The core is there but the art is lack luster, Dev has been addressing it however, thanks for all the butts btw. My main concern however is the writing, maybe it's just not my taste but the intro especially comes off as edgy and 4th wall breaking that sort of worsens the experience. Clearly he is going after the style of humor of Princess Trainer or Paprika Trainer and those sorts of games, but I don't know, it just seems a bit... off... Regardless I look forward to development of this game. Hopefully someone better at identifying problems with writing can better pinpoint the issues with the intro writing, It could also be just a taste thing. Really am wishing you the best, I want this to succeed, god knows we have a lack of RWBY porn games and need more.
Welcome aboard.
Feedback always appreciated, and I'll try to address it.
I'm not sure I'd describe my humour as "edgy", but certainly irreverent.
Also I'm old, grumpy, and annoying.
There's references to Kevin Smith films, Monkey Island, and HBomberguy's RWBY critiques in there that I wrote because they amused me at the time, and since it's my project I'll amuse myself as I see fit.
Certainly calling our character "Mysterious Perv" only for his backstory to be a litany of anime protagonist cliches, punctuated only by him being a perv (and kind of a dick), suited me.
I've played neither Princess Trainer, nor Paprika Trainer, so I assume the writers and I have similar tastes in other content. Certainly Rogue-Like and The Headmaster have influenced me though.
Narratively, gentle breaks to the 4th wall, especially early on, are IMO required by the content.
As we make our way into the loop of the game we experience them much less often, and they're shorter, but they need to happen occasionally.
This game can dip into pain-play, CNC, coercion, and psychological manipulation within an a-symmetrical power dynamic, if you want it to.
Without establishing that this is play, reminding us occasionally it's a game and that the characters too are playing roles they themselves have chosen and could chose to stop playing, those same subject matters become abuse, rape, and grooming.
I know the character we're controlling, and all of the ones responding to them, to be fictional.
But the people playing it aren't, and even with fiction I feel the real world responsibility to treat kink safely.
Part of the reasons the Milestone content is being rolled out is that someone playing it found themselves drifting unwarned into content that made them uncomfortable, as Ruby's level of depravity exceeded their own.
I want very much to avoid that happening again.
Now all that said:
The intro is VERY long and we spend a lot of time with a character who we ultimately won't see again until non-demo content.
A "Skip Intro" button is definitely in a future update (In fact, I promise one in the next update).
All that time with Glynda will start to make more sense as the Milestone and more advanced training content rolls out, but right now it's kinda draggy content left over from the VN this started as.
Heck at some point I even want us to be able to de-silhouette the Narrator and enjoy fun with her too (whoever she is).
But it's a lot of character and relationship establishment for no payoff in this version of the game, and I get that that can feel pretty jarring, as Ruby's training milestones drop we'll spend more time with Glynda and the Narrator and it'll all makes sense.
thanks for all the butts btw.
SO many more to come
