HTML - Secretary [v1.0.4.3] [Deedee]

There aren't many games that include so many fetishes and in a substantial quantity. Secretary does that and then some. Plus the game developers seem to really love their creation and spend a lot of time on it-which always raises the rating a lot!

This is a really well executed game.

Like the majority of HTML-based games, this is all about being slowly feminised (why is it always HTML? Why is HTML so unpopular with other kinks? super-weird).

Some of the other review complain about how your boss forces you to feminise and she's kinda mean about it:

On the one hand, that is PART of the kink so this is a feature rather than a bug. On the other hand, it is interesting that feminisation is often explore in games by a blurring of the line of consent and that said blurring often involves people being really mean to the player-character.

I would argue that while this is definitely a kink, it is not the only available version of the kink. There are a lot of people who are intrigued by the idea of feminisation, and a lot of people who are basically on the borderlands of transness and it would be nice to see a game that treats the dub-con feminisation process not as something that is aggressively forced on the character and more as an act of pushing at an already open door.

This being said, this game is all about the fantasy that the character stumbles into a world where he has no choice but to be a) feminised and b) wind up both internalising and enjoying the process. The world is described in really cool terms as there's this corporation that basically sissifies people against their will under the auspices of corporate training but there are also weird spin-offs and back-alleys from that process that involve more extreme version of the fetish. The game's narrative is partly about uncovering this corporate conspiracy but the game tries its best to balance the tone, so it's like 'GASP! The corporation is turning people into mindless sex slaves!' followed by 'Being turned into a mindless sex slave sounds kinda hot'.

The game is very much relationship-driven, so you can explore different aspects of the feminisation/slutification process by working on your relationship with different characters. Some of these characters are mean because it can be hot to be dominated by someone mean, some of those characters are more friendly, because it can be hot to hook up with someone who likes you.

It is very text-dominated but the writing is pretty good although the hotness comes more from the outlandish nature of the situations and less from the actual sentence-by-sentence writing of the scenes, or the character's connection to the characters.

It's very well realised, it's very evocative, it's very deep and explores a lot of different areas. I'm slightly concerned that the game might be getting too big to be workable as none of the strands seem to be curving round to produce any kind of ending or set of endings and that's a bit of a shame but I think DeeDee has done really well to produce a world this detailed and compelling that speaks so precisely to the kinks it chooses.

I played on v0.8.7.1, not a full play through, but quite a lot.

It's one of the best Twine games on my memory. It's features original art, a lot settings (including characters gender switch, which turns this game from nah to cool for me), plenty of content for different tastes. Writing is good, story so far is decent, world building is consistent. Characters reactivity to player actions is good too. Dev done a good job to make this enjoyable without Wiki.

This game has minor issues too.
    1. Progression for "money" feminization style felt too slow, compared to "voluntary", "obedient" or even "forced" styles. I strongly advise not to focus on single one, or you risk to stuck for a while for no fun reason.
    2. Non-fetish, office-suitable wear and underwear options felt very limited, if one tries to match by style AND tags. Maybe it's not a focus of the dev, but I would appreciate better selection of modest clothes and looser clothes tagging to simplify mix-and-matching. Also, some clothes options (like grey socks) have broken image references (can be fixed by renaming), some combinations slightly clip with each other.
    3. Game can be somewhat grindy/repetitive, but it's representative of office slut slave life, so it's OK.

Overall - it feels, that dev is passionate about this project, and it makes me feel passionate too. Outstanding job!

This game had so much promise but has steadily gone down hill. I understand the "rules" changes involved but there has been progressively less to like about this game each time I've played. It's essentially a text only game now where it started as a beautiful mix of video and art. Now there are glaring holes where they've removed images and videos without replacing them. Just less and less to really enjoy every time I've played. Still a halfway decent base game in there but compared to what it was it's just plain worse.

DISCLAIMER: This game hits a lot of of my aesthetic buttons so I might be a little biased.

