Ren'Py - Abandoned - Rise to the Top [v0.4.2] [EMRG Games]

A lot of unnecessary free-roam. It's nice that the dev included multiple ways to navigate, but largely it felt like unnecessary since I spent half the time clicking the phone and quick tips tab to get the next step. These kinds of VNs quickly lose my interest if the mechanics in them feel largely unneeded for the main story. If there's nothing to explore in a location or no secret events to trigger, why having it available when you could just send the MC to the next scene? The models are alright, but I prefer a variety in character design. I appreciate the fact that no one is overly pierced or has crazy fucking hair though. Had far too many of those recently. But most of the women in this are huge breasted one dimensional bimbos. If that's your thing ... cool. Unfortunately it appears this project was abandoned so for those who wanted to see more from this VN it's unfortunate that this is all they'll get. But best to not waste time and just move on. This is a VN that takes too long to get anywhere or have anything happen and it's largely a waste.

The game has good graphics although sometimes the details are poor. The characters look overall attractive. The story is OK. The animations look great. The clothes variations could be better. No fetishes in the game. Abondoned so the game is far from finished.

MC has a nice big dong (important because there no way all these mega hot cuties would fall over themselves for mr average) and the animations/sex scenes are pretty nice. Appears there is going to be some implications and braches to our earlier choices in future updates. The story is kind of interesting right now, hopefully will continue to develop and remain interesting. I'm liking the implications of power and corruption, harem building.

Pros:

• Nice and Simple story
• Good and hot-looking models
• Likable female characters
• Hot sex scenes
• Animations are smooth
• Good use of music
• No grind
• The navigation system is well done
• No bugs & good coding

Between good and bad:

• The renders (The renders are good looking, but they often come kind of blurry. Motion capture during animations can look either good or bad. I think for this one I don’t like the motion capture. During the animations, the dick clips a lot of the time.)
• The visuals for the UI are ok, to be honest.

Cons:

• The bed creaking noises during the sex scenes kill the mood. It’s just too loud to ignore. When I pound girls in good hotels/beds I hardly find such noises. The assets for the beds used during the sex scenes don’t look cheap, so they shouldn’t make much noise.
• The game has no challenge or spice to the story. At least for now.

This game has the potential to be a 5-star game. I will edit my review based on future updates. It's a pretty enjoyable game.

- renders and character design (graphically) is great, not the best i've seen, but near the top few
Cons:
- MC is Marry Sue of Marry Sues, he is bending time and space to get lucky encounters, brainwashing people with a single look, his mere existence makes every female love him and every male trust him, their will is trying to fight the brainwashing magic, but it's futile as with every second near him their defences crumble
- garbage "sandbox" "experience", where the whole map is empty and there is only one action for you to take, but you have to manually wwait for the correct time and navigate to the location
- quick home navigation has you room, that is the central location for the whole game, hidden at the bottom of the list that you have to scroll though to see it
- story is so stereotypical for these games that it is a joke, sad joke

2 stars for graphics, the rest of the game is just bad.

Great game, right into the game is some introduction about the MC, which kinda lacks some aspects about his backround story, but its a porn-game so it is what it is. The MC's look and characteristics is mentioned a lot from the love interests which sometimes is a bit much, like "how can you be so adorable" f.e. but anyway he neither looks too basic nor exceptionally awesome.
Since this game is practically sandbox, it's also pretty simple to navigate added with the tipps included on the phone ingame.
The feature where you can practice your DJ skills is pretty dope imo but sadly you can only practice it once so far and speaking about DJ skills - the music (literally every song so far) is lit af and some places on the map play different music.

Personally I would love to see a feature in the future update, where you can like visit the nightclub whenever you want and play the songs or something like that (should prolly not affect the storyline).

What's uncommon in most games on f95 is the animation this game brings to light. You can literally see the effort in this game based on animations f.e. some scenes where there is just a conversation is animated (just breathing and blinking), also the sex scenes are unusual sometimes.
Basically what every game does is like - some text -> repeatable sex scene in loop -> sometimes different angles -> simple climax. What makes this game a little different is, that each climax is animated as well as the buildup to the climax (includes bj's).

