VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Price of Power [Ep.30] [Pandaman Games]

Started great but now is a big disappointment.

Story - 3/5, the setting is promising, a post-apocalyptic medieval-ish world after a major catastrophe. I was actually captivated by the setting when I read the first chapters. However, as the story goes on, the plot becomes too convoluted with unnecessary digressions. For a story with a cool premise, the plot eventually became boring and even repetitive at times. Now, I can't even bear myself read its long ass pointless dialogues because of its current terrible storyline. I'm not even excited to see the ending of this story.

Characters - 2/5, the only likable character for me is Emilia. MC started a strong-willed guy but now is a pathetic loser who constantly whines. The main LI eventually became annoying and almost controlling. I don't give a shit to those two women with no distinguishable personalities.

What I hate the most are the annoying AIs that took me out of immersion. The dev could have written the AIs in the different way. Instead of communicating with the MC in an annoying, anthropomorphic manner, it should be more subtle or impersonal.

Music - 3/5, adventure-themed bg music, nothing special.

Sex scenes - 1.5/5, this vn has a solid setting but because it failed to deliver a good story with interesting characters, it's not surprising that its sex scenes are terrible. MC and the main LI intimate scenes are decent but it became repetitive. I was actually looking forward for MC, main LI, and Emilia threesome but what we got is a poorly made animation with no buildup, no teasing, no seducing. You can't fap to this game's lewd scenes.

If you're looking for an avn to fap, PoP is not for you. If you're looking for an avn with well-written story, PoP is not for you. Don't waste your time to this disappointment.

Wow, what a drag. Great renders (though Emilia keeps changing her hair color and the girls look too much alike in general).

It's like when someone focuses on worldbuilding so much they forget they should actually be doing storytelling. And then the world they built here is also bland AF. Some forests, random quests, nothing that happens is meaningful, there's some weird AI breaking the 4th wall, the plot overall just sucks... in the end you're wondering "why is the dude writing all of this? who's going to want to read it?"

I guess some people like to nerd out on reading every single word for escapism, but that's not what I want out of VNs (I'd rather read from top-tier writers if that's the case) so it's a hard pass for me. If there was more sex, then that could be a redeeming quality, but as it stands this isn't readable or fappable

A very very nice wholesome romance fantasy game that is mixed in with Sci-fi and a bit of post apocalypse. To start off, the story is massive and huge. There are easily tens of thousands of words here and hours and hours of story to read. Sometimes I think maybe a bit too much. Dialogue tends to drag at certain points and I'd find myself skipping through it when it gets too heavy. The sex part of the game takes a very long time to get going, almost half of the current game actually. Aside from that, the writing is good and there are some twists here and there, but I think the big point in the writing is going to be once you get to the sci-fi stuff. See, at first you might be made to believe this is going to be a fantasy game where you head out to a post apocalyptic island full of demons and monsters, but the game quickly curveballs you because it will bend the fantasy elements into sci-fi. You'll find an AI that merges with you not too long into the game, and that's when the shift happens. Now I won't spoil anything that happens after this, since it happens early on, but it will definitely turn a lot of people off from the game immediately. Some people will enjoy it and others are going to hate it, and that is going to be the big split in the player base here. Since the girls all look great, and that there's a lot of wholesome romance like HANDHOLDING, the only other major focus is going to be the story. If you are not prepared for that, and not interested in a sci-fi twist on the fantasy setting then you won't enjoy this game at all. If you do enjoy it, then strap in for a very long and interesting story with some pretty interesting and unique twists.

Are two people creating this game - one for lewd scenes and another for the rest? Or Jekyll/Hide phenomenon? Because otherwise I can't explain why someone, who spends paragraphs and pages of text and plenty of images on description of pretty mundane topics just to create the atmosphere and build lore, would kill the potential of the well deserved sex scenes by extremely rushing them. Cut - naked - cut - fucking in single position with single unispired paragraph of text - cut - cumming - cut - dressed up and resuming previous activity or sleeping. Even with the threesome scene, that kept me mouth watering since the first hint it could happen, went this way. Suddenly everyone naked (at night in early spring). Such a waste, so much more could be gained there. The game kept me hooked for 18 chapters, so I do like it, there's lot of good stuff (as mentioned by others), but why the sex scenes, that should be the highlight and well... climax, feel rather like a ruined orgasms? And I don't mean the visual aspect, as I keep repeating, animations in pretty much all VNs suck and are expendable, but from storytelling perspective. Early softcore scenes were much better integrated to the story than the recent hardcore ones, they are like porn ads. ;-(

Well this is a high quality story, with a nice love develop. I enjoyed the first adventure and the characters interactions. To avoid spoilers, let's say there are some "entities" that help the MC through the story, they are cool too.

But quickly, this got boring...

