Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I am planning to get into developing a game with RPGM, but I need to get the hang of the engine and how these adult games have been developed.

I am quite unsure how developers locate and/or produce their resources mentioned above. By locate i mean that some seem to be used by many games (for example the cum sound effect and the fuck sound effect). By produce I mean, I assume that some developers must create their sprites and tiles. However I also assume there must be commonly used resources online.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?
Cheers.

is a good place for assests, most people post their work for free usage there, and more importantly tutorials and templates. Youtube is also good source of knowledge for editing and creating tiles, sprites, etc.

Cool, cheers, yea have looked at the odd thing on youtube and had a quick skim over those forums.

Are there any favorite resources for developers of RPGM games that are perhaps a bit more obscure, or are youtube and rpgmakerweb.com where the vast majority of this information/assets can be found?

From what I see, a lot of RPGMaker games use default assets. Generally if you have drawn CGs, then there is a big chance that their artists drew tilesets/sprites (like I had to). Still, not mentioned place:
Steam workshop, there is a ton of stuff from what I see, most of this is for non-adult games.
In terms of sounds... I know there are free audio packs, just not sure if adult-like sounds, probably yes.
Also, if you want, I needed basic sex sounds for my own game, so I simply made them and later released for free, link:

There are still RPGMaker paid DLCs, especially recommend getting music packs for older versions for dirt cheap when on sale, because you can use them in any rpgmaker, just check terms of use.
In the end, you will find a lot, depending how well you scrub the web (maybe use google translate to find something on japanese sites), like here I just found sfx packs for free:

Yeah, japanese have lots of content, but it's hard to find even with google translator.

The most useful thing to look for in sound I guess, so @Yoshiiki links will certainly be very useful, tiles and sprites are much easier to make than music.

For sound try or any other source that simply needs credits or nothing just look for CC license without any restrictions....that works for music and sound effects...if you don't wanna sell your game once finished that is...
For Tile-sets/sprites and other resources....that's part of the hustle if you wanna create something worth while vanilla as well as paid DLC content won't do...draw it yourself mate or at least adapt vanilla assets to the point that no one can say..."urgghh I've seen that before...".

Cool, cheers for all the info, some of these links will definately be useful.

The first game I make I will just use the CGs from an untranslated game with art I like.
I cannot hand-draw to save my life, and I am learning Daz slowly, but meh, I dont have an artists patience -.-, plus hand drawn is nicer.
I will just make the game for my own use. I guess down the line if it turned out well I would see
if I could release just the data (and any of the assets I use which I created/sourced legally for the game)
pretty much like a translation patch (the original game is required i.e. the game containing the CG, and after purchasing the original game, the data folder is overwritten with my one. I would not distribute any assets used/created by the original author). Need to look into doing this tho, I think it is a bit of a grey area.

Generally it means you can't rip out assets and give them away, examples:
- Taking out audio/image and giving to people without rest of the game.
- Taking out audio/image and selling it to people.

Shouldn't be an issue for a free game, but Japanese devs/authors/creators can be very stingy on the topic, like old annoying twats, so keep that in mind.

Yea, the idea of what I am saying is that I do not actually offer any of their assets, I simply make use of their assets (probably only their CGs), and provide my own set of tiles/sprites etc and data folder, in order for the game to work, anyone wanting to play my game would have to buy the original Japanese game to obtain the CGs (or any other assets if I used them). So while I am using their assets, I am not giving them away.

Even buying the game does not give you right to use assets in your own game, even if it's free, unless stated otherwise.
But, normally not many people would care if it's non-profit thing, so you are fine most of the time...
Then again, keep in mind Japanese devs are weird, doubt you can expect any lawsuit or anything, assuming they even learn about it, but if they do they can get annoying. Probably forget about any means of sensible communication.
And just to clarify myself, it can happen, doesn't mean it will and even if, it will probably be something annoying at best, so I would say just go for it :p

Ah ok, so the problem is using the assets? I figured that was ok as the only thing I am actually releasing is an RPG Maker data folder. From the author of the original game's point of view all it does is potentially get their game a few sales from the English-speaking market. But I see your point, some devs can be weird about this stuff. As it would be my first game it would ofc be non profit. Down the road I would hire artists, or get up to scratch with Daz

Wait, are you making mod for that game? Because it does sound like that. So, you need original game, then you overwrite data folder and everything works fine. In that case you are in the clear. It's a mod.

Potentially, yes, but keep in mind that for Japanese devs (especially ones that are afraid to go global), we westerners are all dirty pirates and don't pay for anything, so there is no point to give english release. And if they go global, our media will just trash-talk them and their product... and they care about that more than what actual players think. It's dumb mentality and they are just dumb. Those that decided to go global, have chosen wisely, often having twice or more sales than what they got on dlsite. They say it's because of different culture, maybe, to me it's just stupid mentality, easily broken if you stop and learn about non-local market, you don't even need to think.

Anyway, shitting on Japanese devs aside. If you are making a mod, don't worry about it :p

Eh, honestly I wouldnt want too shit on them, I gotta give it to the Japanese, when it comes to porn they are pretty good lol (Well alot of them). If Japanese devs were releasing their games with a solid English translation, I would gladly buy them tbh. I bought all those OneOneOne releases the moment I saw them, even tho I knew the translation was shite (machine) -.-.

Anyway, yea I think it is essentially a mod, basically it overwrites all the data from the original author and would just put in a new story, dialogue, maps etc, to play it the original game CG are required. The reason for doing this? Making a game with no CG would be boring, I would get bored making it, people would get bored playing it. But producing the CG is not an option for me =D

Sometimes you have to shit on things even if you like it and don't want to, especially when there are issues. Not the topic anyway.
Yeah, even though it pretty much makes a new game out of this, it's still a mod. Someone who wants to use it, needs an orignal game itself, how they get it? In reality, not your problem :p

I do my own custom tilesets for rpg mv (or ace) and when I need an item that I can find in the rtp assets, I build it out of rtp assets. Like legos :)

Though do be advised, many of us use parallax mapping to overlay the rtp asset look. You also have to take plug-ins into consideration. Though you may not need to do this if you are just adding a folder?

Valid points, also parallax mapping are tough on memory, often jumping through maps with those can cause a huge dump in ram :p
Anyway, from what I understood, it seems like it will be a mod that changes everything and uses images for own needs :D
