How close do you need to be to counter his spin? I've tried so many times at different distances and it just won't work no matter what. Skill issue ig

I was able to practice the distance with the shield guy in Mission 3. The distance where the takedown works is shorter for the shield bearer and the Mission 4 boss than the other enemy types. So trying to get it to work on the shield bearer helped me dial in the perfect distance for the boss.

Idk why this is being seen as something difficult to do. You just get really close to the boss when the armor symbol is flickering and press E. This game doesn't have hitbox collision damage so only attacks can damage you. There is no reason to fear getting close to enemies unless it is an attack. The dodge button is owerpowered with a very low cooldown and covers a great distance and can be used to close the gap instantly for the takedown so timing isn't something to be worried about either.

Well the thing is that it is not widely known that that even is a thing.
It is not explained after all.
Sure once you know it is easy/easier even but without this important detail you would need to have ultra instinct trying to to the jump leap into them which is what the majority attempted and failed 99% of the time.
Hopefully with this video for clarity it will be a bit more clearer for people, giving them a fighting chance.

version 0.0.8 is more cruel in that the boss went back and forth real fast if you failed the shield break attempt and it'd be lucky if you dodged it. This version you can just air dash to completely dodge his movement since he didn't track you as often anymore.

Thanks everyone, I managed to do the shield counter with your help. Seems I really was just doing it from too far away. Massive time save vs rawdogging it without counter lol and way less retries
