Just letting people know that despite the overview saying it will be a Roguelike Deckbuilder, it's actually a visual novel with interactive bits as stated in this :

Here's another regarding the demo here:

Based on what I played in the demo, it has a more straightforward battle system where you fill a bar while the enemy tries to empty it rather then the deckbuilder promised in the overview.

So I bought the game and its...

...Not a roguelike deck builder. Its more like a visual novel with trying to click the right / wrong choices in each scene in order to get the endings.

Granted, it doesn't say anything about being a roguelike deckbuilder on Steam or Itch.io today, which I should've read before buying it. But it does make me a little sad.
Unfortunately, my internet is absolutely dreadful, so I cannot be the hero you desire (unless I wish to be without wifi all day)

That change happened when they switched to renpy

Imma be honest, I have the game on steam and I'm pretty disappointed.
Faulty Apprentice was probably the best the dev has made, but lacked a bit on the sex-scenes side of things. I wish it had more.
Then Best Elf is the next best thing he's made I guess. More sex like I wanted but it lacked the charm/gameplay/polish that FA had. Also, the art was quite inconsistent for some reason.
After all that dev time this is what we get. Some Renpy stuff... I wasn't fan of the art as much anymore, and there's not really any gameplay anymore. Just a generic Renpy to me, and quite short, too.
I guess I won't be supporting the dev on patreon anymore.

This game is pretty mid - it's nice enough for skimming just for the scenes, but the gameplay is basic and formulaic and the writing is usually serviceable except in the sex scenes, where it feels very abrupt and summary-level. I do appreciate that you get almost all the scenes regardless of gameplay, because I sure didn't care enough to replay it for the good ending - although that does make it disappointingly linear.

It also felt weirdly tame - the overall plot made it pretty clear that basically none of the sex was consensual, yet the disclaimers and stuff say it all is. Not sure if the dev really thinks it is and wasn't clearly communicating that in the writing, or if they just say that to help pass Steam review/avoid negative press. I feel like fully developing the intense scenes that were hinted at (1 on 1 with the queen etc) could have helped give it more impact, but that would be hard while maintaining the 'it's all consensual' doublespeak.

IMO adding a few more gameplay systems would help flesh the game out more (although from the patreon posts quoted above, it seems like the dev isn't interested in sinking any more time into it). For example, it would be cool to have the princess' (or other characters') dialogue change based on how many times she's 'failed' checks etc. That would help give texture to counterbalance the surprising linearity and lack of player agency.

Also I wasn't a fan of the voicing, although I very very rarely am in adult games. Just sounds too fakey to me. Maybe in the future that money could be put towards more time enriching the gameplay?
