some of the same issues as most DAZ models do, looking a little plastic, but look better in this game than many others.

Animations 2/5 ⭐ - The animations are short and sparse, being just a series of stitched together stills but just as good in quality as the static scenes. I would have liked to see a better variety of animations during sex scenes and maybe some short animations during dialogue scenes (for example blinking, head tilts, etc.)

Story 4/5 ⭐ - First off this is a very slow-burn story that focuses on a few important parts of the MC's experiences, there is zero grinding with this game and time skips happen in narratively appropriate parts of the game. I like the premise of this story so far. The theme of the story is fun and interesting , although not unique, it's premise is reminiscent of a few animes that I that I am aware of (please note that my knowledge of anime is very limited). You have almost no choices that need to be made for this story and any choices that you do have have no consequences on how the story progress and, as narrated by the games, only affect very small parts of how the MC interacts with or deals with a problem meaning the you as the MC do not feel like you have much agency within the story. The story is very linear.

Lewdness 2/5 ⭐ - There is very little nudity and sex happening in this version of the game and you have to wait a long time before getting to these scenes.
Overall I had fun playing Price if Power and I would suggest that it is worth a play thru if you are Ok with a slow-burn story with very little lewdness. There is a lot of potential for and the story seems to be setting up for alot more story and lewd content to be added with future chapters.

Review for Price of Power [Ch. 11] -
This VN has excellent Sci fi story , great characters and slow burn wholesome romance between them and visually stunning renders and good looking female models . Writing is top notch . Overall amazing game , looking forward to the romance between MC and other female characters in the future . Highly recommended .

Possibly one of the best adult VNs I have played. The story keeps you hooked, the renders are gorgeous and the writing is well thought out. Can be easily played without a walkthrough mod too.

Recommended if you liked a game with heavy emphasis on story and writing.

The game looks great and has an interesting premise, but the characters are very dull, and the dialogue/story is so incredibly long-winded and boring that the whole thing just feels like a waste of time.

I really enjoyed this game in previous updates, but as time went on, the quality of the writing and characters degraded.

Story: Better than average. It is sci-fi though and not medieval. Dialogue for the story does get boring after awhile though

Characters: Overall, characters are poor and they say they are the "good" guys but do evil acts.
MC does not think for himself and does whatever the AIs or Maria tells him. He murders someone in cold blood also, so that is a disappointment.
Maria: Started off good, but she quickly dominates her relationship with the MC and does not value his input.
AIs: Worst part of the game. They have preachy, better-than-you attitudes; this gets progressively worse as time goes on.

Renders: Great

Overall, I think the MC and AIs make the game worse. The MC should realize/think for himself some of the time.

A charming, well-written, and often sexy visual novel, but not a porn game. (Reviewed: Ch. 11)

You are a young man in (as quickly becomes apparent) a post-apocalyptic society that has reverted to medieval-style existence. You are whisked away from your solitary life by your childhood best friend and her father to go exploring a deserted and haunted land.

Price of Power is a Visual Novel. The game's core is its plot and writing. As a serialized fantasy story it is engaging and well-written, with enough twists to keep you interested from episode to episode, the characters are charming and three-dimensional, and the renders are consistently high quality.

While there is sex in it, you can't really call Price of Power a porn game any more than you'd call a book pornographic just because it happens to contain sex scenes. There's regular nudity, and eventually sex, because that's part of the formula, but it's restrained, gradual, done in service of the plot and characters, and stays in the generally wholesome spirit of its high fantasy roots. (Think "If David Eddings wrote sex scenes", not "If George R. R. Martin downloaded Daz3d")

Ultimately, the VN does what it sets out to do, and does it well. Travelling with the characters you get to know them, enjoy their adventures, so when they actually bone, you feel invested in a way that you just don't get from the two hundred and sixty seventh iteration of Landlady And Your Roommates And All Their Friends Try A New Fetish Each Episode.

If this all sounds like the VN equivalent of watching grass grow, then Price of Power isn't for you, but for me it puts it close to the top of the list of games I'll download every update and look forward to the next.

Do you like VNs that tell an actual story and are not entirely focused on winning over as many women as possible or unlocking gallery scenes?

Do you like a slowburn romance that will eventually reward you?

Do you like a medieval/fantasy setting with a twist?

Do you like vanilla and wholesomeness?

If your answers are "yes", then Price of Power delivers, it's one of the best story driven romance VNs (with some sex) with believable and likable characters. The MC is not the usual creep or eternally horny character that will chase anything or anyone and the female love interest is written like a very loving and intelligent young woman who is in every regard the MCs equal. She's the "strong woman" written right, without ever diminishing or taking away from the male hero of the story.