Okay, this is a good HTML game. First off it is well written, it feels like a world more than anything else. There is a lot to do and it doesn't feel too grindy. Admittedly there is a lot of work stuff going on but there are things to do in the meantime.

A lot of people have commented on the manager being harsh and, yes, it is a necessary weasel to drive the plot along. However, there is a sense that she does care about the protagonist and is guiding them along a path more than anything. The rest of the game is fairly sandbox with several love interests (honestly the relationship with Alex warms my heart), several jobs and many outcomes.

Graphically, it has a 8 bit wRPG to it, reminiscent of Albion, Daggerfall etc (see disclaimer above). Which hits me in all the right places, some people might not like it but it really does have some good art to it.

Okay, the bad side, not a great Porn game, the faps are infrequent. However, better as a game, it's the old mass debate of do you review as a game or as porn? I'm reviewing this as a game and honestly, if you like TF themed games and can forego a huge amount of lewds then this is more than worth a download.

How do you rate a Porn Game? Do you value the Porn as more important or the game?

I personally think the game part is more important. If I want Porn i can always "play" a VN or read SMUT or (for non text-based games) visit bing.com . For a porn game to succeed it must be a good enough game first and foremost. And Secretary isn't. It's bad. In fact, it's the most ridiculuous grindfest i have ever seen in my live, and i have played wow 1.0 for gods sake.

Where to beginn? You see, a major problem is that you can only see specific characters on specific days, and you need to visit them to unlock content. In addition, every single day is tedious to complete. I did a speedrun of day 1 and needed 69 clicks to complete it. If you want to keep your stats in check you need about 66 clicks per day (shower->masturbate->dress->work->masturbate_>stress release game with infuriating time selection ->sleep). That doesn't count in grinding your sex stats which you need to actually unlock content.

So to tell you how ridiculous this is, i will show you an example. The first bestiality scene in the game. You get it while jogging. But you cant jog without proper atire, you need to buy sports clothes in a gym (Amazon or stores with such clothes are banned in this dystopia). How to get to the gym? You can only unlock it by talking to your friend Bob. So you call Bob, he wants to meet you on friday. Grind through week one (~330 clicks) and finally meet your friend. Now comes the pitfall. He doesnt tell you about the gym in the first meeting. You will need to grind through another week.

So you meet your friend for a second time (week 2, friday) and finally he tells you about the gym (because google maps doesn't exist). You immediatily go there, but another wrench is thrown into your plans. For whatever reason you need to wait for your friend to visit it the first time. Luckily, the game for once shows a little mercy and the date is on the next day. You go home, sleep and return to the gym for some training with your friend. This training costs you 200% stamina, making you unable to do anything for the rest of the day. You sleep until sunday morning.

Finally you can go jogging, right? No, the training clothes you were given are to sissy with your current stats, so you need to go the gym to buy some MANLY clothes. Now you are all set and ready to get to the porn, right? No. Of course not. Its a random event. And going jogging one time costs you 50% stamina. Sleeping for 5 hours gives you 50%. So you can at most jog 4 times on weekend days and 2 times on workdays. I tested it once and i needed 10 tries to get the first bestiality event, on wednesday, week 3. We are at over 1100 clicks by now. This is the result:

Leading the dog into a nearby alleyway it rolls onto its back to expose its belly and its throbbing, unsheathed member. A little nervous you reach down and take it in hand, the dog showing obvious delight as you feel the very hot shaft in your hand.

Stroking up and down you marvel at its heat and unique texture, watching as its knot swells you fondle with both hands until the beast starts to get up, rising to its feet and swiftly circling around to nose your rear...

What it wants... do I dare?

[No way, taking it in the rear for the first time and it not even being a human? Nope, no way am I that depraved.]
[Gently push him off and be on your way.[1]]
You cant go further without having lost your virginity, which is (almost?) impossible at week 3. 662 characters, including choices and white spaces. For 1100 clicks. Half of an ASCII-Character of Porn per click you made. Most of the clicks showing you pages you have already seen in the first 3 minutes of the game, getting repeated over and over. It's utter insanity.

