VN - Ren'Py - Secrets and Promises [v0.05] [badbod]

Awesome story with twists and tuns. Awesome graphics during scenes. Occurring updates with plenty of content . Not as much sandbox as I prefer but still has some choices for my liking. Can't wait for more updates. You're awesome!

Decent but not great. Let's just say that based on the other reviews I was expecting a lot more from this game.

Visually it's pretty good. Renders look original, character models are realistic and diverse. The dialogue is (mostly) well-written and the overall pacing of the game is perfect. Plenty of stuff is happening but at the same time the game doesn't move so fast that it becomes shallow.

The story in general however was disappointing. It feels like the developer is going for a dark psychological drama but the story is all over the place and it often doesn't make any sense.

• The game suffers from a common porn VN disease where every female character is hot, single, and madly in love with the protagonist for no reason.
• The MC travelled halfway around the world on foot to deliver a letter to his dead best friend's family because of a promise. But we're not even 24 hours further and he's already groping the daughter and fucking the wife. And after that the story doesn't get much better.
• Animations are very average, especially for 2025 standards.

Good stuff, sandbox is not really sandbox, meaning no real choice to explore, little verbose in some interactions but overall really good...if not predictable. I will definitely check our the dev's other work.

To start with i loved the story, but it went way of the rails when MC desides to work for the gangsters whos after hes friends, none of that made any kind of sense and made the story really go to shit, now MC starts doing the same shit to others that he was trying to save hes friends from and that makes for one shitty storyline, worst part of it is that MC trusts those gangsters to wipe the debt of hes friend.....right that makes sense right? lol...its awefull, first thing MC does is to go back to the story he kicked the gangsters ass when they first met to shake down the owners there for money.....

And MC just keeps going "i dident have a choice" when it comes to working for the gangsters....right....sure... and yeah it gets worse since it goes all out on porn logic and now MC can get BJs and shit from the females that dont have the money for the gang.....it went from playing a nice soldier vet that helps out to becoming a gangster who can abuse womans when they cant pay.....sure you can turn them down but just giving that option shows a clear picture of what kind of story this is supposed to be, since your supposed to play the game like a pure idiot abusing girls if you go by the in-game walkthrough, funny enough the cop in the game feels the same way i do, that MC is the most brainless dude and trusting whatever people tells him, hes just not fun to be....now had this been like the law abiding citizen movie then story could have been great fun, but instend MC becomes a pet doggy for the gangster bitch just missing a colar around hes neck.

And yet all of the above is just done so MC can become a hero after all trying to save everyone.....why he would ever accept that when he dident do it from the start is idoitic, why would he first go "i cant fight them i dont stand a chance" to "sure lets save everyone" rofl.....

And ofc its all so you can start up a relationship with your dead best friend wife.....yeah i wont be doing that since i play for story not a fuck all that moves game.

Normaly i would give this 1-2 stars but i like that you have choices in it so you arent forced to do shit you dont want to like the best friend wife so it got some points on that, its proberly the first ive seen that truely follows your choices, like 2 girls having a pool game i turned one of them down early game, she lost the game and had to do a dare which was kissing MC with tounges and she moves to MC saying "dont worry i know your not into me" so they just fake it insted, now thats how choices should be in all choice driven games.

It also fails on sound and music, its just to rare and playing silent games for 80% of the story makes it a bit boring.

As for girls they look alright and there is a bit of diversity in builds but mostly the type i want which is smaller to normal tits instend of the bimbos in most games, not that this dosent have that as well.

When it comes to adult content i pretty much saw nothing yet, proberly since i turned down the few there might be something with, so i cant really rate animations or sex scenes untill the game has alot more content then whats there currently so ill try it agani at a later date and adjust the review then, for now ill give it 3 stars even though story is a bit wierd and dosent make much sense at the moment.

This is the second magnificent game from this developer. He tells a nice, sometimes humorous story without being long-winded. The developer playfully weaves sexual content into the story, making it seem natural and not forced. The characters are diverse, appealing, and lively.
I am looking forward to future releases and would like to support this developer.

