VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Secret Summer [v1.0 Epilogue] [SuperWriter]

I really like this game. The main theme isn't really unique, but it's well done with some well thought details. But what shines here, IMO, are the characters. They have very interesting personalities with multiple layers and the renders are hot as hell. It's one of the very few games that I play release-by-release.

I can't believe the game has such a high ranking. Let me be clear, if you are looking at least for a glance of logically building relationships - skip this game. MC's mom check out your boner at the first encounter, your sisters are ready to jump on you too. IT's just a very basic Harem game with no real "cracking" or slow paced mechanics. Play some other top notch incest games but definitely not this one. (Fortunately f95zone and some amazing studios still can deliver)

After finishing the latest update of Secret Summer and these are my thoughts... Spoilers ahead (you've been warned)

I replayed the whole of Secret Summer last night as I hadn't played it in a long time so there was a lot of content for me to catch up on plus I hadn't played it in such a long time I kinda forgot what happened. But I must say fucking bravo!!! I fucking loved it. This is by far my favorite game of SW's )The setting and premise is really good I love my wholesome protection games, so the setting of the MC taking a shit deal to protect his family and their way of living really ticked all my boxes. The characters are so well written and have their own individuality unlike a lot of VNs where a lot of the characters just merge into one due to a lack of good writing and character development; But not in SS it is done really well.

The story development with Irene was amazing you coming out and telling her about the contract to try and protect your family was amazing and the fact that she didn't snitch on you to your dad really made her instantly lovable, then we get to the sex scene with Irene and I say one of the best-written sex scenes I've had in a VN, there was love and passion and also of emotion, unlike the average VN where it is just carnal desire, he being so love-struck and opening up to the MC, she is one of my fave characters for sure.

The cameos with PP were really well done and didn't distract you from the game as other cameos do, they fit well into the world and the game tournament was a perfect scenario for Sasha and Miracle to be inserted in. The game tournament with Coral is a really nice story and I'm excited to see where it goes shes so cute.

Zoe being the eldest is going to be a tough cookie to crack and to get to open up due to her having a lot of responsibility being the sibling with the most responsibility and pressure to look after the family. Helping her open up and understand that the family doesn't hate her but just wants her to open up was really cute and the fact that she took the advice to heart instead of dismissing it was really good.

Leanne is cute and her free spirit nature is awesome but it shows she has something bothering her the reveal of the wankers at her workplace trying to take advantage makes me wanna burn the office down but she handled it herself in an awesome and funny way with the whole humiliate and record him was funny and awesome. taking her to the camping trip was cute and allowed us a deep dive into her character understanding about your dickhead dad crushing her dreams of becoming a dancer, one makes me want to "Stab him with the closest sharp object" and then help Leanne in any way I can to make dreams become a reality and for her to finally be happy and to get the pressure of Zoe off her back.

On to Norah as you know I'm never really into the whole Milf or mother relationship but jesus christ this one is the exception she is so cute and wholesome and loveable that you cant help just wanting to make her life better she tries so hard to make the family happy and stay together and it hurts me on an emotional level seeing how much she missed the MC and how it hurts her thinking she did something wrong making you leave, congrats you are now on the select list of people that managed to draw a positive real-life emotional reaction from me, and after hearing about the wankers in the bakery makes me wanna go John Wick on their asses and I hope we get this sorted out soon as I hate seeing her in distress as she is so wholesome and lovable.

SS is really good i fucking love it the characters are awesome the story is wholesome and enticing it just pulls you in and when a game makes me actually a bit upset when it says that it for this update that's when you know your doing something good. SS has actually earned its place in one of my TOP 5 VN's i enjoyed it that much. I also love Sun breed a lot.

Jesus christ the writing is so fucking bad I can't continue it. The general dialogue is bad, but the dialogues leading up to the sexual encounters/events is so god damn cringe worthy, honestly the worst I've seen. It's so stupid, so unrealistic, so hamfisted and childish it makes me believe this was in fact written by a child.

If you can completely ignore the writing and the story it might be interesting for you. But I play these kinda porn games because I need a story to get my rocks off, it doesn't have to be great, it can be just ok. But the story and dialogue in this completely killed any chub I was working on and just made me feel physically bad from the cringe.

The game has amazing renders with uniquely hot character models, but the real highlight of this game is the writing and relationship development.

