Ren'Py renpy games glitching/flashing

im getting a glitch with renpy games, its like someone is mashing the arrow keys constanly causing flickering. any ideas why? it goes away when i close the game but comes back randomly

Does it happen with other games as well? It could be a hardware issue (GPU). Could also be drivers.
