Things Happen for a Reason.
I was perusing the Daz store this week and I came across this:
It reminded me of how often the failure of one plan can open up much better opportunities. One of the first scenes I ever wrote for
Royal Switch was Brigitte's birthday picnic in Chapter 1. In that, He'Thar was to give her an exotic creature from the Fae realm. It was supposed to exemplify the rarefied and, frankly, decadent world that Brigitte and her friends inhabited.
That's right: He'Thar's gift was supposed to be a unicorn. It was a one off, never to be seen again.
However, I couldn't find a unicorn Daz asset anywhere, and I didn't know enough about Daz at the time to create my own. So, I went back to the stores and started looking for fantasy creatures. I found "Catoon," and that was that. Being a cat lover, I immediately knew he would have more personality than a unicorn (which, other than pooping rainbows, doesn't really do much). I applied the personality of his namesake (RIP), and Georges was born. Rather than being a one-off, of course, he has become a major part of the story. As the title of the post says, things happen for a reason...
