Hello everyone,

i have a question regarding DAZ renders. I want my final renders in 1920x1080 resolution. I was wondering if there is a benefit to rendering them in a higher resolution, say 1440p and then downsize them or is it better to render them in 1080p with enough samples. I am not particularly worried about noise, i am more interested in the details in the images.
Would a native 1080p render have the same amount of detail then a 1440p or 2k render i downsized to 1080p? Is there a consensus or best practice when it comes to render resolutions. I am rendering with Octane so render time is less of an issue.

Thanks

Well rendering at a higher resolution and downsizing will only help you to reduce noise as you hinted. A pixel is either rendered correctly or it isn't. If it isn't you see that as noise, if it is it can't become any more correct. I can imagine that you can even lose detail by this practice.

I used to render all mine at 3200 x 1800 and scale them down to 1920 x 1080, didn't make any difference if they are rendered out properly in the first place. But to answer your question, there is a benefit technically, it is one of the oldest digital tricks in the books but not really needed unless you are using an older machine or laptop and are having a noise issue.

I see. I think i will stick to Full HD resolution and enough samples. Thanks for the replies :)