So hows the porn? Well its good and "varied" (if you can live with the fact that its obviously all submissive sissy stuff). A major Problem is the fact, that the author asked a school class of 13-year olds for every euphemism they can come up with for the word "Penis". If you consistently call nipples "nipples", why cant you do the same for your "woody womb pecker"?

You won't live long enough to get to the porn though. And now the final nail in the coffin: You want to use cheats to skip days? HAHA, screw you. It doesn't skip, it calculates 24 hours without actions, you end up fatigued, horny and stressed and get called by your boss because you missed work (you can miss like 3 times and then its game over). Not even debug functions can save you from the endless grind that is this game.

Some very confusing reviews here ... "Ah, the boss forces you to do things! It's so degrading! She's so mean! She'll pee on you!"

Did you even read the OP? "at the mercy of his new manager" is literally in the Overview. Tags: Female domination + Humiliation + Sissification + Urination + Mind control"

Makes you wonder if some people think a game is supposed to cater to every single fetish, orientation or playstyle. This is a game about being forced and dominated. I don't understand how that can be missed.

Imagine a reviewer giving Forza Horizon a score of 3/10 because he doesn't like racing games. Lol....

In any case, Secretary is very high quality, very well polished and mechanically great. A professional finish. Whoever said the writing is "just okay" is probably not comparing it to other Twine 2 games. It's far above the average.

So with all my praise, why 4/5 and not 5/5?

The main detractor is that Secretary holds a lot of punches on the "hotness" factor. For a nsfw game, no matter how good the game is, it's not as hot as it could have been. In fact, at times, it seems almost afraid to just be a nsfw game, for example with how the word penis is always randomized to something silly and childish: you'll rarely ever see the word "cock" in Secretary. Instead you'll see things like "merrymaker" or "baby batter machine" or "gravy spigot" or "flesh flute". Why it does this, instead of just allowing itself to be erotic, I have no idea. It's like the game can't decide if it's an erotica or a parody of erotica at times.

This sort of confused mood seems to permeate through the game. For example, (no real spoilers) there's a part of the game where you fill out a kink questionnaire, and if you tag "yes" to "rape", the game punishes you in a sort of meta way by giving you an immediate game over screen where you're arrested, and you have to start all the way back from before you filled it in (which already took a good while to do). I just wanted to unlock as much content as possible. Note that if you tag "yes" to receiving rape, nothing bad happens. Game goes on normally. And not to mention that the game is driven by being the recipient of non-consensual sexual actions. So .... What's Secretary trying to say here exactly, by punishing the actual player for this?

    Again, it's quite confused.

On the topic of actual gameplay, I'd say it's just about positively tolerable. It's a functional game loop of wake up > go to work > go home, with some occasional variety in freetime activities. Maybe this expands greatly the further you play, but I've put several hours into Secretary and I've only unlocked a couple of new areas, none of which seem to have any serious abundance of content.

Overall, Secretary is presented extremely well, oozes with effort, has good writing and an enjoyable plot. However, it suffers from a strange tone, where it's unsure of where or when to take itself seriously, or take itself seriously at all, and turns hostile on the player for choosing kinks that the game is already participating in. Although it's just speculative, I think Secretary is afraid of stepping on certain toes, and for that reason remains in a box of nsfw stuff that won't take any risks or chances. The hotness factor seems to suffer because of this.

Still a 4/5, and still worth playing.

Probably one of the best games in the genre. And until today I would have rated it a straight 5. It still is in many ways.
Yet it just completely killed both boner and mood. To elaborate. It gives you the control to give up control. You can decide to walk out. You can decide to leave. You can manage your fetishes, decide to indulge, block content etc.

I am not sure if the scene that bothered me can be blocked. I dont think so, but I dont know. Its also a massive spoiler so...

