What do you think of story heavy games or games like Eternum which is mostly story (it was peak). Like think of a 2d , animated , sandbox , incest , harem , adventure , fantasy game that takes place in modern day , characters takes time(can change for each), has detailed characters , has plot and a mystery to solve , mc develops through story and isnt a dumbass loser from start has his past , personality , traits. You can see mc change physically. Could you wait for the sex or it would be a waste

I prefer a game like that, and I like Eternum too. :) And Orion gets pretty hot as the story develops. Shame there's no MM tho. :p :BootyTime:

e - What I mean is, a story heavy game with character development and a protagonist who has flaws and strengths. Genre and specific settings are less important for me.

I agree with everything you just said. I also prefer games that are story heavy.

I like almost all of the genres listed on here except sandbox, especially the ones where you mindlessly do the same repetitive encounters to grind "Love Points" or whatever said game has it called.

Eternum and the like are the prime examples of VN's that I enjoy the most, even the ones that are linear with illusory choices but have said choices hidden fairly well as to not make it seem useless.

I mostly play them for the plot and good sex scenes are just the frosting and the cherry on top. I like it when the characters grow with the story and actually "evolve" like how Orion did.

I said sandbox because i thought of making it a rpgm game (there are other games too) That includes;
-Interacting with town and people
-Non main story character's OR non team character's quest
-Trying to solve something (Main story)
-Turned based combat -> if possible would love to add cut-ins in fight while using a skill
-Choice making that changes ending. I have 3 to 4 ending in mind

But know that i think about it all could be done in renpy too i guess.
I dont know I aint getting started to making game for a long while since im studying art , doing other stuff , thinking of making music on my own for game(not prior) and this was the second one to make in my mind but it kinda getting more to the first place since the story , characters and overall feels more captiving

This was the second game and the first in my mind is more of a sex heavy game mostly has the same tags but not like eternum and the reason its first is that it would be a first step to industry and more likely to be a safe option to imrpove myself

I might not have explained myself great sorry

IIRC there are already a lot of games with the same features that you just listed out, hell I think all of the RPGM games are like that.

I think the most important thing for story driven games is, unsurprisingly, the hook. More specifically, the "speed" of the hook, if that makes sense. If I'm playing a story driven game that takes 5000 lines to tell me why the setting matters, I've probably already tuned out at that point. I don't mind if it takes a bit to establish the "meat", but overly flowery language makes me think I'm reading a paper with a required word count.

That's why I constantly praise Superhuman, which immediately introduces cosmic lifeforms casually murdering people, or giving their powers to people they find worthy (after killing them anyway). Immediately after the introduction, you want to know everything there is to know about the story and the state of the world. It's to the point where I actually fast forward through the sex scenes so I can continue learning about the lore.

IMO quality almost always shines, and the bar for new games is not particularly high, because of AI. You can just tell if a game is going to be good in the first few minutes because they usually don't get better after that anyways.

Maybe I'm naive, but it almost barely matters what genre or anything, I'd just focus on making whatever it is good.

The biggest time I've seen quality not get picked up for slow pacing was Demons of the Hearth so I'll shout that out.