Wonderful. Such great, real relationships. Great dialogue, really funny at times, nice mixing up of situations -- and the girls are delightful. I really love this artist. Yessiree, it's certainly another 5 from this dev!!
****I need to update this review in order to say that I am in LOVE with this AVN. Really: story, character, emotion, sex -- it's all there! And OF COURSE this is the genius who won't take money! **Gush*** I will follow this dev anywhere...

I actually like the story in "Secrets and Promises" a lot more than in "Boxed In." The pacing is awesome and I can see this game being a major multi-year project. The models are also perfect and realistic. MC's personality and development has been also believable. Great stuff so far!

Really nice, all the chars have personality.
I appreciate the differences between the LIs, could be even more for my taste (body hair, chubby, boob size/saggy, trans etc.)
Most importantly, the story and dialogue is authentic and convincing. Definitely looking forward to how this develops.

This game has just about everything I could want.
MC is a pretty bad ass dude. LI are all cute and have their own personalities.
The story is pretty interesting so far.
Millie and her mom are amazing.
Genuinely nobody in the game I disliked so far.
Some of the choices you make have significant impact on the story you see.
Great job dev. I am looking forward to seeing the next chapter!

This is a review of version 0.2 of the game. I rate it Excellent at 5/5 for the following reasons:

1) The story is kept relatively simple but remains relevant as the plot develops and character motivations are expounded upon. The pacing is great as there isn't a dull moment. That is not to say that things happen quickly for no reason. In fact, I'd say not a lot has happened at all in terms of the story progression, yet simultaneously, I was constantly engaged with the activities of the MC and the involved characters.

2) The character models are good. The women don't all look like supermodels. They have a more natural look to them, while still retaining their beauty and attractiveness.

3) The render quality gets the job done although it is not the highest quality rendering one may find in these types of games. It is decent enough without ever becoming an eyesore. Some scenes may be too dark, or washed out but I believe the developer is working to improve this.

4) So far according to the changelog for version 0.2, in total the developer has released 3801 renders spread across two updates for the game. The first update being 0.1 which was released in June 2025 and the second being released in August 2025. This is actually a great turnover rate and I applaud the developer for this. The render quality may also be one of the reasons why the developer was able to release 0.2 so soon after 0.1.

5) The sex scenes are surprisingly frequent while still being satisfying. There are no lewd sounds so that may be a negative for some but I don't mind it at all as some times that may actually ruin the scene for me. The ease with which the sex scenes occur are tolerable, with some being supported by the story (history between the women and the MC) and in general they don't break the immersion.

Miscellaneous points that work in the game's favour:

- The incest + harem aspect is being done in a pleasing manner. Again, it's kept simple but at the same time, it doesn't ruin the immersion of the game.

- I also generally appreciate a game where the MC is a grown man, and not a young adult/ teenager. It's a breath of fresh air.

- The developer has not monetised this game in any way, as far as I know. This only serves to make this game even more impressive.

- There is a built-in WT in the game which can be enabled/disabled. And fetishes such as incest, anal, feet are also optional which can be enabled/disabled.

Conclusion: I recommend you play this game.

This is very promising. If quality of updates does not drop it could be one of the top VN's here.

Only thing that could make it better is more sound, but I guess that would come later. Otherwise visuals are top notch, tempo is perfect and it feels natural and realistic.

The dev has decided to do something story related, that has completely soured my opinion on this game honestly. And I've changed my rating as a result.


It's very early on in the story to perhaps already be giving it a 5*

But, I really like what I'm seeing so far and then add on my high opinion of the Dev from playing his previous game, then it gets a 5*

Very fun game with a high potential for sure

I started off liking this AVN, but it did not take long to devolve into the standard harem easy AVN and it's too bad because this one has potential.

The dev is talented, albeit newish. IMO, they need to work on lighting the scenes. The outdoors ones are good, like the cover image on this thread, but most of the interior shots are not good. They are dark with faces hidden and not staged very well. Beyond that, the writing is decent and the story has a good foundation.

