Cheated to beat the mercenary boss and he is immortal, meh i think its completely doable without cheating with the sister putting everyone to sleep and spamming Unrivaled Barrage on the merc guy but idk seems pretty lame to force it maybe its just cuz i dont like how depressing the ending is. Besides me not liking ending the story is suprisingly solid and well written

Did the person that inspire Kirstin suddenly cheat on the game dev or what? This feels like when John Carpenter's movies suddenly became misogynistic with how women are treated in his films because he found out Adrienne Barbeau was cheating on him.

I think the dev realized the game got a bit too dark with the story for a prequel. His next works seem to be geared to be more light hearted with the next one being a small miniature game with Noel and then a final strategy RPG with the main cast and more where he seemingly wants to wrap up the story of his characters. Sikorsky even contemplated doing an Avatar player character that gets to pick the girl(s) they want to sleep with.

Kirsten hasn't even been really mentioned to make an appearance in the main party yet:

), it seemed like Kirsten and Painelle's issues were designed to have been resolved (Painelle's sister forgave Kirsten and wanted Painelle to forgive her as well), but this was also set years before the time of Iris's game, so she's changed a lot (arguably for the worse cuz the drugs have permanently made her lustful), so who knows if she has any real beef with Kirsten anymore.Sikorsky also said Kirsten's mentality and reason for her actions was because she never had a chance to develop her mind properly since all she knew was war, which can lead her to act like a child at times when everyone least expects it. Either way, fun little mess but he laments that the ending was too short to give it a conclusion that eased people's minds.

And yes, he did write about why Kirsten's mentality is not too great and that reason does work in a way. Of course, articles goes in more detail that what we write here but still x)
We should probably remember that Kirstin is both emotionally and socially stunted at this point (most likely intentionally so by the empire), her flawed way of reasoning made her believe that a quick death for the sisters is the best outcome in that situation and seeing meiri with her arm missing broke her resolve.
Kirsten should see justice for what she's done, but now with her development in her own game, she can repent properly and make up for it.
Her immaturity handling a certain situation got somebody important to her friend killed.
Man the prison bossfight is just kind of bullshit, is he even killable or is this a scripted loss? If so, it should've just had you get overwhelmed by a cutscene or something rather than wasting your time only for the boss to end up being immortal.
