Projekt Passion is a comedy SciFi VN about the hunt for a mysterious "amulet" (think the briefcase from Pulp Fiction). It's the far future, Earth is but a distant memory and there was an exodus for undisclosed reasons. Now humanity has settled the galaxy.
The MC is in posession of the amulet early in the game, but a love interest steals it from him and now the MC wants it back. But Aria, the love interest, has disappeared and merely informs the MC that the amulet will help save lives. Too bad the organization she works for doesn't have the best reputation...
So the MC gets hold of a spaceship, the only thing he really needs now is a crew and some money. His childhood friend is on board and helps with the money, a female sexbot android is also part of the MC's entourage... and it doesn't take long for a space ninja with an assassination contract and sexy alien pilot to complete the crew (for now).
The game has a few animated cutscenes with voice acting, there are also animated sex scenes of course (with sound effects) and in both cases the animations will be among the best you will see in a VN. If you are familiar with the previous game by the dev, "After the Inferno", you will know what to expect.
The VN is a comedy, which is not easy to pull off. The writing here though is on point and hilarious. You will have a great time here if you like comedy.
Character design is great, but it's not what you usually get in most other games. Artstyle is overall more or less the same as in the previous game "After The Inferno", so ever so slighty stylized. The females in this game, without exception, are all very pretty, but definitely of the "cute" variety. So no bombshells, milfs, exaggerated breasts or wide hips. But if you like cute, then you will love the female character design. The girls are VERY cute.
Fortunately the eyes of the females are not as big as in the previous game by the dev, but in certain situations the eyes still look a bit stylized. It's ok though.
The game uses a third person view but it hides the lower face of the MC at all times. He wears a bandana. It's for fun of course, he even eats a pizza with his mask on, yet I still wished we would see his face at least sometimes. But maybe that will come much later in a heartfelt romantic moment, who knows.
There's not much content yet, it's the very early stages. But it's easy to see where this is headed. It will be a wacky space adventure with lots of comedy and spicy interactions with various love interests.
So far you only have some interactions with the traitor, Aria (the game begins with a sex scene), with the childhood friend Kaylee and the android Sandra (a "fully" functional sexbot).
In addition to that the game also features something I am no big fan of... dream sex. And there are three (day)dream sex scenes in this game. I think it somewhat ruins the build-up and the moment when it actually happens... but not only does the MC dream about Kaylee, Kaylee dreams about the MC as well (in a bonus scene) and a little later android Sandra fantasizes about the MC after a handjob scene with her and the MC.
I think these things should be kept at a minimum, why offer dream sex, just progress things with the love interests. It's not a major issue of course, the game is still a pretty great experience.
Also, I hope the game won't make too much use of the stereotypical sex progression route... handjobs and blowjobs see inflationary use in most VNs. Just get it over with and let the characters have some real sex, we all know they'll do it anyway, why waste time, once it's obvious Kaylee and the MC are really into each other there's no need to stretch things out.
Apart from the beginning sex scene every other encounter is entirely optional. When something happens it's of the wholesome, romantic vanilla variety, don't expect too kinky stuff here. I like that a lot though and always consider this a huge positive.
What else... renders are perfectly fine. Characters are somewhat animated when they speak, they open their mouths, in tandem with the cutscenes this makes for a great experience. Things never really look static here.
There are choices for flavor dialogue in this game. Serious, witty and aggressive. Choose whatever you like, it does not impact the plot. At times you get flirt options, these are color coded and impossible to miss.
You can also opt into "game over" dialogue options, these are also in the game for comedic effect only. For example very early in the game Sandra the android will inform the MC that she won't kill, unless instructed to. You can then choose the option "kill me" to see what happens. And you guess it... the MC gets killed and you get a game over screen where you can reload and try again.
If you don't like that... deactivate it... but these things are super obvious and you don't need to be afraid to ruin a scene by picking a wrong choice.
Projekt Passion is a stress free fun game that doesn't want to punish you. So have some fun with it!
There's also music and sound effects in the game, everything you'd expect from a top level game.
And there's really not much more to say. Projekt Passion starts out really strong, it has a fun premise, fun characters, excellent design, great animations, good music and you will have a blast playing this game if you like comedy!
Projekt Passion is a rare 5 star game for me! Absolutely worth your time! You will almost certainly love it!
