1. Ren'Py is a free and easy game engine to make games on. For most Porn game devs who are solo, not good at coding, and not a lot of money it's one of the best options there is.
2. Half of all of the sandbox game on F95 are made with Ren'Py. Would all they be better on a different engine? Yeah I can see it.
Would it take more time code and make them on a different engine? Yeah.
3. Just because Ren'Py is made for VN's doesn't mean it can only be used for VN's. Just like There are RPGmaker games that are not RPGs.

I honestly don't understand what you guys posting how certain kinks or types of games you don't like should be banned hope to achieve with it. the disappearence of a genre you don't even play? how is any of it even relevant to you? It's the dumbest fucking thing repeatedly being posted pretty much every week here. if it's not sandbox, big tits or ntr it's renpy or unity or femdom or whatever you don't like this time.

Well it might be gameplay but most sandboxes are usually just grinding points or chasing events (sometimes even random). Not exactly prime gameplay there. I'd much rather have a streamlined story I can follow with some diverging decisions, even if miniscule, than some tacked together h events.
The problems most sandboxes have is that they cannot, by definition, really tell a coherent story. As I could meet and romance character Y before even touching upon character X, even if it's meant to be a different order by the author. And if they DO follow a specific order of events, it just feels super cheap because why tack on a sandbox if the order of events is fixed.
Maybe some of them can learn something from a story structure like the newer Zelda generation. But I wouldn't care either way because as soon as I see affection points or similar, I'm out lol.
yeah i made this post just to be that old man yelling at sky xD but i do dislike most of the sandbox genre games in renpy and note that i said most because there are some where the story hook me and the sandbox element is not too mind numbing that its enjoyable to play, my real problem with them is that "alot" of them have really bad UI and tips like find this one single 20x20 pixel item in the screen or go to this place where you have to navigate through multiple side bars just to get to the area you need.
for me atleast i play this games for the story thats why when the gameplay blocks me from enjoying the story it just irks me. i didnt say the whole game is bad.. its just the implementation of the sandbox or the UI design that is so annoying i just gtfo out of a game that could have a decent story.
