Well, on a site of horndogs that would prefer to spend most of their day playing games/VNs with one hand and whacking it with the other- what can you expect? Not exactly a bastion of progressiveness.
That said, I think it's fine to have the tag be ultimately decided by whatever junk they actually have. Since, well, that's what people are usually here to see.

A review of the demo:
Overall, pretty good basis. Would recommend if you are looking for story over porn, would not if you are looking for porn or both. The profanity as of now (Act 2) is about the same as a middle school romance novel (kissing, very few swears). If you got rid of the porn part, it would make for a pretty solid game. Fights are pretty difficult, especially the one at the end of act 2. Not afraid to use death, which somewhat grounds it in reality.
Conclusion:
Decent start, good 2-ish hours of content right now, if you got rid of the smut, you could have a young adult romance novel.

TLDR: the character isn't explicitly or exclusively acting as either a male or female gender, so that might add some ambiguity to their role during gameplay in an adult game. This isn't the same as futanari (i.e., a usually magical form of hermaphrodite) and isn't 1:1 aligned with transgender. Make of that what you want in the game.

'Non-binary' has existed in native African, America and Asian cultures for thousands of years. Basically anywhere which wasn't dominated by one of the Abrahamic religions.
It's probably caused by the same things as transgenderism; A hormonal imbalance during pregnancy causes the brain and body of the fetus to develop in different directions.

Open-mindedness is one thing, but most people are here for porn, not ideology. If I came here looking for dickgirls, I would also be pissed off to find out it was a dude who thinks he's not. There is a time and place for everything, and on a porn site with very specific kink tags is not that time.
So I played it and actually enjoyed myself, one of the much better RPGM games I've played and hope to see the dev continue. Second act does get buggy doe, if you crash while entering an area or building do not panic, the game's autosave has you covered.
Kind of a shame that a tag/gender term caused so much of a shitstorm ITT, because there's some genuinely good content here that's seemingly being ignored.
