question about Patreon's Copyright Policy: Can I get suspended for using other artists' images with AI?

he didn't just imply it.
And still...

The question:
"I'm thinking of taking images created by other 3D artists, using them to generate 8-second video clips, and then editing and processing those clips. The plan is to stitch multiple videos together into one, using AI-based editing tools [...]
My main question is: Is there a realistic chance of operating a Patreon like this without getting suspended?" The emphasis isn't even mine...

The answer:
"did.. did... the thought of creating your own images never occur to you?"

Insomnimaniac Games clearly implied what I said, and absolutely not patronised OP.
Especially when you take count of it's "Fair enough, I suppose". And even more when you take count of his own explanation, few days ago, in another thread regarding AI, about why himself use KK. not my place to say it.

That you read it otherwise at first, I can understand. That you refuse to understand even when he himself say it, more than once, is another one.

he did say his situation was different when he insisted that his images were created by him.
Yes, but no. He insisted (yet the word is exaggerated) to you, who attacked him, not to OP, for whom he understood the reasoning.

alright, then why doesnt he sell his game on steam? answer for you: because he is not allowed to sell it there because of copyright/license reasons.
And there's no thread, started by him, asking if he would be kicked out of Steam because of this. OP express his worry, he gave a legit answer to it, period.

Clarifying for you, since you can actually read. I create my own images. I, however, do not own those images. It's not just loading up KK and taking screenshots, which is an extremely dismissive statement constantly levied at KK and HS users entirely borne from ignorance of how those programs work. (Which besides the rendering itself, is not that dissimilar from DAZ and the like. KK and HS are real time rendered, so further rendering is uneeded.)

Edit: Wanted to apologize to OP. You already had your question answered, but now the thread is full of BS.

Especially Daz Studio, since the assets come ready to use, rigged and with their textures and shader. All this served by a Rendering engine that can already give not too bad result without searching further. Anyone knowing a bit Daz Studio know perfectly well that 50% of the games made with it have CGs what haven't been actually worked; the dev took few assets, quickly placed them, applied pre-made poses to the characters, then hit "render".
And, while Daz Studio itself is free, anyone who follow the assets section know that many devs don't really payed for their assets.

There's more work in your CGs, or CGs of games like Pale Carnation, by example, than for half the games relying on Daz Studio for their CGs.

nah, the way he phrased that initial response made him come off as a hypocritical asshole* and that last part you quote only makes his patronising stronger.

Honestly, I don't think you two need to fight with each other, and you don't need to apologize to me.

Yes, my original question was, "Can I get banned for doing [X]?" and he replied by asking why I don't just use my own images. While that wasn't an answer to my specific question, I don't mind. I know my proposed actions could be criticized even on a piracy forum like this. I don't think peterppp needs to fight on my behalf.

Anyway, I've decided not to do it.

After looking into it in several places, it seems the risk of getting suspended later is too high, so it wouldn't be worth it in the end.

I'm just going to abandon NAI for this purpose and use a different local model instead. After checking on Civitai, it looks like using a LoRA that's been specifically trained in that 3D style gives better results than NAI anyway. The quality is still a bit disappointing compared to what human artists create (especially when compared to the quality we can get in 2D), but it's the safer path

The vast majority of developers of products you find on this site do not do this as a full-time job --- they already have full-time jobs or other ways they are paying the bills. They are doing this as a hobby or side-gig -- putting what they have of their free time into learning how to code, write/revise dialogue and narrative, and drawing or posing characters into images/video and then putting out something they developed. And then the median income of these people on Patreon is about $100 USD per month, even 4 years or more after starting.

So how can you "possibly start studying something like Daz of SFM now?" Take time and do it.
Just like the thousands of precedents found on this site.
Just like the millions of people who get training part-time while working full-time.
Just like the millions of people who go to college a couple of courses at a time while working to put food on the table.

There are about 8,700 hours in every year.
An adult sleeps 6-8 hours per night. Eating, daily hygeine, etc adds another 3 hours to that (this includes meal prep, shopping).
That's about 4,000 hours per year.
If they are working full-time, that's about 2,000 hours per year. Add in commute time of 1.5 hours per day.
Looking at about 2,400 hours per year.

That leaves 2,300 hours per year. Spend half that on personal/family time.

Over 1,000 hours remain to study and learn and develop. That is, if this is something you really want to do.

It's how I earned my college degrees and professional certifications. And it's how people manage their time to do things they want to do in life. And some forgo the personal/family time... or they find a job which is only 3/4 time... or make other sacrifices to do something that they have a passion to do. Probably how a lot of the artists whose art you are thinking about taking found the time to create that art.
And as I said before, I can't devote all of my spare time to this. I'm already studying and fine-tuning other AI-based prompting techniques and AI chatbots. The speed of updates is so fast that the techniques from last month are becoming meaningless. Why do you assume I'm not studying anything else besides my main job?

Furthermore, there is absolutely no point in studying 3D tools like DAZ or Blender now. Why? Because within one or two years, 3D-based image generation will obviously be conquered by AI, and even the task of rendering 3D models itself will be handled by AI.

Have you used Sora 2? AI already understands real-world physics. It doesn't matter whether AI is just a simple data-parroting machine or if it can actually exhibit intelligence. What's important is that it has already started producing commercially viable outputs.

By the same token, I can speak some Spanish and Japanese, but I have no intention of learning other foreign languages or studying them further. That's because real-time translation will soon be handled by AI. AI will completely destroy human jobs and make all university degrees and diplomas useless. Time is limited, so why would anyone study a skill that is about to become obsolete?

Please understand that I have no intention of insulting artists. This is an unavoidable truth and a reality.

I predict that in about five years, even F95 itself might be replaced by AI. This is because I expect an AGI will be able to mass-produce an unlimited number of high-quality games on the level of Being a DIK or Eternum, tailored to each individual's specific fetishes

Wasn't even criticizing really. Sometimes people can't see the forest through the trees, myself definitely included. If I wanted to be a patronizing jackass, I could definitely have come up with something way better than that. :ROFLMAO:

Can do. Tone is hard through text after all, but given the genre of game I make I request to be known as dickface instead of asshole. Feels more appropriate. :ROFLMAO:
