EDIT: Somehow this showed as 1 star? I must have misclicked when rating it. 4 stars, mainly due to it being incomplete.
This game...
This game is one of the greatest heartbreaks of all time, in that it is definitely ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER, but, very unfortunately, it seemingly has been abandoned.
When I first saw the page for Project Sage, I thought it was going to be some slapped-together, Japanese-theme-inspired cliche collection.
It instead turned out to be one of the most humorous, tantalizing, and just all-around well-written games I have ever played.
Seriously. The dialog is frequently ridiculously funny, very warmly human, and occasionally even thought-provoking, and the fun, ever-bubbly and positive, high energy main character is so interesting (and even believable, at times), that she is rather hard to not like.
Amazingly for a cartoon p0rn bimbo who's only real purpose in life is to ultimately be corrupted, assaulted, and humiliated, she's extremely likable, and might even induce you to feel a certain amount of *respect* for her, given how she (ahem) somewhat "sagely" chooses to pursue life.
Ofc... It doesn't hurt that some of the H-scenes she's in are.. (yeeeaeah). really, *REALLY* good.
The author does a very good job of bringing you right up to the edge (and occasionally over it), with some actually reasonable context for what someone of that background might actually do.
Tho oft not showing all that much out of the ordinary in sex scenes, the situations as set up are oft very titilating, and the internal monologue the MC has is oft what makes the scenes shine.
I find it especially amusing when she thinks things like "No, no! I shouldn't be doing this even though it feels good! I need to leave! I need to get back in control...later..."
Discipline only goes so far for her, apparently, when what is getting done to her feels good.
Of course, there are the usual over the top situations and tropes, and a fair bit of grinding (of the non pleasurable variety), but they are generally handled pretty well, navigated with some interesting outcomes from the MC actually thinking about what she's doing (and actually having some somewhat realistic responses to situations, albeit with the occasional bout of uncontrolled lust and/or exhibitionist tendencies), and balanced out with some surprisingly realistic, oft practical, and very frequently funny perspectives from the MC.
Despite some of the more questionable decisions and traits that you can cruelly force upon her by choosing her path, she's oft well aware of how some of the situations that she gets herself into would pan out in actuality, and some of her responses to negative situations, especially, are quite endearing, to the point where the character is actually quite likely to quickly get under your skin and make you smile.
It's especially amusing to repeatedly hear her think (when put into a few particularly compromising positions) something along the lines of: "What am I? Some stupid girl star in a p0rn game filled with men trying to get me into perverted situations?" Such a sweet summer child..
There are some hints in the game that the character is more than she appears to be, and more than even she is aware of, and that there was going to be quite a bit of development in that direction, although it now looks like we will never know.
Unfortunately, it looks like this is yet another abandoned project. There are any number of potential reasons why. In fact, it sounds like the author, Paperwork, may have had some very valid reasons for leaving, although no one apprently knows for sure, last I checked. A lot of it does seem to have been right after COVID first hit, and some posts that PW made indicate that was a particularly rough time for him or her.
All I can say is I wish Paperwork the best, and hope he or she succeeds in in whatever they do, and THANK YOU, Paperwork, for the game you've given us.
Of course, I also hold out a small glimmer of hope that maybe PW'll come back and finish this *GREAT* game, someday, but it's still awesome, as is.
. . .
!!! (( One addendum )) !!!
The above-listed impression of the game specifically comes from the 19d iteration, and was before I took extra time to go down the alternate paths of rejecting Hank (which does not turn out well), and choosing to believe the beach dudes over the beach kids.
The earlier, 17a release (kept around as it is "raunchier" than those that followed) is far more sexual-assault themed, and has faster corruption: it has so many blatantly "grapey" scenes, it is unbelievable that the MC's cherry isn't non-consensually popped by day 3 (there are, it should be noted, similar problems with 19d's alternate paths, which I will go into later)
In 19d, our girl seems more an actual *person*, not just a naive and pretty set of highly vulnerable holes (not that there's anything wrong with the latter in a H-game, but still..). I suspect post-17a versions were retooled specifically to get a *slower burn* to the thirsty spirit we see in 17a. This makes 19d's girl keeping her virginity for so long much more believable, as it was nearly constantly under threat in 17a unless you navigated carefully.
17a is likely preferable for those specifically looking for MCs to *quickly* get themselves into all the inevitable and humiliating grapey traps, but it's less believable and charmingly human than 19d taking its time getting there, and I can definitely appreciate that Paperwork eventually chose the latter route.
One last note:
All praise of 19d still holding, its alternate routes have frustratingly similar issues to 17a's: the main character ridiculously retains her vaginal virginity against all odds, up to including a pair of potential grapists going so far as to DRUG her with aphrodisiacs and hiring an actress to help them convince her to have sex, yet they then (when she's roofied out of her mind, they literally have her sandwiched between them, and everyone is naked) completely pass up the easy opportunity to vag/anal DP her, FOR NO APPARENT REASON other than the author not wanting them to.
When a girl says "please don't take my vagina because I'm a virgin", it is not the logical equivalent of her wearing a locked steel chastity belt: guys can can still go there, and those who have ill intent, and opportunity, likely will.
Paperwork seems to have an excessive fixation on anal sex, and a lack of understanding of how actual aroused men respond to women. My guess is PW is a male author with anal preference who doesn't have full perspective on how highly aroused males (after a huge buildup and after they've been **actively trying to trick/drug her into intercourse**), will respond to a woman telling them they can only go with anal sex, and especially if she suddenly tells them they can't have any sex **just because they can't fit in her ass**: the almost certain response to either is the man says "Oops! Sorry! Wrong hole!" and forcefully penetrates her pvssy (which will almost certainly be able to accommodate their cocks unless she has an incredibly small vagina, since the vag is a larger opening than the anus [even given she has been training her butt], that's what it does and is for, and it's the *GLARINGLY OBVIOUS* solution when you can't fit it in her ass) and fvcks her hard until he inseminates her.
Never underestimate the probability that an aroused male (especially one who the player has clearly been shown **ALWAYS HAD ILL INTENT**) will go there when he has been forced to stop when already on the edge: it might not be a pleasant subject for some players, but it is reality.
That major quibble, aside, if one sticks to the primary path that the 19d iteration clearly wants you to go with (to date Hank) he will not show any negative /psychopathic traits, and will instead be extremely considerate; on this path he takes her vaginal virginity (so long as the player wants to go there). That path retains 19d's excellent writing all the way through (excepting the Beach Dudes inexplicable inaction, and possibly Mr Wilson backing off while on the edge even though he clearly had intent , tho he has virility issues and might have been starting to feel sorry for her) and is clearly where PW was aiming, since nearly every choice points there unless you specifically go the route of DIRECTLY rejecting Hank (after multiple softer negative choices still point you to him), in which case he shows blatant psychopathic tendencies (viscously slandering/belittling/gaslighting our girl); and this sets us down alternate paths.
