That's true, but you can't speak for the patrons and say what it is they want. Some of them may very well be donating because "Dude, I like your stream. Do more streaming!" in which case they are getting exactly what they are paying for. And if they feel like they're not, they can always withdraw their patronage at any time. You really can't "scam" someone on an ongoing basis.

This is genuinely one of the only internet projects left I still actively check in on. Everything else I would check in on is either beyond hope or already finished/cancelled. This guy actually puts some effort in and is trying to make something genuine and unique instead of "shitty jrpgmaker visual novel with stat grind as you unlock a three second gif of a titjob after grinding incest points for 40+ minutes".

Truth. And it's made worse now by AI. It's a wave of slop on the market for us to consume mostly now.
A lot of work has been done on the project, and it will be a pity if in the end it turns out that a very good and elaborate idea is confined within the narrow framework of the engine. And that the main core cannot be transferred to other more powerful engines, for example.
The saddest thing here is that i read that description and immideatly thought that i played atleast 3 games like that! Thank god for piracy, i hadnt wasted cash on any of them!
But... the elaborate idea IS the engine...

"Narrow framework of the engine"
Like bruh, the engine's so big that it's what's causing most of the delay, the engine's so bananas that it's the main selling point of the dev right now, the keystone of everything, even getting prepped for use by other devs in the future (if it ever comes out.)
It's kinda to this point where I wouldn't be that surprised if Levy releases the engine, announces it'll be open source and that SHF is canceled, then he quits a bit later, disappearing forever.

I hope he doesn't just quit after this comes out, it would seem like a massive waste of talent considering everything. plus I remember him saying that he wants to use this engine for another game in the works, I forgot what it was called though.
Didn't he say not too long ago he plans to make other games in the same engine?

Project Maple was the name, it's on page 34 if you want the patron page (thanks delfine). We probably won't see this game for ages until SHF3 is finished but I'd love to see how this game's development goes.

IIRC, he's not going to make Project Maple, that's just some project another artist wants to make using Levy's engine when it's done, so if I AM remembering that right, then Project Maple should start shortly after SHF releases, not when it finishes.
It's true, the logic and brains of the engine are very powerful. I'm more about, would it be possible to use this for full 3D games? It would be criminal to lock it all in 2D only.
I see no reason why you couldn't. It's essentially just a behavior AI after all.
