Ren'Py Save not updated with latest version

So I have this problem with the game called "Spirit Lover"

So before I explain, the developer has not once said that saves aren't compatible with newer updates. so regarding my issue, my saves aren't updated to the latest update of the game, and for me to access the content, I have to restart the game, but after 2 more updates, the saves aren't updated again, and can't continue to access the latest content. and even when I downloaded another save from someone else, I still couldn't access the latest content.

This is the only game in which I have this issue and I don't know if people ever got this issue I don't want to restart a new game for the 3rd time to enjoy the game, even the dev doesn't know what the issue is when I put a comment on itchio

Have you asked directly in the game thread? Someone may have this issue, but just not said anything.
What platform are you playing on? Win? Mac? Linux? Android?
I would also check out their Itch page, see if someone has a similar issue in the comments there too.

What doesn't mean that they aren't.

Ren'Py have, alas, the particularity to have saves easily breakable if one don't know how to make his game correctly. This while some devs have the particularity to not care a single second, assuming that it's normal if it happen in their own game.

Depending on the reason why it happen, it can also be due to the fact that you clean the %AppData% folder where Ren'Py store a copy of the save files, and then break the security feature that Ren'Py use.

And without more information, like the error message, no one else will know.

I play on Windows, as far as asking in the forum, I have asked twice and no one has replied on it, also with Itchio, no one has had the issue in the comments

and regarding the saves, I don't know, like I said this is the first for me regarding this issue, and I played many renpy games across here, steam and itchio and this is the first for me with this issue

Seems like you might wanna double check your %AppData% folder like Anne mentioned

Full file path: C:/Users/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/RenPy/Name_of_the_game

As of now, your best bet is to just wait on the dev to get back to you or just send them a DM explaining your issue and they might be able to help solve your problem once the dev figures out a probable resolution on their end.

Or you can just monitor their Itch.IO page and/or F95 to see if they get back to you in the interim on your issue with saves not being auto-updated to the newest version.

well I never cleaned my AppData before, and when I checked, my saves and sync saves were still intact for the game

Hmm... It's surprising. I don't see why the save files would be broken for you and apparently only for you in such context :/
