Again, it's one guy making it on the coding end. If you've ever tried to make a game by yourself, you'd know how much of a pain that is. Stop whining and be glad he's actually trying.
I feel like I've read this exact sentence dozens of times when keeping up with Yandere Sim drama. Either way, nobody would complain if he actually kept to the release schedule he himself posted, which usually lead to disappointment when release day would come and nothing would happen except maybe announcing the date of some future stream.

i'm not trying to whine, i'm just curios about update's and news
Well I suppose I owe you an apology then. It's just the sort of thing that gets on my nerves easily because this site is full of it on projects spearheaded by one person.

And you. No. It's usually pretty obvious when a developer is stalling for more money. Yandere Dev is a lazy shit-breathed scumbag. This was known before he even started on YanSim. That thing was in development since 2014, and it looked barely better in 2016 than it does now. And yes, even if developers keep their promises, there are still people who complain. Even if a delay is caused by something completely beyond the developer's control, like the person in charge of the art part of the job taking their sweet time, or even just putting a deadline too early and realizing the actual scale of a task, so they have to push it back, Trap Quest for example.

And believe me, I follow some projects where the dev is revealed to be a money grubbing fuck who holds hostage further progress behind cash gates too. That's why I'm on here, to snatch those products without giving those fuckers another penny from my pockets when they pull that shit.

I still blame Patreon for that. All those years and that mentality is still going strong.

Yeah. Patreon is great for a lot of things, but when it comes to porn game development, it encourages doing the bare minimum to keep milking patrons. Why finish your game when you can sit in development hell for years, occasionally dropping some small content, and make a living? You can tell its Patreon too because of the difference between games that use it and ones that don't. Their changelogs always end up looking like "Added 3 scenes, fixed a few bugs" spaced months apart, while the game stays unfinished.
Honestly if I ever made a game I could see myself falling into that pit myself. Its why I'd probably force myself to try and keep it private and if I release anything only release a public demo to build hype. Otherwise, why wouldn't I just do what's easy and make an easy living?

I didn't think I'd be reading a deconstruction on the failures of capitalism when I clicked this thread about horse-fucking but here we are

Man, I've seen a thread about the failures of capitalism on a brony forum dissolve into talking about fucking Starlight Glimmer, because commie pony, so it's only logical the inverse can happen.

Imma be honest I've learned far more about economics from furrys than you'd get from a basic college course.
I think i saw news about a furry influencer doing the same that Bezos and Musk did

Trials in Tainted Space is on the way to beat YanDev on how long can you keep a project in-developement or probably already crossed the 9 year mark, yet still gets around 30k per month, despite being a text game with some characters having portraits no, having a different artist re-draw the same character on their own style is not substancial enough

And is not Patreon alone, indie go-go, kickstarter among many other websites of the sort are all in on that game, the worst part is, people that actually pulls-through like Igarashi with Bloodstain gives those sites some sort of legitimacy in the public's eye, despite the fact that for every Bloodstained there are hundreds if not thousands of Mighty No. 9

I mean, everything can fail as badly as that when the people donating money just have the mentality of
"It's my fucking money and i will waste it on anyone that creates something ever so slightly within the range of what i find appealing so stop fucking judging me, it's my money, my choice"
You know, the same reason why simps just go homeless, giving their life away to someone they know they have a relationship of nothing but a thin-veiled one-sided obsession.

What i hope is that the japanese VN, eroge and proper game industries doesn't jump on the easy cash wagon that the western decided to jump into... aside from Inafune.

Status update from Patreon.

"Hey guys, so I've been in a deeply stressful situation for the past couple weeks and haven't been present anywhere online as a result. I was already planning some holiday time and so I got as much done beforehand as possible, figuring I could keep y'all updated throughout. I didn't foresee the current IRL nightmare that's been keeping me from making updates and stuff.

I've kinda forgotten what was supposed to be the last progress update. Sorry about this >.<'

Next week, things go back to normal for me and I can get back to work. Being stuck away from the game projects for now is excruciating, and I can't wait to be able to start showing off progress again.

Thanks so much for sticking around <3 "

Thanks for the update. Just sad that there hasn't been any real update in over a year.

Progress update- back to work!
Short, simple post today. Thursday is progress update day, and I keep missing it. So I'm just writing this out as quickly as possible to make sure it's done, then I'm gonna coordinate with my writer to get a more stable schedule going next week.
I'll answer questions and give y'all a more complete picture of where the update is at, and what's left to be done, in the next post!
If you missed the streams, . ('Videos' tab at the top.)

Catching up:
Fluid stuff! I put a lot of work into the fluid systems before the holidays, and am pretty excited to see the results of those in action. Fluid handling and transfer has always been a bit of a house of cards in this game, preventing me from adding stuff like smaller fluid containers, pipes, etc. Once things are closer to release, I'll be able to start showing off actual screenshots of the improvements here.

Rendering. This one's the monster that's been stressing me out.
The goal was simple: make the game render the depth of things (closer/further from the screen) in a modular way. Use the ECS to assign depth to objects, and then the game will automatically figure out what should be rendered in which order.
I was dreading this. Rendering is hard, and every attempt I made to start pulling render functions in the more modular, ECS approach, I got quickly overwhelmed. Part of it was psychological- I thought it was so hard that I couldn't do it, and so I had a big mental block every time I approached it.
The day after I got home, I jumped straight back into this with much more determination. It only took that single day for me to sort out exactly why I was having issues before, and how the display tree structure of this game engine works. I decided to scrap the idea of using ECS for render order, and made a new, easier plan.
The game world is now getting split into a bunch of layers, defined by their distance from the screen, and displayed accordingly. "3d" game objects that need to exist across multiple layers are split apart, but all move together as if connected to maintain the illusion of 3d. I'm not quite done doing this with the Spine rigs, but it's pretty much sorted out at this point. Two days, and that problem's basically done with. It hurts to think about all the wasted time there. :'(
And more. There's a lot more smaller things, but those were the main time sinks besides the holidays.

Personal stuff
I've had a really hard time IRL lately. Like, life or death level of severity, plus a lot of less-intense-but-still-stressful stuff. It's been hard, but eye-opening. It's embarrassing to think of all the time in life that I've had the peace and mental space to do whatever I want, and how much of it was squandered. Peaceful times are precious. I don't want to waste them. I want to push my limits and create the things I want to create, including silly lewd games.
So yeah, I'm back home now, and working with a renewed sense of purpose.

That's all for now! Thank you guys so much for the many words of kindness and the support throughout this difficult period. I'm determined to get this update out into the world asap, and let you all see Project Maple soon after. I think it'll be worth the effort when it's all done.
My income has gone steadily down over the last year, but miraculously I'm still making a living wage from Patreon alone despite how frustrating this update process has been. You guys are seriously amazing. I don't feel that I deserve the level of support I'm getting, but since y'all are still here, all I can say is THANK YOU. Y'all are crazy.

does anyone have the link to the new test build?
I have the link and pw for 3a38(for almost half a year) but on the Patreon, it mentioned a whip for tier 2, and if that is a link too, does anyone have it?
