It all goes back to Oni not wanting anyone helping him. TNH has a team working on it, while Oni go-horses everything because he doesn't want help. And it's not for a lack of volunteers, many have offered to help for free.Sure, I get that grinding and long-term hard work are important, but spending 8 years on a game that only has a few repetitive romantic storylines... even Duke Nukem Forever looked more ambitious in its trailers (all of them from 1997 to 2011...). RL-E doesn't even have a storyline... It's cool to finally get Emma Frost into bed, but... that's it. 8 years of work, and that's all. If houses were built as slowly as Patreons create games, we'd be fighting bears for available caves.
As I see it they are completely different games. TNH is very linear and history driven, while RLE is much more of a sandbox with no real history. Both are great games, but TNH is only fun once you finish the story, meanwhile in RLE all you do is having fun with the girls.
I like both for what they are, but TNH still has a ton of potential to grow, while RLE has peaked and there's not much room for improvement, especially because Oni gives zero fucks (pun intended) to what his fan base wants and is not willing to improve on his work.
