VN - Ren'Py - Secrets and Promises [v0.03] [badbod]

This is very promising. If quality of updates does not drop it could be one of the top VN's here.

Only thing that could make it better is more sound, but I guess that would come later. Otherwise visuals are top notch, tempo is perfect and it feels natural and realistic.

The dev has decided to do something story related that has soured my opinion on this game honestly. And I've changed my rating as a result.


It's very early on in the story to perhaps already be giving it a 5*

But, I really like what I'm seeing so far and then add on my high opinion of the Dev from playing his previous game, then it gets a 5*

Very fun game with a high potential for sure

I started off liking this AVN, but it did not take long to devolve into the standard harem easy AVN and it's too bad because this one has potential.

The dev is talented, albeit newish. IMO, they need to work on lighting the scenes. The outdoors ones are good, like the cover image on this thread, but most of the interior shots are not good. They are dark with faces hidden and not staged very well. Beyond that, the writing is decent and the story has a good foundation.

The problem with this one is just like so many others, there is no challenge for the MC to land a LI. They just all fall for him. There is no chase. No buildup. No challenge. Just LI's dropping their clothes and letting the MC have his way. This leads to the problem of the LIs not being very interesting. There are one or two interesting and worth while LIs, but for the most part they are all the same. The only one that seems to be somewhat of a challenge is his boss, but she is ugly as fuck so who cares.

Beyond that, everything else we have seen in other AVNs. I will say, the dev has gone all in on the story and has produced a decent amount of content for it only being v.02. I think it is important so support devs like this as they do seem to have some talent. I think the renders will get better as we go along.

At this point, however, I can't give it more than an Average rating. I am sure there are going to be a bunch of people who like this and that's great, but for me this one, while having potential, falls short of the mark. Having said that, it is one I will be keeping track off.

One of the greatest game!
It's definitely in my TOP 5, with generous updates.
Great story, with (not enough) choices and an open-worldish feel!
With a bit more choices in general and lewd scenes, we have one of the greatest game incoming! Story is great, maybe focus in gameplay more ;-)

I love this story! The core of the story is very strong, it's down-to-earth, heart warming and very easy to become engrossed in.

The creator's writing style is masterfully succinct and concise. Through his/her open and likable main characters and easy-going dialogue everything flows spontaneously on, carrying us (well me at least) along with effortless immersion. All of this is, for me, a sure sign of a great creator and even at this early stage this novel already gives unflinching testimony to that fact.

If this creator had a means for subscription I would certainly chip-in in return both for the pleasure he/she is giving and to help encourage ongoing development.

This isn't ground-breaking material, but, it doesn't have to be. In my opinion, it tells a rock-solid story with warmth, empathy and plenty of passion. From the creator's point of view I really hope it is, so far, achieving all that he/she hopes it will. I think he/she is doing a superlative job and I feel lucky to find myself among this creator's audience.

It is also great to see, thus far, such a positive response from this site. I hope we will all continue to let this creator know how much we value and appreciate his/her imagination, time, effort and literary and visual skills.

A really good start with pacey narrative with lots of options for the story to go in, although Boxed In went places I didn't expect at the start. A nice range a of LI's to choose from although none really stood out for me so I'm as with Boxed In I'm hoping more will be added later.

Im fan of boxedin. Secrets and Promises pretends to be longer and better (i hope so).
- Renders are good.
- Good Li's design, they feel authentic.
- Decent amount of sex scenes for first release.
- Interesting story, maybe not very orginal, but decent and captivating.
- in v0.01 two kinks (feet and anal)
- good amount of animations and quality of them is acceptable
- i love font of this game (previous too), very legible and aesthetically pleasing.

I would add some optional GILFs, more MILFs ofc too Not a fan of MC face, i suggest redesign his face, looks like 60 years old gramps.
Please add pregnancy into the story (not only in epilogue) , consider adding more kinks - pissing, breeding , maybe some rough play.

I would remove highlight system its buggy and annoying.

Overall great game 5/5. I love harem games, decent story and diversity of Li's + good animations.

This review is for v0.01. As the dev promised, no blue balls, plenty of classy lewds. Brilliant first chapter and great backstory. The LIs are amazing models, very good-looking. This VN has huge potential, so will update the review as new chapters are released!

I'm going to give it 5-stars because of a strong opening chapter and I like all the different small ways things can play out with the highlighted clicking, it's a good system, that being said I do want to point out some flaws in the game that don't knock it down stars yet but will be annoying if they continue deeper into the game.

The "friends" daughter, where it seems like she's probably your daughter based on context clues, has some unavoidable contect if you want to hang out with her and her friends, you can't decline kissing her even though the MC probably knows she's his daughter, or at the very least a daughter-figure in his life.