The problem with this one is just like so many others, there is no challenge for the MC to land a LI. They just all fall for him. There is no chase. No buildup. No challenge. Just LI's dropping their clothes and letting the MC have his way. This leads to the problem of the LIs not being very interesting. There are one or two interesting and worth while LIs, but for the most part they are all the same. The only one that seems to be somewhat of a challenge is his boss, but she is ugly as fuck so who cares.

Beyond that, everything else we have seen in other AVNs. I will say, the dev has gone all in on the story and has produced a decent amount of content for it only being v.02. I think it is important so support devs like this as they do seem to have some talent. I think the renders will get better as we go along.

At this point, however, I can't give it more than an Average rating. I am sure there are going to be a bunch of people who like this and that's great, but for me this one, while having potential, falls short of the mark. Having said that, it is one I will be keeping track off.

It's definitely in my TOP 5, with generous updates.
Great story, with (not enough) choices and an open-worldish feel!
With a bit more choices in general and lewd scenes, we have one of the greatest game incoming! Story is great, maybe focus in gameplay more ;-)

I love this story! The core of the story is very strong, it's down-to-earth, heart warming and very easy to become engrossed in.

The creator's writing style is masterfully succinct and concise. Through his/her open and likable main characters and easy-going dialogue everything flows spontaneously on, carrying us (well me at least) along with effortless immersion. All of this is, for me, a sure sign of a great creator and even at this early stage this novel already gives unflinching testimony to that fact.

If this creator had a means for subscription I would certainly chip-in in return both for the pleasure he/she is giving and to help encourage ongoing development.

This isn't ground-breaking material, but, it doesn't have to be. In my opinion, it tells a rock-solid story with warmth, empathy and plenty of passion. From the creator's point of view I really hope it is, so far, achieving all that he/she hopes it will. I think he/she is doing a superlative job and I feel lucky to find myself among this creator's audience.

It is also great to see, thus far, such a positive response from this site. I hope we will all continue to let this creator know how much we value and appreciate his/her imagination, time, effort and literary and visual skills.

A really good start with pacey narrative with lots of options for the story to go in, although Boxed In went places I didn't expect at the start. A nice range a of LI's to choose from although none really stood out for me so I'm as with Boxed In I'm hoping more will be added later.

Im fan of boxedin. Secrets and Promises pretends to be longer and better (i hope so).
- Renders are good.
- Good Li's design, they feel authentic.
- Decent amount of sex scenes for first release.
- Interesting story, maybe not very orginal, but decent and captivating.
- in v0.01 two kinks (feet and anal)
- good amount of animations and quality of them is acceptable
- i love font of this game (previous too), very legible and aesthetically pleasing.

I would add some optional GILFs, more MILFs ofc too Not a fan of MC face, i suggest redesign his face, looks like 60 years old gramps.
Please add pregnancy into the story (not only in epilogue) , consider adding more kinks - pissing, breeding , maybe some rough play.

I would remove highlight system its buggy and annoying.

Overall great game 5/5. I love harem games, decent story and diversity of Li's + good animations.

This review is for v0.01. As the dev promised, no blue balls, plenty of classy lewds. Brilliant first chapter and great backstory. The LIs are amazing models, very good-looking. This VN has huge potential, so will update the review as new chapters are released!

I'm going to give it 5-stars because of a strong opening chapter and I like all the different small ways things can play out with the highlighted clicking, it's a good system, that being said I do want to point out some flaws in the game that don't knock it down stars yet but will be annoying if they continue deeper into the game.

The "friends" daughter, where it seems like she's probably your daughter based on context clues, has some unavoidable contect if you want to hang out with her and her friends, you can't decline kissing her even though the MC probably knows she's his daughter, or at the very least a daughter-figure in his life.

Same issue happens when you reconnect with your ex-wife and your daughter, the MC pervs on the daughter without ANY input from the player, when up to that point the game had done a good job of letting the player dictate how things go.

All in all this game is very good, the plot is good, the characters are good, it's a fun game to play, but forced father/daughter incest will ruin this game for me, if it continues, if you want to leave it in your game for the fans of the theme, go nuts, but let there be options to be a NORMAL father figure to the girls if I want to, there are plenty of other women in this game to fuck.
