The problem is that the gameplay in most RPG games is highly "oversaturated". I have been playing these random encounters and turn-based battles since the PlayStation One era. It is just boring to play the same thing over and over again. And for an average porn game developer, it's somehow impossible to compete with modern Final Fantasy/Persona/Trails games, which are always better in their core gameplay part.
Although I don't understand when people complain about performance issues or UI problems. Performance in 2D pixel art games? Even a 10 year old PC with Intel Celeron is able to run them. UI is not intuitive? It is super intuitive if you use a keyboard or gamepad.
