Ren'Py - Project Atmosphere [v0.4 P5 Beta2] [Dr MAD]

I honestly really love this game, it gives me a similar vibe to Project Passion, like the flow, the style, and the way the story moves just feels familiar in a good way. At the same time, it still has its own identity that makes it stand out. The characters already feel alive, the scenes are fun to go through, and it keeps me hooked way longer than I expected. You can tell the devs actually get what players want from a game like this.


But yeah, if I’m being real, Project Passion is still a bit better overall because it just feels more polished. That doesn’t mean this game is bad though, not at all. There’s a lot of potential here, and I really hope the dev keeps pushing it further with more content, a tighter story, and maybe some visual improvements. This game is already on the right path, it just needs that little extra push to really shine.

I won't lie, initially this game was a mess with a couple of sex scenes here and there, but as of chapter 3 it really started to open up with choices and what girls you choose to pursue and how the story is finally picking up. Worth the wait as I'm never a fan of slow burns but this needed time to cook. Also while a massive fan of the incest games, I'm not so much here. I like the not related LIs way more than the sister or mom. This is also not a fuck everyone simulator as some paths block others.

As far as the main plot goes, I'm a fan of this multiverse dynamic going on. There's plenty of action and cyberpunk aesthetic to go around. The people that want to work with your org make a lot of sense because their world is a metropolis dystopia. They try to explain the science and tech behind what is happening. For what its worth I actually get excited to see where its going to go.

The love interests are varied in appearance and personality. They tend to have their own shit going on as well as being part of the mission. I adore Alice. She seems like the most normal and realistic of the mirror dimensions women. She's not too innocent or too corrupted at least as far as the current story sits. The bios menu in the game actually tracks whats going on when you have encounters with characters and how you stand with them.

All in all I think this is a a really sharp game coming together from what seemed to be a mess. The dev seems to know the story they want to tell and the mirror dimension gives the ability to not only tell the normal character interactions with the LIs, but also send you on action packed missions in the mirror where the meat of the plot drive is located. Hopefully by the end it becomes a fully fleshed out experience.

One of the most detailed games I've played of this kind. The detail is expressed not only in the appearance of the characters and surroundings, but also in the character, text and functionality in the game.

Some of the most delightful graphic 3d renders of the female anatomy around. Really. Someone has been doing their homework here! I will sacrifice a space bun or two for the kind of vaginal artistry I get here, absolutely! And oh yeah, sci-fi genetic whats-it as well.
Sure, our MC has been seen before -- don't care! His MC-ness is just as mid-range just-fine as he needs to be; not too jerky, not too submissive -- he is our Goldilocks MC, YAY.
My own personal preference is for NO SANDBOX. Hate 'em. But, okay, if I gotta do it...
Also. there were terms like "guardian", "mirror" -- even "love bud" --that had fish hooks around them, and I didn't know why. Translation overlooks? Don't know...
And about the sci-fi thing: I don't know, when you have a doctor saying "dreams may seem like reality -- you may be stuck there forever", and MC says "cool, let's do it!" Hmm...
Lastly -- I am VERY sorry about the new MC haircut. Oh well...
But the gorgeousness, and the lady parts, extra yum all through. I look forward to the story reaching their level of excellence. Good work, Doc! (And I'm very happy you got Cuba Gooding to play you in the film...)

Nice story
A lot of content , many girls , it take you in that world.
I like that the MC can choose to do more kinks and not be vanila. I hate when the MC doesn t even go down on a girl , and he only recive oral and have regular sex .
Animations are great here.

I am not sure how to rate this one. If there were a 3.5 I'd take it. Considering that I played it 2 years ago and never remembered I'll leave it at 3 until it is completed and perhaps I'll revise.
It looks quite polished but that only serves as a reminder that you can polish a lot of things without adding value or substance.

What I liked

*looks pretty, the renders are pretty
*The core concept is solid, like a re-write of the TV show Fringe with two parallel worlds and transitions between the two.

What I did not like
*The H-scenes, while getting better later in the game are not interesting, if not outright boring and lifeless. I am not talking about the visuals, they are quite good, but the setup and flow of the scenes. Most of them don't feel right to me.
*Dialogue is not easy to understand due to grammar. But the main problem for me is the quality of the writing. Cringe inducing writing is nothing new in AVNs but the stark contrast of the sleek graphics and sentences like "The scale of these problems is only a matter of a short time" is just too much.
It suggests that the writer has a rather basic level of English. Perhaps the outcome would actually be better if they wrote in their native language and used AI translation. I know, not ideal, but it could hardly be worse. Unless they are actually using machine translation already. In that case I suggest to switch to a different service.