There can't be enough emphasis on the fact that this is a story focused VN, this also applies to the romance which is developed alongside the central mystery. And while the story twist is not that difficult to predict (maybe it's just me but I guessed the twist pretty early on, but then again, I read tons of SciFi/Fantasy) it's still quite a nice and interesting twist that gives the story that extra ingredient to become not just your average medieval fantasy romance.

So if a slowburn wholesome romance with some sex (not tons of it and you really have to wait for it) combined with an excellent story is something you can enjoy you will hardly find anything better than Price of Power.

The writing was really good. Others are correct in that it is a very slow-burn type of game, but it is not boring. Even without early sex scenes, the writing and screens keep my attention and interest, making me want to see where the story goes rather than just see the characters naked

First of all when it comes to fantasy games I am a purist at heart. The setting and romance where it’s not hi I love you let’s make out is amazing. Most games the content where they are talking is so benign that you rush past it as it’s generally meaningless. This game the entire story and backstory draws you in immediately. I loved the story, drama, geniuine fear and emotion, and love. Now futuristic part I thought I would hate and go oh it’s another angel/demon arc, but no the writer did something really original and creative. This game blew me away and has quickly become a top five game for me now. This is a must play if you love stories and romance.

It is a well made game with amazing and interesting story, coupled with gorgeous renders. There isn't much sexual content in the early chapters as it is a slow burn story but it is still nicely paced. If you are not into vanilla sex and the story of the game doesn't matter to you, then this might not be for you, otherwise it is a must try. I just wish that aside from Maria, the MC can also have Emilia as well. Hoping for more chapters to come.

Most games that i play, i skip most of the plot/text, but this game i read completely!

focusing on one relationship makes both the characters and the overall story so much richer, really really good. The updates are also frequent while still having a bit of meat to em. I highly recommend if you are a fan games with interesting stories, compelling worlds, and sweet romance.

Its snore vanilla fest and fact of matter if your into twilight if anyone remember that story and that movie I going go limb say if this was movie they leave key points out epilogue parents lineage you find out from, "Uncle" who is big spoiler.
I watching this and I am going play only once and think I seen it before and pass it up, it has no replay-ability. Even with sneak UFO or magic element.

This has me thinking RPG and dungeon dragons but your character is archer and he limited to some skills, not all skills hunter. They get into few battles. Elements of mysterious plague that kills everyone.

I kind wish there was more scenes, before going to another continent. Because if it was RPG you would given free reign and move the character but this its so restrictive, it just "NOVEL" might well click what happens next. Don't put on renapy or VN next time. I think I understand where author was going but there are other ways this novel would went.

MC could level up before going to main continent. I gauge he was lvl 1 and other characters were lvl 5. which make his wounds were duly noted. Hunter lvl could been 8. Something for author think on lvl up skills.

Loved it , waiting for next update ! Can we add emily and no not cheating path cause it's too romantic PLEASE DON'T WASTE A GOOD STORY. I'm more than fine with maria but if hatem or anything is there and emily is possible to have a romantic relationship alongside maria then .... You know what i mean❤ . Best game ever

The amalgamation of a medieval world with sci-fi is refreshing to see at this forum and I love the fact is game is on the path to exploit that route even further. The models are beautifully rendered and the plot is amazing the only complain which I have as of writing the review are animations, I hope the dev improves upon them too as the game progresses although I won't be deducting any stars from the rating coz even without the porn part I find this game/novel would be amazing.

I'm a little surprised I didn't review this the first time I played it. But I guess I kinda had the same thought I do now. Which was to wait until there's more to this. But that's not a real option, seeing as I'll be 50 when this game get's a substantial amount to really go through. I'm not saying that is good or bad, just frustrating, and understandable. But there's enough here for me to say what I'm sure I will always think of this piece of work. I'm heavily ambivalent. And at this current sentence I'm voting three stars but that could change as I think my thoughts.

I guess I'll start with the synopsis, it's rather short so I don't think this will be as long as my other dumb reviews. You start as MC, a hunter that lives alone in a seemingly medieval town, your parents died of a plague and you've been keeping your head above water for about ten years. The civilization is a very pious, devout, puritan value type group. Which you obviously would get annoyed with considering where you currently are on the internet. But I digress. Anyhow, you're going about your daily life and run into a childhood friend, defaultedly named Maria. You spend a day catching up and the world building "no sex before marriage" rules constantly come up with how close you want to get with an old friend.