I got sick with the bonfire and bath scenes, very repetitive... and the music doesn't help at all. So much uninteresting text...

The LIs become dumber instead of improving. Carried away with every situation, exposing valuable information, having sex when they don't know what to do to solve the problem, etc.

MC is is even dumber over time, he doesn't have blood to survive nor personality to speak for himself. With that power, responsabilities and his dream girl, I thought he would develop some balls, but he's a chicken most of the time.

Action and sex scenes are dull asf... Not what I expected for adventure.
I whis they were as detailed as the characters feelings when they speak 3 hours about the same thing again, again, and again.

I feel like the NV is a balloon that is deflating over time...

But, still this is a good VN so I don't regret the chance to read the story, and learn new things.

This AVN is kinda slow burn and the render are awesome too. And also got a nice story and Render.

I always love medieval times and this is gonna be first AVN I'm not going to harem path. Maria is enough!

*The thing is when you get to the late chapter the story is kinda rush and many important and emotional scene that can happen is skipped like MC and Maria first bed sharing and a lot of scene and devs didn't go much in detail.

The story is good and bad at the same time, i dont really mind the extreem slow burn that the game is with building a romance with a single LI, i find the refreshing to all the fuckfest games out there, so thats the good part.
Dont play this for lewd stuff, its very softcore and very few sex scenes.

The bad part is all the talk about completly useless things like trees and fauna to mention one example, its one of the reasons game feels very drawn out and it is a constant in the game with alot of dialogs/text about just nothing, the problem is the story outside the romance is 95% boring and bland with a ton of text that dosent matter and the last 5% has a bit of action like a monster attack, but its just not enough to keep the story good.

The lack of choices makes the game feel kinetic, and i had to check an extra time to see if i had missed the kinetic tag but it isent there, if there is any kind of choices to change story in some way i dont know but it dosent feel like it.

Virgin scene was very very poor, there is no deflowering and there is 0 pain and you see nothing its like a softcore scene showing no dick no pussy no noting, and the no hymen was a bit weird considering the time they live in where being a virgin is the standard since they wait for marriage, i know it can break from training on its own but it just makes it feel cheap and stupid.

When the AI story starts thats where things just become weird and it dosent really make sense, first the key is apprently a landmine and Jacob trows it away yet he still gets killed from it? then your friends feeds you some unknown fluid that also shows up out of nowhere maybe from the create which apprently dident blow up even though it was next to Jacob that got killed from it? and hes friends hope the weird fluid will heal MC? what??
After that you now share your body with an AI?

And this will mean the AI will be a constant thing doing the game, so its has pretty much turned into a futuristic storyline, personaly its not in my taste to change a story so much and i already hated the AI crap to begin with, also i cant help to feel that some tags are missing like superpowers, monster and so on.

When the second AI gets into the game it really became a shitty story and to me unplayable, MC is turned into a cold blooded murdere.....from a nice romance story to futuristic and now to being a criminal murdere, this is where nothing made any sense to me and i had to quit it, the crap about him not knowing what else he could do was stupid, he could have walked up and talked to him instend of killing, the wife already made a story up for him to do so.....so either its MC that has gone crazy or the new AI taking controle over MC to make him a murdere but either way its idiotic.

MCs two females arent even supprise and accept the fact they are now criminals and cold blooded murderes, game truely turned to shit.

It only gets worse from there on, he meets two remnants or whatever 2 girls when convince him to kill 3 raiders, even though the 2 girls could be the raiders them selfs he just trust them and start killing.
Hes wife and Emilia only see MC as a hero from all the killing he does and is more then happy about it.....its just... no...not for me.


The main story about a Uncle/Niece and MC going to explore an unknown land is fine.
The uncle talking about being the first in ages to set their foot in those lands seems a bit off when there has been plenty of people banished to those lands so hes nowhere near the first one which apprently was very importen to the uncle.

The AI/Narrative Entity, i found to be really annoying and close to ruining the game, not sure if its trying to be funny or just pointing out weird useless things, i dident find it funny and whenever it pops up it ruins the experince more then anything else, since it takes your mind out of the story and romance that is going on instend of just letting you enjoy the universe your in, its really to bad you cant turn it off in menu.
It makes it alot harder to keep the fantasy about being in the middelages going since it takes you out of that mindset as the reader when it happens, and ruins the experince atleast to me, and as story goes on it changes completly and becomes what story centers around.

The girls/LIs arent really unique, i almost thought Emilia was a twin to the Niece and i dont like that at all, if it wasent for the hair you cant tell them apart, and considering the low number of girls in game they really should be alot more unique as a main LI.
Also dident really find them hot or good looking in any way and i dident like their builds either so as for the LIs there wasent much for me, i played it for the story.
Even in harem path its only focus is bit tits and milfs, so if you like that maybe its worth playing but its still extreemly slow with anything sex wise.