Other things I feel like pointing out
*the faces of the girls are pretty ... until they turn into nightmare fuel. Every now and then the pretty faces get so distorted - think "Black Hole Sun". IIRC it was especially noticeable with Phoebe.
*I also noticed a few times that a character's eyes would look in different directions e.g. Alice while training or Amy after sparring. That does make sense for chameleons, I suppose, but not here.
*A lot of girls. So many in fact that by the time someone pops up again I forgot what they were about.

PROS:

1. Models are really good looking, the female models particularly are very well done.
2. Visually the game looks very impressive and renders are top quality.
3. Small animations like eyes blinking, mouth moving during normal renders are a great touch.
4. Animations during sexual encounters are brilliant, particularly later in the game when sex becomes more frequent.
5. Music is a nice touch but not other sounds are present. (that i noticed)
6. Significant and impressive details during sexual scenes that are not often seen in even the highest rated VNs I have played.

CONS:

1. No other sounds apart from music, so nothing in lewd scenes which are always a plus to have and provide that extra raunchy experience.
2. Dialogue is not great, i don't think the writer is English and should look at soliciting some assistance with a decent proof reader. This was noticed on the very first release and still is not corrected, lazy...Same goes for saying and other parts of the script, it all reads like it was roughly translated on google and doesn't make good sense.
3. Due to the dialogue/script being in the state it is, the characters come across poorly and whatever was intended just falls flat IMO.
4. Some transitions to new scenes are wasted and executed poorly e.g. doc tells MC to go home, button appears (only one, that must be clicked to continue), screen fades a bit just to have doc in front of MC giving update (there apparently was a time lapse) this is just stupidly done...
5. Sandbox feels pretty much pointless, the developer could have stuck to traditional VN without sandbox and just made a linear, story driven game.
6. Not sure what impact certain choices have on the players playthrough, if harem is actually achievable or if the MC should stick to one LI, the game is not very if at all clear on this.
7. Some choices in the game are strange and even the dialogue when it comes to sex and consequences of either having relationship with several characters, this is not always clear.

FINAL THOUGHTS & OPINIONS:

• Visually the VN is stunning, however its writing/dialogue is just horrible, the script does not flow, its unnatural and frustrating to read.
• Having the player need to click a single button to transition to a new slide/scene is just so fken stupid, its a waste of time when spacebar or left mouse click anywhere would suffice. If there are more options then it makes sense.
• While the story is somewhat intriguing, its pretty much poorly executed or conveyed through terrible writing/dialogue. This is something that needs serious attention.
• I find there are too many LI's that do not get much "airtime" and some scenes happen very quickly or suddenly, sometimes making me double back and ask when was the MC intimate with that girl. Point is that some of the MCs LI relationships are not fleshed out enough.
• I also think the worst part of this VN is that it was released in 2021 and still has not completed and the script has not even been fixed in that time...There is a decent amount of content so far, but its been a good while since the games release, there is actually plenty do still do but I am a bit worried about how infrequently the content is released.

Yet another game with pointless "free-roam" where you have nothing else to do but follow the story exactly.

"Female domination (avoidable)" this is a straight up lie as the first main scene for the MC is a forced female domination scene where the MC suddenly turns into a willing sub for no reason and later there is a second forced female domination scene, after that you do finally get the option not to see any more.

The night recaps are completely unnecessary especially with the low amount of content to recap.

The game's "choices" are all over the place, while there are "choices" for the girls, the ones at the start don't seem to do anything as even if you pick all the "choices" to not get closer with a girl the MC still desperately tries to and while later you might get a "choice" to stop being with a side character they are way too late into the girls story to consider it a romance "choice" as they have already finished the romance part, on top of that there are points that keep building with almost no user interaction and as for story "choices" i found none that changed it in any way.

The relationships don't make much sense like Why does the MC try to fu*k anything with two legs while at the same time trying to start a proper romantic relationships with other girls, is he just a scumbag?

