Hello everyone!

I know I've been very "quiet" since I shared the new chapter, but it's because of the holidays (family to attend to, things to fix, etc.), I'm just making this quick message to let you know that I'm already working on the new chapter BUT very slowly (I don't have much free time during these dates), after these dates I'll be able to return to my usual itinerary and then I'll make a complete report on how the new chapter is going.

Happy holidays!

Hello everyone!

Well, I'm finally back to my regular schedule which means I'm already working as usual on the next update. That said (and as I mentioned before) I was working very slowly during December on the new chapter and I was able to finish writing the plot and start making some new backgrounds, during this week I'll continue with the backgrounds and also make the new character models. The good news (and maybe also bad) is that this next chapter will be very long, at least that's how I feel about it, because of this I still don't have an estimated date (it's not like it's going to take me all year or anything like that), we'll see if I can land it by the end of February (READ THAT AS A BIG "MAYBE").

At the moment I have between 8-9 events planned for this chapter, and well... we'll see how it goes...

On other topics, no, they still haven't approved my subscriber profile and I honestly don't think it will happen so I'll stop worrying about it and just keep working on the game, what I do have is 'buymeacoffe' in case anyone wants to give me a tip, I'll be eternally grateful:

That's all for now, see you soon with another report.
I hope you have a great week! Stay awesome!

Go to Summer's room right after the 'check your laptop' quest and before 'go to diner'.

Hello everyone!

Just to make a quick progress report on the new chapter:

I've already finished the new character models and backgrounds (finally!), I was also able to finish all the assets for the animations but I'm at the stage of animating them (so let's say I'm 50% done with the animations), the process is a bit tedious (boring, since I'm not drawing at this stage) but it shouldn't take me too long, after finishing the animations I'll continue with the process of drawing the mobile photos.

I think I have a good workflow and that I'm doing well with time, maybe (big maybe!) I can upload the last chapter by the end of February.

Without further ado, greetings and have a good rest of the week!
See you soon with another progress report.

I've been meaning to ask (and apologies if you have already answered this, I'm too lazy to search for it), but how do you handle animating the game? I'm assuming that you're not getting any convolutional help from some sort of neural net (yet! Give it a few years...), but I'll admit to some curiosity regarding how you do it. Is it purely manual animation, or assisted by something like Live2D? Some combination of both? Some sort of homebrew version of a similar Live2D algorithm? Or is it just "trade secrets"?

Hi!

To make the animations I use photoshop and a software called spine pro (it's similar to live2d but not as complex), let's say that Beth needs to be animated then in photoshop I would draw Beth's body (and depending on what I want to animate) the body is drawn in separate layers, for example: Head, neck, torso, left arm, right arm, left breast, right breast, etc, etc, then all those layers are imported to spine pro in .png and then an "animation skeleton" is made, then you just "move" the drawing to the desired positions. For the game, I make loops that are 2-3 seconds long. Spine Pro lets you export in .mov (you can also make .gif) then I put it together in a video software (I use After Effects) and then I put the loop together with its respective background and create a video that ends in the game.

Interesting, thanks. Can't wait to see you animate the inevitable Morphizer-XE scene!

Got to love having the game have a bug within the first 30 minutes of playing, that's how you know it's good. Fun fact, the game crashes if you speak to Jerry in the back yard during the prologue. How do you get to the back yard as it's locked in the prologue? Talk to Beth about bathing together. Then before going to the bath, go to Rick's room and then go to travel. Finally instead of traveling to a different room use return which places you in the back yard.

I mean, not like the dev has a fulltime QA/QC team testing for bugs to stomp... it's free, what did you expect?
Bold of you to assume I meant disrespect to the dev with my comment. Oddly enough, I meant it as a term of endearment or encouragement. For if I really didn't like or care about it, I wouldn't have mentioned how to reproduce the bug. I would have said something along the lines of the game sucks and it's buggy as hell with no context, which it's not from my limited playtime. As for what I expected, I didn't actually have any expectations.

TLDR: I was reporting a bug because it was the right thing to do not because I dislike the game.

Lol, "bold of me" to assume that a snarky comment is not the optimal means of introducing a bug report, lulz. This the internet, it doesn't have to be a professional bug report, but if you don't want people to assume you aren't being a 14 y/o lil shit, at least separate your bug report into individual steps (ie, a list, bullet points, something), not a paragraph. Or, you know, just pull your head out yo' ass!

Yes, it was bold of you to assume it was a snarky comment because it was, in fact, a joke. This was clear by the fact that I immediately followed up by stating the bug and how to reproduce it in a step-by-step way. If I actually cared enough, I would also have put how to fix it at the end. And with how unjustifiably hostile you've been, I doubt I'd ever come back to this thread anyways. It honestly makes me wonder, with you being so openly hostile to someone offering help, do you truly want it to be the best it could be?

Helpful is relative. Typing out a paragraph doesn't necessarily make it a low-effort bug report. And if you think that having someone give you a reasonable critique of your low-effort report is hostile, maybe get a therapist? Although admittedly introspecting on your naivete is prolly cheaper. Cuz if you want hostile, I could have just called you a dumb bastard and left it at that... dealer's choice!

Hi everyone!

PROGRESS OF THE NEXT UPDATE:

Well, in my last report I said I was finishing the animations and then I would continue with the mobile photos; I've finished all that.

Right now I'm already in the coding phase (the penultimate phase), more specifically I'm coding all the scenes/events. I'm taking a while with this because (as I said in a previous report) this chapter is quite long and I really trying to avoid separating the chapters into parts (maybe when you play it you won't feel it's so long but at least in my perception from drawing to coding I've felt that it's too long). Right now I'm 'stuck' on an event (the longest of all (no pun intended)), since I have the feeling that maybe this part makes the chapter boring? And at this stage it's too late to change it which would take me more time so I'm just going to put it as is and hope it doesn't break the rhythm of the chapter too much. But anyway...

From there I'll move on to the final phase, which is coding the GUI screens (gallery, the in-game phone, map, etc.). That said, I can assure you that this chapter will be released this month (March), so it shouldn't take me more time than mid-month. So... We're almost there!!

ANSWERS TO SOME QUESTIONS/COMMENTS I SAW IN THE THREAD:

Got to love having the game have a bug within the first 30 minutes of playing, that's how you know it's good. Fun fact, the game crashes if you speak to Jerry in the back yard during the prologue. How do you get to the back yard as it's locked in the prologue? Talk to Beth about bathing together. Then before going to the bath, go to Rick's room and then go to travel. Thanks for reporting the bug! I've found it and fixed it.

Anyway, Without further ado, greetings and have a good week!
See you soon with another progress report.

NOTE:
I fully agree that there should be debate about the game and everything related to it, since reading two different perspectives from players gives very good feedback, but we have to try to keep it civil, things can escalate to a more offensive tone quickly and that can lead to being banned by a moderator or (if things escalate enough) in the worst case getting the thread closed. It hasn't been the case here yet, but small drops of rain can cause floods.
