I worship a seagull
May the Great Seagull be praised. And may his offspring fly high and long, and don't miss when they drop the gifts in the chimney. Mine is to handle with care, so if they could just land it gently, pretty please.

That's your Santa:

Finally, in my country, Christmas is a minority holiday (15 to 20% of the population). And it is on January 7, not December 25.
New Year's Eve is a real holiday. As for our children, they are brought up in the tradition that December 25th is an ordinary day. It's not even a day off.
Thus, not only atheists, but also practicing Christians are insulted by their hubcaps (totally foreign to our cultural tradition). The world is not just about the West. For example, are you familiar with Chinese traditional holidays? I doubt it. So don't fit everyone to your standard, gentlemen.
Yes, you have every right to report me for a ban. I'm sorry, but this resource is not the center of the world. Do as you wish, especially since I'm about to turn 61, I'm too old for this shit.

I am with Hagatagar in this, and as such grew up to not like this xmas-mania.

BUT, if my Alevi neighbours can not only tolerate it, but go as far as have a small christmas tree and some (smaller) presents for their kids so they do not feel left out/ disadvantaged to their friends, then I as a non-believer should certainly be able to tolerate it.

And moreover, in these times here in Europe (or generally in "the west"), maybe about everything that more unites instead of divides should be welcome. no matter how unimportant, silly or tiny. and as said, this Xmas stuff does not really touch into faith.

Yes, you have every right to report me for a ban. I'm sorry, [...]
umm, what?
no idea why you'd need to feel sorry or where you see a possible offense in your post ...

Or, you, OP and the others could take it as it was intended? The staff added it to bring a little happiness, maybe a smile or three. It is NOT accompanied with a seasonal, western or religious message. It's a HAT! on an avatar.

The fact it was able to bring some smiles and happiness should be encouraged and applauded.

+1000.
I have Muslims neighbors who celebrate the day. Not as a religious day, but as "the day of children". And in fact, since decades it's how we call the 25 December; "Christmas, the day of children". It's only religious if you want to make it that way.
Of course, it it's not a day off in your country, it's different. But being offended by a hat for few days, it's ridiculous.

Many neighbors that I know as not being Christians wish me a merry Christmas, and in return I try to remember their holly days to wish them.
Plot twist, I'm not even Christians, but why should I be offended because of this? They just want to be nice with me, not to force me into a religion they believed I follow.

And just as soon as I move to china, I'll give a fuck about their holidays. And you mark it on Jan 7 cause you can't be assed to update your centuries out of date calendar. So, cause you're backwards. Still.

Why does a hat on a profile picture bother a person so much? I don't care even though I am not a Christian.

Was hoping to have an actual answer in here.
Maybe through that I would've found out how to change mine.
I don't personally mind the santa hats and their variation but I myself only dislike this crown that I'm currently rocking.
I'd rather have that top hat or at least the scarf I see other profiles have.
If anyone knows if there is an option to change the specific one you have to another that would be much appreciated.
(no point going on a wild goose chase myself if there is no option after all)

You're assigned a random hat based on the last digit of your user id, so they can't be changed.

This is a scandal! No, an outrage!

Everyone else gets perfectly stylish, goodlooking, green-white scarfs, and I am made to look like a Hamburg SV supporter?
... or Schalke ...1860 ... omg this gets worse and worse ...

Lebenslang Grün-Weiß!

verdammich

then try harder. some half dozen or so posts explained the howto of getting rid of it - for yourself, that is, everyone else will still see it.

Myself I will need to look into how to exchange the atrocity they slapped onto me into the obviously superior version that everyone else is wearing (green-white).

also need to find another pfp so the scarf sits around the neck ...

I mean I don't mind having it, I just rather have the tophat or an scarf or at the very least be able to change the color of the crown.
But it seems like we are stuck with what we have since they are randomly assigned. ;-;