As many games made in HTML, this is pointlessly grindy and somewhat convoluted, for no good reason.
Apart from that big negative, i would say that this game has some great visuals, story and setting, yet i will warn you, this game is pretty fucked up that takes place in a truly dystopian setting. If you dont want to go hard, go home.

While I enjoy many of the themes and scenes within this game, the sheer monotony of getting to access most of them draws me entirely out of the experience and makes it a chore rather than an interesting or titilating experience.

Most of the actual scenes within this game balance the innate helplessness of the fetishes focused on with the natural need for player input fairly well. Some of the content very much isn't for me. Things like the watersports and filth-related scenes go outside my tastes. However, the feminization and dominance/submission content fits my interests quite well, and that's the majority of the content in the game. The writing doesn't necessarily stand out, but sometimes, that's better than worse. Secretary's prose keeps your eye moving and doesn't make you pause, for good or ill. For a Twine-based game, the formatting and menus look quite good.

However, everything good about the game is tainted by the poor choice of core gameplay. Most of the game involves a single-subject management sim where neither managing or mis-managing time, resources, or money rewards you with the content you're actually playing the game for. Scenes just come along no matter how good or bad you're doing. To be quite honest, the game would be served well by going the route of a typical Ren'Py visual novel without the time or resource management, skipping most of the time spent doing nothing but working or doing the same crap over and over. Actually getting to the parts of the game that people are playing for takes far too long without any real benefits to the management gameplay. Even parts that are interesting once or twice get repeated ad nauseum due to the necessity of doing things like masturbating to manage certain resource bars.

In the end, there could be a good story or game buried under the annoyance of the main gameplay loop. Really, dropping the management altogether for something else would probably pump this up to a five. The only thing keeping it from the absolute bottom is the fairly decent writing.

I started playing this game back in Nov, ver. 0.8.2.3 and 4, and I couldn't get enough of it. I kinda freaked out because of that.

Then I realized I'm trans, and came out to my wife and started hormones and LHR. So thanks to Deedee, definitely saved my marriage.

As far as the game content itself goes, I found it top notch but ultimately I kinda lost interest around part 3.

I felt the game was really well written and I really liked the characters, and the variety of environments and activities you could engage in. I also really liked the core gameplay that was definitely micromanagey schedule/outfit management. It worked great because I could mostly focus on the content I wanted to focus on without feeling like I was wasting my time in the game.

The main complaints I had were that it progresses to the insane levels of debauchery too fast, that too much is given to you (particularly clothes), which makes it feel less fun because there were fewer outfits to make since you basically get handed your ideal outfits for different tasks. IMO it would be more fun to be forced to buy the outfits for each activity/job/whatever. Maybe this changes later game, and I didn't get there though. The last complaint I have is that some stats are a pain in the ass to raise with certain fetishes flagged off.

Overall it was a fantastic game, but I realized it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Also love that affirmation was listed as a kink!

    HeavyMetalSuizid

It has good writing, a great, visual layout (others have mentioned, however, that it's unnecessarily convoluted and grindy, at points), yet I feel that it fails at its fundamental task.

To my great displeasure, I do enjoy the general genre of this game, the powerlessness of the individual seems to me to be more pressing than in Kafka's Proceß (granted, he never finished it, nor any other work of significant length), and it gets increasingly unsettling as the game goes on.
The second, saturday visit to Dr. Trapper was too much for me.
The game is more dystopian than sexual.
It's truly unsettling to see an actual Bimbo inserted into a semi-believable setting (I read parts of the wiki, the company's made out to be, essentially, one of the big five, yet they talk of a merger. That does seem just the slightest bit unbelievable.).

Truly, I can hardly picture any greater den of debauchery, which contrasts all too well with the Olivia Hill rule, with which the author starts the game.

The depth of the depravity is truly unappealing, too. While you're not breed to be a cumbucket, in a derogatory, dehumanizing sense, it's the next closest thing, with your subconscious and body being tinkered with.
All to end up, as another reviewer writes, as a human urinal.
One can only wonder whether the act itself, or conceiving of it is more heinous.