I can count on one hand the number of games on F95zone that have writing I'd consider good and compelling, and this game enjoys the distinction of being in their rarefied number. Definitely a game worth donating to on patreon.

First thing I noticed. after checking to see if my headphones were broken, was the utter silence. No sound effects, no music, no sound design whatsoever.

The girls/models are pretty decent.The MC is absolutely insufferable. His dialogue really wants me to slap him, and his thought's aren't any different. He believes he is the literal white knight of the universe, being blessed on this earth to whiteknight every girl he sees, solving every psychological issue with ease (and not by being clever, but by having cheap writing support his actions).

Unfortunately the writing, while not incompetent at all, reads too much like some weird "mr nice guy/whiteknight" fantasy and it never fires back. There was a good base with charactervariaty to start with and plenty of oppertunity to have different archtypes (e.g. would have loved for -initially "evil"- stepmom to charm him and fuck him over or somtehing) but unfortunately every girl turns into the same person. You can tell that the writing and style doesn't change between characters, which muddies immersion and is a bit offputting.

There is a grand total of 2 sex scenes (vanilla vaginal) in the game (besides some clothed "masturbation"), each one very short (11 and 7 still images) - not animated, and the act stops after what feels like 2 seconds after MC enters a pussy. Totally underwhelming.

Not the worst but I overall think this game is "average", and I think I am reaching high with that conclusion. I personally won't be following it's development, because most stuff I saw was underwhelming, or missing entirely.

Great writing, great pacing, great renders. The only reason it isn't five start is because the *smiles* and *giggles* we're super annoying. Convey that through the renders on the girls and don't include it for the MC. Also only one real H-scene as of version 0.6. Which is fine as long as the build up pays off in time.

TL;DR play it you'll enjoy it for the most part. Wait a couple more updates if you want something to jerk off to.

It's really well writen, the models are great and each one has a different personality and there's a character development.
After playing you know who is the antagonist and maybe at the start you'll hate some character but as the story progress you start to love them.
The animations and sex scenes are not great and maybe normal but the story complements all, the only thing that I find negative is that the game will take too long because in 0.6 it's like 1-2 hours of gameplay and the progress you made in every path is minimum.

Very nice. All of the girls are different, and each have their own charm and personality.

The writing is mostly to the point, it doesn't fill the wordcount with unnecessary text, and the payoffs for your decisions are paced well.

Now I'm hooked on another story that isn't finished yet...

The writing is ok, and the renders are pretty decent, while not being stellar.

The story itself is bit, light, but sorta hold together.

The only real gripe I've got, is with the choices. A rather large chunk of choices, seem to serve no purpose whatsoever, aside from some of them giving a 50/50 chance of getting a game over... for "reasons".

Most of the other choices, only seem to be there to gather points, but so far, there seems to be little to no checks on said points (I'm assuming this'll come later on).

The result is that, aside from the game over choices, the game play is, so far, mostly identical regardless of which choices you pick (aside from the route picking choices, which are not obvious unless you look at the scripts.)

The game could amount to something, but I think some changes have to be made first, and some content should be added instead of "game over" when picking a choice that's not wanted by the dev.

As it stands, the dev could consider a kinetic novel format instead, with the only choices being to pick the routes, which I think would work better in this case.

Beautiful renders and a Beautiful mother is a lethal combination.

I love the story so far, it won’t end in a harem and thank goodness for that I love my harems but every single game? No.

Norah is the best girl but I also love the stepmom, she’s hot and adds another element. Zoe is great so are the other sisters. Mc seems cool, very likable character. I liked the crossover even though it was short.

Cons:

Updates are a breeze, no literally. It’s too short for my taste but the potential is there. Still a great game overall. Good luck to superwriter.

In my opinion, a good game with potential. Well written, likeable characters and undertones to the story that speak to a decent plot, i'm excited to see where the future of this VN leads to. Give this a go and you won't be disappointed.

As the author of this game makes a favourite of mine (Picture Perfect) I am eager to see how this game matures.
Secret Summer has potential to be a mainstay in my library of visual novels.
I have no memory of encountering any bugs.
I hope that some of the same themes as Picture Perfect are brought into this game so I can fulfil my kinks of breeding and family fun.
I am giving it a 7.5/10 as there have not been enough releases to make a final say one way or the other, but it is leaning towards a good time.
I am looking forward to its continuation, will download each update and fap again XD

I hate when a game ends that you are really enjoying. You really want to know more. Good writing makes a world of difference. Secret Summer seems a little lighter, brighter, refreshing. Definitely fun to play through. Excellent graphics, rendering, whatever you call it. Very nicely done. Not frustrating, I didn't go through any 'please, that's ridiculous' fits, and wasn't cranky when it ended. Just excited too follow along. Would recommend downloading. Okay, so the one negative is that its not 5 gigs of stacked content yet. Something to look forward too.