Though, talking about the sex scenes, it could prolly cause dissatisfaction for some people, because the music and soundeffect (moaning, cheeks clappin) are both assigned under 'Music Volume'. So you can't turn off the music without the soundeffects aswell and that basically means, you either get your ears blasted with music and moaning or just settle with neither (Btw adjusting the Voice Volume either indifferent in this case or my game is bugged).

What I absolutely love about p-games (that includes this) is, NO F*CKING POV ONLY. I mean who tf gets turned on if the LI gives your big ass screen some juicy smootch, but anyway this game does not have pov only (only some sex scenes as exception but thats natural and the camera angle can be switched).
Some female models or maybe all of'em idk are also pretty much new (some changes are good).

This game is gonna be ranked top 5 on f95 in maybe 4-5 updates if it continues as it is. I mean like what a holy juicy ass game this is and will become.

A top-notch game with good art, and good dialogue, the story plot is believable and straightforward, with maybe a little too much praise for the MC from the women at this point.
The female characters are, of course, beautiful.
The MC is drawn in a generic style. I figure the DEV wants to build up his look over time.
The game is a sandbox, but using the walkthrough or the tips app on your phone, it's not too hard to move forward.
Some of the animations are next-generation level, and the generous use of POV shots is great.
I gave it 4 stars for dialogue flipping (too many back and forth shots during dialogue in some cases.) the dev is working on that.

Differently, a game to play and watch grow.

It’s a rare occasion when I enjoy an open-world game. I find them to be too grindy, or have an annoying amount of clicking around the environment(s) filled with nothing to do (basically anything by CieLaVieGroup).
However, the images in the previews kept me enticed. I gave Rise to the Top a chance and it has instantly become one of my favorite adult VNs.

First and foremost, most of the female interests are hot-as-hell, with Lexie and Serine being standouts. Second, this game doesn’t dick around, and it gets down to the good stuff right away, and delivers some incredibly sexy scenes.

Second: The story is actually very enjoyable, and the dialog is very well done.

Third: The graphics are very well done. Also, the animations are awesome.

I cannot wait to see what happens next, and where the story progresses. Plus, at the beginning of next month, you have my Patreon support.

I don't do this... really ever. I could be just giddy by what I just experienced but as of now this moves into my list of games to watch out for. Let's get into it.

Story:

The story isn't perfect but I really enjoy it thus far, at first glance I thought it was the same old "Guy returns home to live with landlady" sort of game but it's not. In fact, there's no incest in this game at all, which makes me happy. I don't need every game to have the same storyline, you play and play until you fuck your mum and that's it. With this story here, we're down on our luck , and I want to put emphasis on "Luck" because in what world do you find yourself damn near homeless and the heavens opens up perfectly placing your rich childhood friend and his loaded parents onto your path? One in a million chance.

But your friend and his folks agree to let you live with them until you get off your feet and that's where the journey begins for us. It's a game which heavily revolves around music, as our main characters has aspirations of making it big in the music industry.

Characters:

Loaded with potential, some relationships could've progresses at a slower rate but it's fine with me. Not every game has to be a slow burn for me to enjoy it. But back to the characters.. Eve is the top draw for me, the milfy housewife whom our MC has had a crush on since he was younger. Jess is cool once to spend time filling out her character. Claire is one of my favorites because I have a soft spot for for goody goody characters, plus I'm an ass man and she has a nice round one. Then there's sexy Lexie, Naughty Natalia and Sweet Serene to choose from as not only Li's, but to see who gets to take your virginity. I wanted to hold out for Eve but Serene got the honors. Aside from all the ladies I just named there's still a lot more eye candy in this game.

Gameplay:

It's a sandbox and as much as I dread playing sandbox games, this is one of those games where you take your hat off to the Dev for making a game that doesn't make you wanna instantly delete it. I thought was well developed on all ends, maybe the phone could use more work with the scrolling down part so you can see everyone, it helps when there's tasks available.

Animations:

Solid, very fap worthy.

Music:

Also solid.

Overall, I like.

