I'm very picky about word choice in texts because it's been part of my job for a large part of my life.

If you actually read the thread you'd see it's not the case, but rather the weird proportions.
There's still the fact that Betsy was voted into the game but has been getting rushed results at a snail pace in favor of Doreen.
Also due to rushing two girls, the code is suffering more than usual, old bugs haven't been fixed and new ones keep creeping up.
So, no, it was never about body shaming.

They have various terms for it, depending of the context.
Derrière is correct but mainly used as an euphemism, when one wants to avoid crude words - so rarely when talking about sex. It'll end on your ass. => Ça va finir sur ton derrière. (talking about some fat dish)
In a sexual context, they mainly say cul. This girl has a nice ass. => Cette fille a un beau cul.
A slang word, used in very informal situations and when you do not care to look the gentleman, is boule. Check that ass! => Mate ce boule !
