With that said...I had a feeling Dingus would have to say something about the issue of people complaining eventually, I just didn't realize how bad it had gotten for there to be an entire half of a Dev Log dedicated to it...
it could've been worse but i was already worn out when the last update released and it exacerbated the burnout, thus leading to that sudden vacation. i can generally ignore those sorts of complaints and think they're valid but it's rough when half of the server's feedback was just people being disappointed or surprised that the game hinting at being about netorase ended up having it
just wanted to throw the dev log thing out there so it hopefully doesn't happen as badly again

aye, i stick to my vision as much as i can but player disappointment at that scale can still deal a temporary blow to morale

In my opinion, the game is very good as you made it, and I also like the other game a lot. You make great games, and you can do it, don't give up.

I'm kinda glad I went inactive there when I did then- as much as I would have wanted to support you in whatever ways possible, my patience would have been gone so fast that I'd have likely made things worse...in any case, I'm glad that things are better now. Hopefully people don't give you as much shit for it in the future. I will always stand by the philosophy of "don't buy pecan swirls if you're allergic to pecans," but I get why seeing that so often dealt as much damage as it did.

I agree with your Patreon post about moving on if a game isn't for you, but I think it is reasonable for people to share their thoughts and opinions and it is not disrespectful to do so. I say this not knowing where or how harsh people were, but that's what my disclaimer was for. I know how nasty some people get, but they are certainly not actual fans. I don't think you were referring to actually constructive criticism, I just wanted to say I think there's a big difference between, to use SPH as an example, "Never add SPH, nobody likes it. Waste of talent. Blabla" and "I wasn't expecting SPH and didn't personally like it, I am hoping we're able to avoid that content in the future or perhaps be able to grow Gale's dick." The former is entitled and rude, albeit on the easier side (as opposed to name-calling being involved and what not), and the latter is an actual fan that provides the info about why they may feel more strongly than usual (didn't expect it), that they hope to be able to avoid it, and a nudge that they also hope the developer has plans or hope they're willing to not just avoid it but change it around to fit the rest of the content related to virility and size. You absolutely do not in any capacity have to remove SPH, make it avoidable, or let the player grow Gale's dick.
Don't forget in my example they don't know your intentions or future plans, as far as they know they're talking about a new addition that is small in scope. Even if you do share in detail what content there will be, the majority of fans aren't going to be reading your dev logs, unfortunately. They often don't even know they exist.
Naturally anything you do is completely up to you, you are the creator. But it's also important to remember that despite the person's feedback regarding the example SPH content, they are not demanding change nor do they intend to pressure. They are still a fan of the rest of the content. They're merely hoping you find their feedback reasonable on some level and throw them a bone. Just as a quick example of something that might be considered a reasonable compromise I made up on the spot, it could be to have a little icon (or tags) on the menu where you select the scenes that indicate what type of content that scene involves. If it's icons and not tags then a legend somewhere explaining the icon meanings. That'd allow that fan to continue playing the content they enjoy, and they'd know exactly which scenes to avoid. Again, that's just an example I made up on the spot. The point is that's what I'd consider a reasonable compromise to reasonable constructive feedback... unlike the rude garbage some people spew.
Again, you don't even have to do what I phrased as a "reasonable compromise", if you just want it as it is then that's what you do, obviously. I've just had major success implementing smaller things that allow for more player agency, >>within reason<<, for stuff like my example above. That's just my unsolicited feedback as a fellow dev (on an anonymous account)

What you might not get is that someone complaining about content that was hinted at, as respectful as it may be or as helpful as it tries to be, is just irritating to read and can easily get under someone's skin. Our brains are hard wired to focus on the negatives, and while they probably meant well the damage is still done.
If it comes to actual game mechanics or quality then it makes sense. But when it comes to content preference, I simply do not understand voicing it like that. There's a lot of games to pick from, people need to learn to just turn around and look elsewhere if the content isn't to their liking instead of automatically complaining publicly about it, IMHO.

nah your post was fine, sometimes you're into a game and just didn't know it was going that direction. this is partially my fault as i need to just be more direct with warnings to the game's content so there's no surprises (something like a disclaimer before the title screen)Apologies if I added to that, although I will pat myself on the back for the "whining" warning I added
that stuff doesn't normally bug me but the burst on release along with less earnest feedback tired me out when i was already running on fumes at the time lol
anyways!! i'm glad the folks who did enjoy the content had a good time. for the others i don't have plans to invest time into making the kinks avoidable and encourage y'all to play lotty's adventure which is bigger in scope and is designed around that QOL
Guess there won't be penar upgrades or enemies to hold down the PC then