Good Points
+ We have a kind of interesting story, ambitions, and a cool MC who believing his dream and is ready to do whatever it takes for reaching that dream, so it's a cool story to progress and MC to play.
+ We have non-sex scene animations for some story parts like the walking animations or breathing and blinking animations in talk screens etc, and they do give an immersive feeling.
- Sex scenes don't just have one or two sex position & angle with animation, they have a lot of different positions & angles with animations, and that's a very good point.
+ Girls/Women look hot, especially Evealynn is hot damn! And not just her body, her eyes look stunning as well.
+ We have an official walkthrough and that's always a good point. I just wish we had a walkthrough mod so we shouldn't need to make alt+tab over and over again.
+ We have pretty darn cool tracks and they are made by our DEV, which is quite cool.
+ Most choices matter like you are having the chance to choose which person you will lose your virginity to.

Bad Points & Suggestions
- DEV tells you it's a slow-burn game and of course, it's acceptable to make slow-burn games with good character developments but this is still an adult game and we need lewd content but even playing the game for 3 hours the only thing MC got was just a kiss from one girl and after 3 hours he got HJ from another girl and only after 4-5 hour you are getting your first actual sex scene and that's not how well-made slow-burn games supposed to be. If you want to make a well-made slow-burn game you should create some diversity by adding some easy girls/women and adding lewd content with them. That way players could have some lewd content early parts of the game without breaking the slow-burn style and development you want to do with important characters. He should have added some easy girls/women with lewd content/sex scenes with creating some diversity and a more immersive feeling.
- Don't know why but some renders looks low quality like 720p while other looks very good and that's kind of annoying. We need more balanced quality.
- Not all of them but while doing some certain facial expressions characters look kind of unattractive, DEV needs to work on those facial expressions more.
- Sex scene animations could use some improvement, especially for animation physics.
- When you press the home icon you will go home, the same icon should work for leading us to the map as well. That feature would be a lifesaver and nearly all well-made sandbox games have that feature these days.
- Moans and music have the same volume option, it needs to change ASAP because currently this system force you to lower your sound in every sex scene and you can't hear the music anymore.

For The End
Well, it's a very good game, has an interesting story, a cool MC, and hot-looking girls with hot sex scenes. If we didn't have bad points I told in bad points I would give 5 stars but still, I do believe DEV can reach 5 stars quality by fixing them I really love to see this game becoming 5 stars rate quality, I hope, and believe DEV can reach that potential.

Review for v0.3.2

While there is certainly more care put into things such as renders, character models, and animations, beneath it all is just another run of the mill, linear Daz sandbox game. This time with a DJ twist slapped onto it. What feels like a fitting saying is that you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig at the end of the day.

My main issue is that this game advertises itself as "an immersive point-and-click sandbox game where your choices impact outcomes" and a "slow-burn." So far, this is anything but that.

The MC is your typical teenage male protagonist. Nothing that interesting beyond him wanting to be a DJ I suppose. It would have been cool if we actually see him work towards this, but he is literally handed everything on a silver platter.

Our father gives us the ultimatum of get a job our get out, so we head to the streets. How will we get out of this? Our rich friend and his Milf mom find us, offer us a place to live in a luxurious house free of charge, and it's smooth sailing from there. Well what about be coming a DJ? Good thing her well connected husband instantly sets us up with the best connections to get into the industry. And naturally, almost every single woman we meet adores us instantly because we have "something special".

Really, it's just kinda boring. We haven't had to work for anything, there's no real leadup or build up to anything, and characters honestly lack depth so far. The choices pretty much boil down to +1 point for character or miss a point. I like when sandboxes are done right as well, but again there's just nothing interesting going on with it besides the locations being well-rendered. It feels rather unnecessary when you have to progress in a linear fashion regardless. Maybe instead of a minigame giving us DJ stats, show some scenes of us actually learning how to DJ.

I think this game is actually alright if you want what seems to be a sort of cushiony harem game that's quick on the sex before anything else, but it's not anything deeper than that as of this version. Great renders and animations, but I need more to ever really get into the game. I will still watch this to see how things change. Good luck on making your game, dev(s).

