Fundamentally, GIFs work off of the same theory traditional animation does. Each frame is a still drawing/photo, the second is another, then the third, and so forth. They're animated in the sense of movement, not 2D/cartoon/drawn. Much like many of the other tags on F95, it's vague. Animated doesn't always mean 2D. :|

Well, I checked the f95 rules... and turns out I am wrong when it comes to f95 tags... And well... I ain't a dick who can't admit when they are wrong on something... Although tbh it does make sense since there are irl games here that use stills. Although I personally wouldn't advise using it as a filter since a few of irl games that use gif's mp4's etc. don't have that tag.

You're entitled to your opinion, but there's plenty of animated real porn games out there.
Using static images =/= animated
Using gifs/videos = animated.

Depends on the use actually, however here it is used for both. But just use an example, an animated movie, certainly doesn't mean a normal movie with real life shown (even if there is some cgi).

yeah no it isn't there is this thing called terminology and context. Animated typically means something that is animated by someone, not filmed. i.e. pixar animated films.
Anyway we should probably stop this back and forth as it is off topic now.
