Still trying to grasp the ropes of RPG Maker and looking for some existing H-content to get a better understanding of how it's implemented - maybe try to finish an abandoned project or edit around something that already exists if feasible.

i didn't spend too much time on rpgmaker but i modded a few games to satisfy my gameplay flow. just download any popular game or one you enjoyed playing, extract the files with an rpgmaker decrypter and mod away or just peep inside to learn how characters, items, images, screen areas are created and edited.

You'll spend some time learning how to use a multitude of plugins/scripts, as not all of them are exactly intuitive or have detailed documentation, but I think the biggest challenge is obtaining new assets that fit with the originals, especially when working on abandoned games. You'll end up having to resort to ai.
I'd like to think my game (Salacious Sakura) is pretty damn well organized in its inner parts (and it's entirely unencrypted), but some things might be a touch advanced for someone just learning the ropes. Still, if you have MV, I think it's worth a look from a pure "good practices" standpoint. If you don't have MV... well, I can post some general tips I've picked up.