Absolutly amazing
I'll start this off by saying I am NOT a dance music fan.. far from it BUT this game has so much quality to it that i looked right past that..
Characters are well designed and most of them are cute enough to fulfil the tastes of most AVN fans..
Gameplay is pretty good but could be improved upon with more to do in the skip to this next event hours..
Animations are some of the best and original too.. the cutscene in the Rave club was truly amazing.. lewd animations are of the highest quality too and as i said .. some original stuff to boot..
Honestly if i wasnt already supporting so many on patreon i'd be adding this to my list but for now i'll just say i love it and cant wait to see where it goes

Wow. Overall, I give this game a solid 4/5. Fun story and effortlessly non-tedious gameplay, plus female models that have to be seen in motion to be truly appreciated. This game is a beautiful thing, not without it's faults here and there, but I think it's great, and looks VERY VERY promising. I'm definitely going to help fund it once I finish writing this review.

The lighting and physics in this game, are some of the best I've seen in VN games with animation. The story is corny sometimes, but whoever wrote this story is definitely a DJ, probably from the old school. They know a lot of inside jokes and little known facts, and they also know how people in that scene talk, from dancers to DJs to CEOs.

This game's premise and story and music might not be everyone's cup of tea, sure. But it's one of those rare sandbox VN games that has NO grinding or annoying backtracking, or spreadsheet content. It has almost none of the little annoying mechanics that make some sandbox games feel like a chore. Such as being able to skip one hour, but not a whole day,. It's not a perfect game, sure, but I'm sure that everyone who checks it out will agree that this game has top tier production values, polish, and has a nice, so-far satisfyingly decent story (especially if you are into the electronic music scene). And last, but definitely not least: it has one if the best lineups of women you could have in a harem fantasy, all of them with knockout bodies both thick and thin, and all of them works of art.

Anyone here like Ray-tracing and insanely realistically squishy boobs and butts? The animation was top tier (a couple tiny hiccups when the frames would loop, but everything else made up for it. This is definitely in the top 3 of the current best-lookingVN games

Great vocal and physical sex sound effects, well implemented, for the most part, and the rest of the audio design in the game was also done well. One suggestion, make the sex scenes sound wetter and juicier. And what is up with all of the squeaky beds in this game?? Every bed squeaks loudly during all the best lewd scenes, even the one in a penthouse hotel suite. lol

Music: 3/5 the dance music selection was a bit on the cheesy/commercial side, not my cup of tea (though I did like the track that played during the "acid trip" lol), but the designers didn't bombard you with anthem after anthem, or loud volume levels. And the rest of the music worked well when it played in the background, I thought.

Presentation & Story: 3.5/5
I'm not even that huge a fan of the extra-big boob/butt models that are in many games, but the ones in this game won me over; they are HOT for days and a few are simply goddesses. And I can't wait to see the rest of the female cast (especially the ones who have less thick, but very well proportioned bodies) getting it on with the MC and the other girls in his harem.

Also, I actually didn't mind playing as this MC character, which isn't usually the case in these games. He's not a jerk, or a dumbass. He's a kind person, written very with both brains and naivety, who cares about women, and lucks out, big time. He is a good guy finishing first, and the ladies all love him, which is kinda nice. It's not an amazing story, and it definitely does not deal with extreme or dark subjects, but the characters have heart, and I'm rooting for this apparent EDM "Mozart" to take over the music scene with his incredible harem by his side.

Lewd Stuff: 4/5
Again, the women are amazing, all of them easily 8's, 9's and 10's each in their own way. They are a joy to watch when animated and when naked. I did think that some of the camera angles and positions in the lewd scenes weren't that great, but enough of them were good that they balanced them out, and did I mention the ladies all looked and sounded great? The sex positions and the pacing of the lewd scenes was really good though.

My only request: please reduce the amount of times we are forced to look at the MC's ass and balls. Maybe try more positions where the characters bodies join a bit more perpendicularly, instead of ones where the MC is lying on top of the woman. The male MC character model is definitely not the reason that I'm playing this game. I'm playing it so that I can eventually see some of those ridiculously hot women's bodies get naked, and animated and fucked amazingly.

The update of v0.3.1 is amazing, and the animations are very awesome.

Although there are still some parts of the game that need to be improved, developer is enthusiastic about listening to the opinions of each player and trying to make the game better.