Animations are very poor, they are short and mostly boring, virgin scene you see some tits moving and a side view of MC moving thats it, clearly this wasent ment as a AVN but just a novel, all sex scenes are like that very short and very boring.

Music is ok, nothing special and ive heard alot better in other games, but its still better then a silent game thats for sure.

TLDR : This one of most romantic slow burn AVN games ive seen between a LI and MC with a good focus on story that is decent. There is some negatives but not a whole lot. One of the major ones for me I went in thinking this is a story set in medieval times while in fact it's just far into the future where people want backwards to medieval times. It's more of medieval times scfi.

Story : big thing about the story don't be fooled this a medieval times games it's more medieval times with scfi or futuristic elements. But overall the story is good and interesting not amazing. But the best part of the story is it's one of the most romantic AVN games I've seen when it comes to interactions with a MC +LI. While I've played others that were plenty romantic but those just stop being romantic after a certain point while this one doesn't.

One big negative some people may not like I personally liked it. It's a slow burn story it takes something like 10 chapters to have sex but to me it felt like to progressed while albeit quickly but naturally. After that point you get a lewd sex scene every chapter. Before that point there was some lewd scenes just not sex.

Renders and animations : Render are really good for the most part especially lighting in the scenes. Animations im not the best judge of quality but when I first played this game I thought they were some of the best ive seen in a AVN but that could be just because they are high quality renders with good lighting. I saw a few other people say the animations werent great or robotic . So could be the animations aren't as good as I thought but everything else about them makes them seem better than they are. Cant say for sure but good enough that I like them alot.

Charatcers : the dialogue and writing between all the main party characters are really well done and enjoyable. I dont have anything bad to say about them.

There is one negative I do have to say but it is a spoiler.

Disclaimer: The game is not intended for emptying your balls RATHER it is for filling your hearts. If you are expecting tons of lewds, then your disappointment will be immeasurable and your day will be ruined.

Pros: great plot, early chapters have good romantic buildup, some twists (few), renders are generic but beautiful, AI companions are my fav <3 even if some find it annoying (Legacy's sarcasm is UNMATCHED), writing is decent.

Cons:

1. I wish the action scenes or tense moments would be longer. It just feels very rushed and you never feel like something bad could happen.
2. Fun time scenes also need more polishing to make them more fluid and adding extra position to prolong the scenes could go a long way to make it more romantic.
3. There's alot of just talking not much stuff happening and it kinda gets really boring. I was pretty invested so I got post chapter 10 where things get a bit better but you seriously need to consider adding more flavors like drama, action, suspense to keep people hooked otherwise it's very easy to put down and forget.
4. Wide selection of music would go well with the writing and scene setting.

Verdict: Play it for the story not for lewds. It gets a bit boring at times but post chapter 10 it gets better. Honestly if you become invested you will love the story but it get stale at times due to lack of flavors. I'm still rating it 5 since I enjoyed the plot alot and am excited to see how it unfolds.

A nice love/romance fantasy/sci-fi story. It is wonderfully wholesome for an AVN, which is quite rare. The renders look good and the characters are interesting.

It can bog down/get sidetracked in places with detailed explanations about things that aren't very interesting but I find this easy to overlook so far. The only reason I mention it is some chapters seem quite short once you take the slower scenes out (e.g. Legacy's presentations, etc).

For me chapter 18 is emotional and exciting and I enjoyed it. It was a long time coming but hopefully things progress more quickly now with the 'Maid of Honor'.

EDIT: I had to come back at the end of the game to revise my rating down to 4 stars. The game got too tedious/boring (maybe even a bit preachy) and prudish for me to continue so I eventually quite playing. Nothing exciting, interesting, mysterious or wonderful ever seems to happen!

I don't have the patience for slow burn games with very few sex scenes (and the ones that exist aren't very good), especially when the story gets boring/slow paced. A RPG system was created but it was barely even used.

The romance is not wholesome, the adventure is not epic. Instead you get a bland, boring, long winded VN where people sit/walk around all day talking about their feelings. Nothing can be less exciting...
There is sooooooo much needless conversation, it boggles the mind that this game is this highly rated. This is not slow burn, there is no burn at all.
If the game was properly edited, maybe it could be somewhat enjoyable.
And as many others stated, the narrator/AI is a very annoying, unlikable, misanthropic, fourth wall breaking pain in the ass.
The experience made me frustrated and angry.
The world building is sub par at best, it doesn't help that every render looks very generic. Bland in every way. Yet another adult game praised for it's great writing and story that turns out to be a dud.

So, I have been following this game from Chapter one and playing every 5 or so chapters because while episodic releases are ok in my books this story just keeps me hooked and dread the "oh no, its over" moment I still get even now that I am artificially increasing my wait times.

