I always saw that ending parallel to Ein & The Human Mage that went mad the same way tried to make tools out of him.
In a sense Sable & Lisha relationship is a recreation of Ein & Human mage relationship but it's romantic. Lisha is to in love with Sable to kill him and If this ending was canon Ein would try to kill Sable because he dealt with the same thing before & kill him to protect his daughter.