This game is definitely worth more attention and support.

I like the game because I think that this time it is one that knows how to make an adult game with good graphics, good models and good sex scenes, I hope it continues with the same momentum for future updates

I found that this stylish game was held back by the overbearingly pandering tone it sets and the "linear sandbox" syndrome.

Your mileage may vary on the writing front, depending on how much you enjoy these low stakes harems, but I couldn't help but roll my eyes at these character interactions.

The whole time I was playing, it felt like the MC was in some kind of Truman Show where everyone was trolling him. Like this 18 year old virgin loner kid moves out with no money or contacts, and then his life immediately turns into a series of ridiculously fortunate events. He gets to freeload in a mansion and get powerful contacts in the industry in a matter of days.

Every single person, I mean literally everyone, somehow has an unnaturally favorable opinion of him as soon as they lay eyes on him. It goes beyond pleasantries and turn into devotion and infatuation in the blink of an eye, often without them even knowing anything about him or having a meaningful conversation.

What does the MC do to deserve this kinda attention? Nothing really. He will be polite to a waiter and the girl is so impressed that he didn't treat them like shit. He says he wants to follow his dreams and the girls lose their minds. He says "Hi" and they are amazed at his incredible confidence to talk to them. Logan, the shady "import/export" businessman immediately trusts this kid for no reason, and asks him to work for him delivering sensitive contents. That's just how things go with this MC. He is a walking god, and we never really see why. He acts exactly the same as the average porn game protagonist who shower peeps and self monologues about asses.

The other issue was the game design. Mainly, the sandbox system and the choices. This is the classic "linear sandbox." There is a set order of events and a fuckton of empty locations that do nothing until you need to go there. The UI looks cool, but is not that user friendly (especially the fact that you can't access the world map until you leave the house). I took note of exactly what the sandbox was accomplishing, but there was really no functional reason for it. It breaks immersion that the characters disappear when it's not their turn in the linear chain of events. It breaks immersion that you have to sleep for a week to get back to Saturday.

And finally, the choices... or player agency. It's very lacking. The sandbox is linear, but so is script. I'm not even sure if you can choose to not bang all 3 of the date candidates. I didn't experiment with that, so I will reserve judgement. What I am referring to is the more plot or character centric decisions. The MC just answers everything himself most of the time.

I will keep the good stuff short because it's more self explanatory. The visuals are pretty damn great. The renders are high quality and the animations are smooth as silk.

Although I criticized the writing earlier, it doesn't suffer from any grammar issues (that stood out to me lol. Others mentioned some). The characters do exhibit some distinct speech patterns which is more than could be said for most games.

The sex scenes are really fucking good in my opinion. The sex dialogues could seem cringy to some people, but I personally like this kinda sex talk (especially compared to silent vanilla sex). What I loved was the multiple angles/positions and some dialogue to go along with each new animation. The cumshots were sublime.

If you enjoy the harems where everything is easy going and women throw themselves at the MC, this will be more appealing. If you were looking for something more grounded, you might be disappointed.

This game is close to flawless at this point.

Plot seems to be interesting.
H-scenes are top notch, sounds and voice acting are well done.

One tiny bit, if I have to pinpoint, is that the MC seems to behave contradictorily at some points. He's portrayed like a shy, nerdy introvert at times. And at other times, he's as confident as a chad and exudes confidence of an extrovert. I get that the MC is changing from the former to the latter, but at times, it feels like the change is a bit too abrupt.
That tiny issue aside, development of this game seems very professional. I'm eager to see what's in store from them.

Edit: Most important aspect of sandox games - it's grindless and the app on the phone pretty much helps the players on what to do next, so there's no pointless stat-building.

I liked this game.

It has good visuals, animations, sound, and plot.

It was obvious the author doesn't like grind, which is nice. I think they didn't realize they made a mild grind of sleeping days away waiting for trigger and checking the phone, but it's not too bad.

I do wish there was more stuff to see day to day and less linear triggers.
More so I wish the places to go were highlighted instead of the phone. Would make this game way better and less frustrating, not that it was too frustrating.

All in all I was surprised by the quality. I'll definitely check back on this later.
