I'm a pretty big gundam fan, but there are days I forget how good kotobukiya's stuff are. Is this from a specific comic run? I've gotten the impression that kotobukiya doesn't usually do their takes on characters but, instead, will do it off of a specific design.

Not sure. They've done several "bishoujo-style" runs of various Marvel characters (including Psylocke, who I don't think was in the X-Men Manga run in the early 90's), so it may just be a theme.

And even from that angle you can see muscle definition as well as the fact that her thighs do not look like her hipbone slid all the way below crotch. This is a side shot, legs are widest from that angle. That's not how they look in the frontal shot Jube's in. Her upper body in general is much wider, too.

Proportions are important for aesthetics, that's why any low-level drawing course will run you through that and methods of their control.

Basically all of them lean toward "normal approaching thin" aside from underweight Kitty, adamantium-weighted Laura (that's still within "normal"!), and CLASSIFIED Gwenpool.
