Still says it's wrong. I've tried i, I, and 1
Not sure why you’d try a lowercase “i”—there’s no font which has any amount of ambiguity between a lowercase “i” and the oft-ambiguous character grouping that is comprised of the lowercase “l,” uppercase “I,” and numeral “1”…

But, in any case, it’s a lowercased “L”; that is, an “l.”

(The rest of this comment is just advice for whoever is maintaining the original post.)

This is a perfect example of what the “code” tag is fantastic for. By guaranteeing a monospaced font, visually differentiating the characters often becomes far simpler:

Code:
8a7l6e

And just to demonstrate, this is what an “I,” “l,” and “1” look like:
Code:
I l 1

Alternatively, simply changing the font from the (horrible) F95 default of Verdana and bumping the font size up to 18pt can sometimes do the trick, too, as demonstrated below.
  • Red = Ambiguous Differences.
  • Yellow = Clear Differences.
  • Green = Obvious Differences.
Font FaceCodeComparison (I l 1)
Arial
8a67l6e
I l 1
Book Antiqua
8a67l6e
I l 1
Courier New
8a67l6e
I l 1
Georgia
8a67l6e
I l 1
Tahoma
8a67l6e
I l 1
Times New Roman
8a67l6e
I l 1
Trebuchet MS
8a67l6e
I l 1
Verdana (default)
8a67l6e
I l 1

Of course, the simplest means of fixing this would be for the developer to simply not use ambiguous characters in a field that doesn’t allow pasting into in the first place… That, or just enable pasting into the field. The latter would, obviously, be much more user friendly.
