Just stopped by the vendors site looking for any update and found this, RPG Maker MV and 2 DLCs for under $30 US until the 26th.

If you want to get into the most recent RPG Maker development system, it's a hell of a deal.

That feeling when you accidentally unleash a wave or poorly created RPGM porn games on the world... Nah jk i really like rpgm games (not that they are my first choice though) but a lot of people here take an almost fanatical anti-RPGM approach, just seeing this post might "trigger" them.

Yes, I am willing to take the heat for that. But if I really wanted to bring some attention to this I would have tagged it NTR, since you can use these resources to create a game with NTR in it. :)

Problem isn't really RPGM itself, it's the half-assed games being developed with standard sprites and shit, with no real effort put into either playability or story.

Most RPGM games are a lot of running around to get minor stuff to be able to complete bigger stuff, and almost none of them have a consistent interface or "hints" in game, nor do they tell you (at least not very well) what you're supposed to do or where you're supposed to go.

All in all, most of the time the game-play suck donkey balls - and the GFX is neither cool, nor cute, nor special...

So, if it was unclear - I steer clear of RPGM games 99% of the time, simply because I will need to read a lot of crap dialogue, with no standardized way to skip, and run around in a blind stupor trying to figure out which storefront is the clothes-shop...

I think what you saying actually applies (let's be honest here) to a lot of the VN games out now. Nor sure if the guys making them are lazy or in a rush but for me the graphic/art needs to be good and as you have indicated some thought process put into it.

For my game in developmetn now, I try to for the most part re-design models face/body so that it does not look too DAZ standard. I even have my own Blender scenery in there. It's effort to make but it's worth it as it's a labour of love at the end of the day.

The story can be difficult as not many of us are master story tellers but by dammit i think one can copy some ideas form other people and then make up your own. I continually sit and think what is next for a specific scene or overall story.

That is why incest although very taboo and intriguing got boring for me real soon. Also I really are bored of the stats games where you have to have certain amounts of stats before you can do something or continue with the game. I understand why they do it, to create longevity and play time but it's boring as hell. These games remind me of Street Fighter or Mortal Combat games.. mindless button bashing or in this case mouse clicking.

As it stand i do not play these top down view RPGM games anymore.

Thought i'd get that off my chest.

The MV versions are playable, have mouse support and so on. Even then most games are designed to be played with a walkthrough. I kinda like the "walk from place A to B" as a pacing tool. Sure renpy games are more approachable but there's value in rpgm too when they're not incompetent, which applies to all engines actually.

A lot of heat takes RPGMV those days, but I feel most attacks are unjustified. The tool is very good by itself, it can do a lot of things, the issue is within developers themselves, not with the tool.
I think RPGMV made everything too easy for people to implement their own game.
