Ren'Py Renpy games stopped working after I switched to integrated graphics

My graphics card died so I'm temporarily using Intel HD 2500 integrated graphics (i5 3550).

Renpy games can't launch. Just a quick "loading" screen and then nothing.

What can I do? Waiting for Zen 3 (Ryzen 4800X) and Ampere (RTX 3080 Ti)

Disable your broken gpu in windows device manage or bios. I think Windows still thinks your broken gpu is your main gpu and tries to use it instead your on-board card.

Did you check Event Viewer after game crashes?

try to use ddu to fully uninstall the graphics driver.

To be clear, it can run games like Ultimate General: Civil War, but RenPy games can't even launch

I have no idea what to look for in Event Viewer, and DDU looks scary (might brick my PC even further)

no it won't i used it a bazillion times when changing gpus or when a driver install went bad. the default uninstallers for gpu drivers often leave rubbish behind. ddu cleans everything from your system.