Either the MC is especially stupid or there is no logic to the story, the whole MC meeting Mia scene was so stupid
The writing(ignoring the bad translation errors) is just horrible, nothing really makes any sense, characters think one thing but then do the opposite.

The women throw themselves at the MC like he is made of solid gold.

This game honestly feels like a kinetic novel that has been chopped up to appease fans, the game basically hinges on the player liking Jesse and/or Yui and if you don't then 90% of the dialog makes no sense.

I try to give every game a fair review BUT Try to play a game where the
dialgue background is blue and the text is so light you have to squint your eyes to read it And it doesn't help with the game having a texbox that all the way on the right side of the screen

The renders are nicely done...most of the time.

The story......is bad, it is beyond inconsistent going all over the place with people personalities changing on a whim to fit the new scene as if the writer never looks over the previous storylines to see how to continue them. Plots are constantly dropped (like dating the cinema girl) only to be completely ignored when the writer reintroduces the character later on. There are times where events that never happened based on your choices are shown up as having happened (chose not to go bdsm femdom route and some girl I never met sold me some underwear for the landlady I was not even pursuing mentioning a club I had never been to).

The MC.....I think might be one of the worst written MC's I have seen in a game like this. He starts off a nice caring guy and within a few days is a womanizing perv superman. No slight shift just a complete 180 going from fairly skinny nerdy nice guy to musclebound perv that comes off as a sexual predator.

Sandbox.....only in the case that you can chose the order of event per day, it is a linear novel that just breaks up the order things happen.

I started off liking the game but when the story got inconsistent and honestly boring I had to force myself to continue playing in the hopes it got better....it did not.

When and if the game is brought to the final stage, to the state of the goods, and the high bar is not lowered, I will buy this game and give it the highest score.

The models are very attractive but IMO the choice to creep on the women while they are sleeping completely takes me out of the game. Like its forced lewd scenes no matter how minor but it takes takes away from the character aswell as the story being pretty tedious and lacking.

Hope the MC being a creep (although choices) becomes a thing of the past in future updates.

Dropped it about 10 minutes in.

As others have said, the renders are pretty (albeit stiff), but the writing is nonsensical (AND poorly translated). And the way the dev handles text is awful. Even with text speed turned up to max, there are forced delays... that make sure... the dialogue... dribbles out in small delayed chunks. Worse, hitting enter/space skips those remaining chunks of text entirely and instead goes to the start of the next piece of dialogue instead. It is beyond obnoxious.

Delayed text and forced non-skippable transitions (in other games) are both huge pet peeves of mine as they impact the experience at the most fundamental level. The game has to be really compelling to make up for either flaw, and this one doesn't reach that bar.

This game has the best renders of any game I have ever seen. The story is fantastic and the music is great. There are so many paths through the game that to see everything it is really necessary to play more than once. I now have around 35 saved games and I am sure I have missed something. You really do not want to do that. It is just too good.

A really good game. The story is exciting and I like it (maybe because I liked playing Cyberpunk 2077). The characters look excellent for my taste, especially the dominant Susan is interesting and desirable in her own way. I played version 0.4 P2, but half a year ago. This brings me to my only point of criticism: the updates have been a long time coming. Nevertheless, this game is a gem and one of my favorites, which is why I give it 5 stars. I'm eagerly awaiting the next updates.

As others have pointed out, it is a bad translation - which makes it difficult to get into the story. The story plot is rushed, and the characters are generic & lack distinct personalities. Will leave a 2/5, even though the graphics are good its impossible for me to rate higher when the first thing that came to mind upon completing the game is "what a waste of time"

The biggest problem for me is it has some of the worst text speed I have seen in a VN, to the point where I considered deleting the game within the first few minutes of playing. Even at max speed it trickles out in parts which is disorienting when it happens every time you hit enter. I cannot tell if the developer intended for it to be so slow for dramatic effect (slow text delivery never adds dramatic effect) , or to just (unnecessarily) extend the play through time.

Pros:
- Renders are amazing
- Girls are really cute

Cons:
- English translation is horrible. People used to say for bad English that it is like "Google Translate", but Google Translate is actually good now days, this is so much worse than what google translate could produce. If you don't know Russian then this is not worth playing
- Sex scenes feel rushed, some don't even have any animations, most will have couple of renders, few lines of dialog and that is it
- Story feels rushed
