Been supporting Akaman since his Rubaka days, when he was creating awkward flash games and drawing turtles. I had to pay through some weird site and receive password on my email.
He was the best. But few years ago mid through development of that star game I felt like he stopped caring and I pulled off.
I still checked around what's he up to once in a few months but that was it for me.
Now I tried this new game of his and it's simply a shame.
There is no progression, the very first scene with Jasmine is pretty much as lewd as the last one. I didn't feel like I was achieving anything. And there was no feedback on what I was doing at all. Then I remembered the marvelous last scene from Witch Trainer and I persisted with playing hoping I will get some cool content in the end. Nope. Nothing.
There is no CG most of the time at all. It's a text game. That is uprecedented for Akabur. I mean, give me chibi, give me anything, at least show me the girl and play it like she is remembering stuff we were doing. Nope, text says it's happening right now and there is nothing showing.
Grind without payoff? Why?
I'll tell you why. Playing this game I had a feeling this game been in development for like a 2-3 months. My guess is he worked on this game maybe once every few weeks or like one hour every other day. There is no way in heaven or hell this game have few years worth of full workday content, no matter who's working on it. Maybe he got lazy, maybe he's doing other things and keeping the facade of doing games to not loose his patreon support, maybe some other thing.
My theory: Akabur been on Patreon for a decade at this point, I remember the times when we were paying him 10-12K$ a month. And he was worth it. He obviously got downgraded quite a bit, but still, no matter what he does, paycheck coming every month. And as somebody who's been on the workforce for over 20 years now in various positions I can tell you, this can make even the best of us stop caring.
In conclusion, I am very dissapointed. It's hard to see our heroes fall, even harder to see them degrade slowly over time.