Same issue happens when you reconnect with your ex-wife and your daughter, the MC pervs on the daughter without ANY input from the player, when up to that point the game had done a good job of letting the player dictate how things go.

All in all this game is very good, the plot is good, the characters are good, it's a fun game to play, but forced father/daughter incest will ruin this game for me, if it continues, if you want to leave it in your game for the fans of the theme, go nuts, but let there be options to be a NORMAL father figure to the girls if I want to, there are plenty of other women in this game to fuck.

One of the best game I've ever played.
Great story, great render and most importantly no blueballing.
Hopefully this game won't be abandoned. Hopefully the developer can get enough support to make it happen and can continue this game until the final version.

I hope the devs add pregnancy content in future updates because I think it could really spice up a game even more.

Currently, the best dev in the game ! I only wish there was a way to financially suport him.

The writing in both games has been extremely fluid and to the point. I absolutely love how real the game feels - the visuals are super clear (compared to most games on this forum with oversaturation, overblown VFX, blur etc.)

I can't give enough praise for how natural every character in this game looks - NO double D's, huge thigs, asses, super thin waist. The MILF's actually look like mature women, with appriopriate proportions and chub in the right places (at least so far).

As far as the story goes (v0.01 currently), everything is coherent and actually interesting - which makes it an extremely pleasurable experience.

The biggest downside, at least to me - is the sound design. There are currently no sex sounds, please consider adding sex sounds to the game - it will absolutely take it to next level.

Good game with a good plot and with a fast-paced story, no milking or blue balling, it goes straight to the point. The renders could've been better, but it's not a problem in the end. In the end, it's a worthwhile play, hope the developer continues with this project, cos it has a lot of potential.

Overall, it's pretty good. What I really didn't like was the sexual attraction to my own daughter. Hopefully the incest path will not be mandatory in the future. As it is, there are some rough edges in the plot, but compared to most games, these flaws don't seem too harsh.

Has a very old school vibe to it. By that I mean something like 2018 to 2020. It has older graphics, but is very consistent, has readable dialog and doesn't try to overcomplicate the game play. I'm very positive about this game.

The plot content is good, and the smoothness and design of the pictures and animations are quite good. They are listed as expected updates. Looking at the travel map plan, it seems that there will be more areas and stories to look forward to in the future. The development team did a good job!

Really good but has a glaring issue that ruins shit completely for you. When you go to play pool in the man cave and it gets to where you sit on the couch with nicole, as soon as her body goes yellow highlighted so it can be examined, any click you make instant crashes the game. Sucks. Because it was damn good up to that point.

Edit! Went back and disabled the auto highlight and was able to bypass where it crashed.

Another review says there are no real lewd scened in this. Ummm. Did we just play the same thing? Plenty of good animations in the plenty of lewd scenes I played. Like the variety in the women as well. Love that there is Bush.

Would love to see pregnancy added.

PROS:

1. Good renders and visuals, at least for models and potential LIs
2. MC looks mature, rugged and its nice to not have a young frat boy MC for a change.
3. Story is simple yet compelling
4. Characters are not overly complex but honest and real in there unique ways.
5. Dialogue is good, structured and reads good, also not bloated or filled with stupid, senseless or illogical bullshit to sift through for the player.
6. Animations are pretty good and visually great also the extra small window for close up is actually damn nicely done.

CONS:

1. Sounds are limited, there are no lewd scene sounds which is a pity considering the quality of those scenes. Sounds in general, ambient, interactions etc are also lacking, while there are some, they not many and as per lewd, there are none.
2. UI can do with some work, extra options to change opacity and being able to adjust sound independently would be nice, music, sound, environment etc. (though there are not many now)
3. So far in terms of lewd content there are a couple and they pretty good but not too many kinks/fetishes, so lewd are relatively vanilla. (not exactly a gripe as its still early days for this VN)
4. Would be nice to have a stats screen, but not sure how relevant it is. Its clear somethings are frowned upon like staring at boobs, but to what extent?
5. Some character LIs do look very similar, there are 3 that look like a variation of the same model, would be nice to have a bit more uniqueness in those instances. (refer to gallery)

FINAL REMARKS, OPINIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer.

• Its a pretty good VN and ticks most of the boxes very well. Its not the most gorgeous or as high fidelity and quality of some VNs out there, but its good on its level overall and that counts.
• Lack of decent audio and sounds during lewd scenes and general gameplay is a bit disappointing as it adds tremendously to the immersion. Hopefully that will change in the future? Same about UI features that are lacking.
• Nice to have some options when it comes to kinks and fetishes, but those are only 2 and they pretty vanilla by todays standards IMO, hopefully we can expect more options like pregnancy, lactation, voyeurism etc etc. Least it should be optional?

TLDR:

Pretty good VN, worth the play and support. I am hoping we get regular and good content like this in the future.
