Recommended date limit on uncompleted games in advanced search?

Hello, small question here. What do you all think is too far back a game update date? 90 days? 180 days?

As an aside, some games I found are not given all the tags that properly match its content. I'm a little worried that I am missing some gems that match my likes, but go under the radar due to mismatched tags and/or missing tags. Is that common?

Yes, the less popular a game is the more missing tags they tend to have.

Because of that I'd recommend against comboing too many AND tags together since they will limit your results a lot. Instead use the OR statement, that way you can find games that have at least 1 of the tags that interest you.

The issue is, my one demand of most games I play is that it is animated. Minimum. So many games fall under that tag already, not narrowing it down further means sifting through so many unrelated things.

Thank you for the input though, don't get me wrong.

That's exactly the kind of tag that is often missing though, many fully 3d animated games simply don't have that tag.

Which is why like I mentioned you should not be relying on tags that hard, especially stuff like animated that is often overlooked or sometimes applied even for "sliding images".

To address this - remember that unless a developer requests it before, the abandoned tag rarely gets applied to games before about 90 days of complete inactivity (no update, no posts on here talking about progress, no posts on patreon about progress, etc) and usually longer.

The games I have enjoyed playing have 3-4 month update cycles (maybe a little longer). There is one title I like which has an update cycle that is longer than a year. However, the developer is very active and keeps his fanbase informed on at least a weekly basis on progress.

3086 games - excluding completed and abandoned tags for games receiving an update in the past 365 days
2515 games - same but in the past 180 days
1830 games - same but in the past 90 days

If you're applying any tag filters on top of that, I can't see how there is that much of a dramatic difference for someone who sounds as dedicated as you to just going 365 days back - starting at the last page and moving forward until you get to a rolling 90 day filter. investigating just once from 91 days to 365 days really doesn't take that long of a time if you are discerning.

Damn.

I feel like this issue can be less frequent if reviewers can somehow add or remove tags after they play the game. Though that causes different issues. Maybe a vote?

If you see that a game is missing a tag, report the OP with an explaination. Alternatively, make a post in the thread listing the missing tags, possibly with screenshots as evidence, and report that

For a long time, the game Shattered had futa/trans protagonist but not futa/trans, despite multiple trans characters who weren't the MC; I reported this 2 or 3 times but nothing was done to fix it. Eventually I reported a post from the dev listing the names of the trans characters and the tag got added

Uploaders can't play/finish all games before uploading (screenshots and dev notes aren't telling everything), of course there are missing tags, that's why users are encouraged to report games when a tag is missing or incorrect.

As far as I know, something like this will be a thing in the upcoming new tag system.

If that is an option, why is there so many games that don't have the animated tag, when they rightfully should?

Though I suppose the issue is more just how "animated" a game is. Some are just slideshows really.

Because a great number of people who frequent this site come here to download and jack off. They don't post, they don't report, they don't interact. I doubt they even pay attention much the to tags.
The fewer number who do interact have a larger percentage of the group that look at the tags, but many of them don't report missing/extra tags - either because they don't care, or like you they didn't know that's how it works.

So in the end, it's a very small minority of people who come here who know what they can do, how they can do it, and also actually do it.

I mean, I'm pretty active in a variety of threads, but I don't bother with looking at tags much. And unless something stands out as odd to me or revealed by another user's posts, I don't bother with any reporting.

You've been here over 2 years and didn't know that until now, isn't the most likely explaination that other people don't know either?

Recently I had to explain this to someone who, despite being here since 2017 and having over 1000 posts, didn't even know the report button existed

Guilty.