You spend a day together, learning each other's miseries, until her Uncle shows up, seemingly throwing a wrench into your plans to "blaspheme together." Aka boink like horny abstinent religious folk. A tale as old as time. Back to the uncle, he invites you to go along with them on an adventure to an island where they banish people the church doesn't like under the guise of a research expedition to learn about "The Fall." You excitedly agree to join them if nothing else to spend more time with Maria. After a risque night cuddling by a fire, having old feelings come to the surface, you journey to the new land to unlock the mysteries of the past.

You get to the island and are shocked that it's not all fire and brimstone one lakeswidth away. Soon you stumble on ruins, and set up camp to research it, but overnight trouble finds the camp. A mutant chases a woman, whose default name is Emilia, and you kill it and save her. She was a woman you were loosely courting before she was banished. Then over the next week you learn about "The Southland" from her while exploring further. Finally, you make it to a lake with an island, hoping it to be a place called "Eden." If it's not obvious the only real book that survived these times was the bible. Anyway, you drag the lake and finds a case that looks futuristic, try to open it and it explodes. You almost die and for some reason they make you drink the stuff inside hoping to heal you. And you meet Legacy. A character I've purposefully avoided talking about until now. Because the story up to this point was a flashback after the explosion.

The rest of the story is either you being in love with Maria, a Noblewoman and you a peasant. Or banter between you and Legacy. An AI that bonded to you because the liquid was nanomachines. So here's where the parts I don't care for come in. Everything Legacy related is insufferable, and it's mostly by design which adds to the frustration. Also the addition of Emilia adds nothing to the current story. You have to name her, which makes me think it will develop into a love triangle type story. However, the way the story is written at you. And I do mean AT you. I wouldn't doubt she just ends up a non threatening third character. But this story is so much a slow burn, which I might add is my favorite type of story, who knows.

So my issue with Legacy. Just about any time you'd infer any meaning or symbolism out of the story, Legacy pops in as a pseudo 4th wall break to tell you what you should or would think about what just happened. And it's like that the whole time. The story's written to act like it's smarter or better than you and especially in this context, it's infuriating. I could understand a game doing that, like a bullet hell that makes fun of you to push you to do better. But in a story that is updated bimonthly, I don't understand what making a reader feel stupid achieves. The ONLY time he doesn't interject about something is when they describe magnets, which I found a little humorous. But Legacy is a huge part of this story and I just don't like it. I'll follow the story but don't think I'll like it anymore than I do now.

The renders, both model and environment quality, are great. There's some bodily inconsistencies throughout the sexual renders, which are glaring, but not off-putting. The eyes aren't dead and lifeless like some of the other models I've seen, which I'm thankful for. And if you pick this up for a bunch of sexual content, spoiler so far, the most you get is a blowjob as of this update, so this in't the game for you. Also the blowjob is ridden in some man-made STD so that's cool.

But my final verdict is looks pretty, semi-interesting story. Worth a read once there's more.

One of amazing game with story. I mean really, there's many game that can trigger your desire, but there's not many which kinda piqued your curiosity more. This is one of such game. The art wise, the story is the thing that make this game interesting, at least for me. I just hope that Dev (Pandaman) can continue to maintain the quality.
I have said it before in some game that I feel deserved to be known, it's doesn't matter if the Dev can't update often (tho if they can, it'll be wonderful) as long as they maintain the quality. Once a month is already good, but if you can't, just take the time and just don't go AWOL as that really irresponsible.
Anyway, that's what I wanna say, I hope, my comment can become your drive to go more not to become some expectiation that burden you. Peace out

Review of Ch1-Ch8 - Been following Price of Power since April 2021 and have very much enjoyed the journey thus far. Pandaman has been weaving a very enjoyable story through the latest chapters with detailed world-building and character development. And while it may seem like a kinetic novel, he isn't even a 1/3 of the way through the thirty planned chapters, and recent updates - as well as what he has shared on his Discord - point to things changing. Pandaman is an excellent storyteller, and you can tell he has a plan for this visual novel.
There are many VNs out where lewd scenes are just there and lead the "story" if there is even one. Price of Power's lewd scenes support the story and contribute to it. If you are looking for the former, you will likely not enjoy PoP.
Pandaman's artistic style and rendering are all top-notch, and he continues to work on those items he knows he struggles with, and I have seen the improvements over the recent updates.
For someone who is doing everything for this creation (writing, art, music, coding, etc.) while holding down a full-time job in rl, he consistently has been hitting deadlines and delivering a quality AVN at the same time.
Excited to see where he takes us next.