In fairness, however, you are bound to find a more balanced picture by reading more reviews.
With myself in turmoil, at my disgust, and english being an acquired, not given, language and prose, I felt I had failed sufficiently to express myself, however found myself, for lack of in-site expertise unable to delete this.

    TrapmanCrothers

I'm not sure why I've reviewed other games before this. It's my favourite so far. I tend to try not to wax lyrical about games and instead focus on what I think would appeal or not appeal to players, so with that in mind...

What's not to like? Well, if you don't want heavy, almost entirely unavoidable sissification then read no further. It's going to happen.

There's also something of a lack of visuals, at least porn visuals. There's not none, but this isn't a slideshow of a wide variety of porn gifs either. And the artwork might not be to everyone's taste. It had a certain feel to it that personally I think adds a lot to the immersion into the world but not so much to the eroticism. It fits thematically, but it's not necessarily making the characters look attractive.

Instead, what carries this game through is a mix of quality writing and extreme perversion. A lot of the kinks can be opted out of but honestly I would push this game much more to people who wouldn't want to. This is the kind of game where your character makes some interesting decisions about their relationship with stray dogs and occasionally serves as a human urinal to earn a living. As I said, you can turn off that content in the settings but I doubt I'd be writing this if I were the type of person that would. No, Secretary is about embracing depravity and that's the way it should be played.

Aside from the taboo nature of much of the content, Secretary is a game about characters and the scenarios they get you into, and it does this brilliantly. There's a very familiar set up of a character who works for an overbearing female boss intent on sissifying them. That's nothing special. But there is a real sense in which the boss, Ms Antlers, is more than that. As the game progresses we learn about her motivations, her own problems, her mix of professional and personal interest, and we get a real reason to have our own vested interest in pleasing her. Sometimes it's fear or repercussion, and sometimes it's because we really want to help her. She's torn between wanting to create the perfect secretary, the corporate politics, and that she genuinely cares about you (in a rather warped way).

The game has a strong humour to it, and it is set in a dystopian future so perhaps some of the sci-fi elements won't work for some, but to me the balance is right and it provides the perfect world for exploring just how far someone can go in the name of perversion.

The text is written professionally, it is pleasant to read. The story itself is for an amateur, but the events are spelled out in great detail (y). I was surprised how much attention the author paid to the thoughts and experiences of the main character. I hope the author will finish the game.

This is one of the more original games in this genre. Love the pixel font, the writing is top notch.
If you’re a fan of forced feminization this is the game for you.
The clothing system is fantastic, and the game provides a little bit of point and click, corruption, slow progression, and feels very well thought out. The dev is quick to reply to any bugs (if you support him on his patreon), and the game has a ton of content for hours of gameplay.
It isn’t a “choices matter” type of html game, but it does offer some varying ways to accomplish the same thing we all want to see—the MC being feminized.

Fun/hot mtf game. Want more! Makes me want to take androgen blockers.
They're missing a number of videos that are being replaced, but otherwise there's a lot of stuff to do. It's a bit repetitive/slow though. Could use more tf or events.
Could do without the slave and foot stuff, but that personal pref and can filter some of it out.

More tedious clicking than most life sims. Except those games have a lot of pictures to make clicking semi-rewarding. Here most of the clicking is pointless grind. I think its to hide that there's maybe an hour of actual content in the game.

    Pro's
    - Great Themes
    - Nice Femdom Content
    - Can bypass content you might not like

    Con's
    -Monotomous gameplay
    - sometimes hard to hit certain events
    - running day after day of tediousness to hit a stat check is annoying

Sissification as a fetish doesn't do much for me. This game is well-written enough for me to enjoy it anyway. The sex scenes are hot, the characters are fun, and the mechanics are interesting enough to keep you playing.

By no means is the game perfect. It can be extremely grindy to the point of becoming tedious. It has issues of scope and feature creep as well as slow development. Nevertheless, it is the hottest game of its genre on f95zone.