The main highlight is the writing, without spoilers there are some long conversations that really feel like that (even if it's a visual novel), arguments do seem to have weight on them and the character development seems concise through the story.

Visually it has the same issues as most 3D games, but Im honestly playing for the story and don't mind the simple textures, scenes or the aspect of the models(Im one of those that despises the big-boob plague in female models).

Overall, the best way to describe the novel is, slowburn.; it's a rewarding story if you don't mind that, or could be just that I like how my characteristical humour matches the one of a side character and I'm very biased for that ha!.

I just wish this was available in GoG, guess I'll wait . - .

I' m so glad when there's an update of this game. It has everything that I want. A MC that doesn't doublethink or thriplethink every decision, only when it is really needed, for example a tactical reason or something like that. Else he act fast. Beautiful LIs that are complex and not just eye candy. A story that's captivating and you're wondering all the time what's gonna happen next.

The renders have a high quality and the lewd scenes that we get are also good. The updates are also coming in a good interval, you never have to wait a very long time (even if waiting for this game always feel too long ).

It was easy in other words to give it a 5 star review. I decided it was time now even if I hope it will be some time more before this game is ended,

Another one of those gems with incredible story telling, characters you can actually care about, and a plot that feels new and unique. The artwork / rendering is first rate. This choices the MC is required to make feel like choices not just pick the obvious answer exercises. Lewd scenes are well done, tender when they should be, passionate when that is appropriate.

Storywise it's one of the best games on the site at the moment.
I'm a sci-fi fan and I think this game is not only can hold it's ground as an AV VM but generally as a sci-fi story as well.

The character models are nice. I really like the main LI and some of the girls introduced in later chapters. MC and the main LI come from a very religious society based on Christianity so you have to be patient for the first sex scene. Also the sex scenes are very vanilla, though main LI is quite creative so it might become wilder in the future.

I really liked the romance between MC and the main LI. Even her occasional possessiveness is cute. I'm on the harem route so I'm curious how other women will be integrated in the relationship.

Some negative points:
MC wants to protect the girls from all the bad stuff including them having to kill someone. That's a normal thing, but the result is that main LI who was introduced as a capable adventurer and someone who is very good with the sword became completely useless in all the fights. That's especially bad because she has the chance to become very strong and fight beside the MC.

My main problem was with the argument about the metal supply.
I hope this dilemma will be solved in a satisfying way if it ever comes up later in the game.

I had really high hopes for this games because of the high rates. In fact, I had played this game before and completely removed it from my mind, and now I know why.

This game is not my cup of tea. The graphic aspect is great, however the dev doesn't exploit this to make the game better. I did like that the characters blinked sometimes, that was neat.

Anyway, if your idea of a sex game is waiting 10+ chapters of the game to have short vanilla missionary sex with your fiance then this might just be the game for you! But not for me, the game felt very boring, the cast and sex scenes are bad. The narrator inserts himself in the game breaking the fourth wall. Didn't like the story either. I am giving 3 stars because it looks so good, but if it didn't it would be less.

The dev is clearly talented, so I'll wait for them to make another game that is more sexual and less romantic.

• Sex scenes are generic and uninspired. Basic animations with some rather cringy text over it.
  I think it'd be more tasteful if the dev did close ups of parts of the scene, for instance sweat on her body, lip movements, eyes, curling fingers, etc... That would fit this story more than seeing these generic Daz movements.

MISC REMARKS

• Not much choices (one or two per chapter). Some not important, but some really important. No problem with that.
• I'm a bit fearful of the planned harem route. A throuple with Maria and Emilia seems already like a stretch, but could be pulled off with good writing.
  With a full harem however I'm afraid the story will become completely unbelievable. And that'd be a real shame, because the story is just what makes this game so good.
  To sacrifice the story just to implement harem seems like a bad decision to me.

Final thoughts:
I personally like it a lot, but it's not for everyone (because of slow pacing and lots of text).

An excellent game. If you're just looking for an MC who's a slut who fucks everything on two legs, this isn't the game for you. (It looks like there'll be a maximum of only 4 girls in his harem.) If you want story and plot and character development and sex scenes within a serious relationship with an interesting girl, this game is excellent, and very rewarding.

The game doesn't feature a gallery (yet?), so make sure to save before each sex scene, as you will want to replay them

Instead of playing this game, I found myself looking through the reviews to see if I'm the only one who feels that this has turned into a borefest.

I liked the story a lot when it started out, but it no longer holds my interest. There just isn't anything interesting going on anymore. The 2 AI's are kinda annoying, the MC is a bit of a simp, and the 2 girls are just OK. Don't care too much about either of them anymore.

The whole thing is now somewhat disappointing, so I'm dropping it.