Hey there Superwriter, I just wanted to say thank you for your work. Secret Summers is a very fun game/visual novel that is, in my opinion, one of the better games out there today. The story writing has realistic depth to it, there is some mystery and some challenges. The artwork I find is at the top of it's class, the Woman are BEAUTIFUL!!!! (and just to be sure !) IMHO it is your second best game that you have out today. Picture Perfect is the best but again, that is my opinion and that is simply based on the story it tells or rather HOW it tells the story.

Phenomenal! This is must play. High quality visuals and writing. Game is updated frequently which is a huge plus with how immersive the story is. This is one to follow! Doesn’t hurt that the girls are beyond hot.

I have really enjoyed playing Secret Summer. I love the different types of girls you have to chose from in this game, a feisty gamer girl, a driven, intelligent girl, a sultry, laid-back girl, and to top it all off two smoking hot Milfs. One an Ice Queen type and the other a sweet, down to earth country girl. There is something for everyone. The game really draws you in and connects you emotionally to the characters.

The only drawbacks I can think of are some issues here and there with the rendering, skin showing through clothes, or hair getting mysteriously changed from scene to scene.

Despite those minor mistakes the game is really fun, I recommend it to everyone.

If you like SuperWriter's other game Picture Perfect then you also know the dev's writing style and you're going to like this game also.

By far I think the real mom of MC is very unique and hot to boot the perfect definition of a MILF but that is not to say his step-mom isn't also hot.

SuperWriter has created a good story here and has made me really hate the MC's dad and want to really get back at his father for the pain that he has caused to his real mom and sisters.

There is plenty of back story and some drama to boot but you as MC must make the right choices.

Overall, good models, good story and while any major content is still coming what is currently there doesn't disappoint but as with all things just wish there was more of it right now.

Well, Another great story by Super Writer..Where the energy and creativity come from..I have no idea .But the great Stories and Characters continue to flow.
I started playing this and continued to the end ...wanting more...thats how I know I came across a good one...Art is also well done...will be Watching this develop..

Secret Summer v0.3 (SuperWriter) Review
So, I have been encouraged to write a review for Secret Summer, a Ren'Py VN by SuperWriter where the MC returns to his home to help out his landlady and roommates (mother and sisters!) after less than a year away after living with his - ah, forget it - his father and stepmother.
Anyway, I'm pretty new to the world of VNs (played a bunch in the last few months thanks to Covid-19!) and have limited knowledge of the technology used to create said VNs (played around a little bit with DAZ and Ren'Py). However, I am sure about one thing - story (plot) and dialogue are most important, just like in TV or movies or theatre or books or...
In this regard, I believe SuperWriter has done a very nice job overall creating believable characters (various traits and personalities) in a world where there is plot, humor, and (of course) the groundwork for lots of adult entertainment! I also like how the MC sets up the plot at the beginning during his 'think talk' allowing the viewer/player to jump in right away. That said, I had difficulty with the fact that the MC and his mom/sisters were only physically apart for less than one year (they have been communicating via technology as well) before reuniting, unlike games like Sister Lust or Where The Heart Is where the MC has been separated for years allowing for physical, mental and emotional changes to occur over time prior to being reunited. However, since the MC had 'feelings' for his mom/sisters prior to living with this father, I'll defer to SuperWriter here since he knows where the plot is going after all!
As for the visuals, I particularly like the 'life-like' graphics for this type of VN and SuperWriter does a great job here. The characters look great, and in many respects, are unique unlike some games where you think - 'I've seen that character before.' Except for the introduction, the MC appears in 'first person' - for me, this helps the viewer feel like he is the MC rather than watching somebody else in that role.
A couple of 'cool' things to note - (1) when the game first opens, you are able to scroll left/right and hover over some of the main characters to read their bios, and (2) you can set relationships for the MC and others right at the beginning - in other words, if you're not into incest you can go with the default 'landlady' or create your own relationships.
In summary, I like SuperWriter's work overall and cannot wait until the next release!
