Yes yes yes. Okay. Get to the point.

First, this is your reminder that we have the new poll up. We have one for Patrons ( ) and one for the Public ( ). They're very important so please fill them out.

But, the actual reason Arioch has (foolishly) given me a microphone is to tell you about our newest reward goal.

To help promote growth and give back to you folks, I am offering an opportunity. When we reach 8.5K, I will write one non-cannon scene for you guys. An official fanfiction for Seeds of Chaos.

Why care? Because if we reach it, it'll be up to you what pairing is included, and it can be anyone. Anyone.

Jacques and Shaya? Sure. Cliohna and Ulcro. Why but okay? Duke Raeve and Alexia? ...why?

This is going to be a one time thing and is totally non-cannon. The mechanics of how you guys will decide what I write can be left for when the goal is reached.

But I love you guys and I love working for this game, and I just want to give back to you guys with something weird and fun.

What story thread do you feel is abandoned? The fundamental problem isn't that we're spreading ourselves to thin. It's that the entire writing team shifted in the middle of development.

Why is Shaya, for example badly underserved? Because we have no idea what do with her. We also have a directive to actually advance the story with Rastedel.

Why is there fae stuff going on right now when Greyhide hasn't been getting a lot? Because the fae writer doesn't write other stuff and the main team has been fixing the mechanics and making Rastedel. Greyhide meanwhile lacks a dedicated writer.

So what are we doing about it? Well, part of the goal is to add some writers to help fill in the gaps. That's the plan with the M/M writer mostly. Part of the goal is to take some time to expand the castle segments after we finish up Rastedel.
One thing you could do with Shaya is for her and Rowan to have an affair, if Jezara is going to go after Alexia it's only fair after all.

I'm not mad you posted this, but I want to explain "don't know what to do with" a bit better. Me and Rein are professional writers. You can hand anyone in the entire cast to us and we could have a pitch for a scene or a short event chain for them beated out very fast.

What I mean is a broader narrative arc. Progress is slowly being made for Shaya/Greyhide. But, we have lots of possible places to take their arcs and we've been trying to build them.

What that means is intricate beat by beat examinations of charachter direction, thematic throughlines, setting up background and reveals, and then integrating that with the broader narrative. It's even harder in multi-state where you need to construct multiple directions and resolutions and have all of them be satisfying. While also trying to limit total workload.

A big part of the issue is the production debt. Arioch is fantastic creative, but not everyone can stand the mind numbing tedium of mapping if reveal A goes in story beat 28 or 29 and debating that for hours. Dark Master had a looser more improvisational writing style that worked better for a project he was mostly solo writing. It meant when the bulk of event writing moved to me and Rein, we had to basically reconstruct a lot of the arcwork from DM's style.

I'm not shitting on Arioch or DM's choices here. What they did made sense in context. But it puts writers in a challenging situation. It's much much easier to finish charachter arcs for charachters you haven't written yet because you can plan everything in advance. But every event with a character solidifies them and adds something that needs to be accounted for in the extrapolation. A lot of the behind the scenes work on the game is just me, Rein, and DM just sitting down, arguing, and building the narrative foreward and backwards.

So yes, I could write a Shaya event right now. But, it would make us fucking misrable later when it makes the arc writing more complex and potentially worse. Every event without a plan is a debt that has to be paid later. That is what I meant by "Have No Idea What To Do With Her"

Thanks for explaining things a bit, but at the same time given Shayas' more flirtatious nature, and her status as some sort of dancer/whore,(she literally winds up running a brothel, dammit)a casual friends with benefits thing wouldn't strike me as being all that big of a deal, even if a more complicated and intricate affair would be. I mostly just want Shaya to get some more "attention"(read: Dickings) from Rowan because she immediately starts flirting with him the moment they meet.

I'm not saying that we're not going to allow that option. I'm saying that if that was all that we did with her, it would be a huge dropped ball and we can't do that with her until we've finished working on her back end.

Shaya will fuck Rowan in time. And when she does, you'll be happy we did the work to have a plan.

Can anyone help me? I figure out for my life how to check item prices before buying them in the shop? Also why can you only right click to zoom into items that you can buy, and not right click the ones with the red square to see what they are?

It's a thoroughly broken system. Once upon a time, it worked sort of okay. However, since those much earlier builds, the inventory/store been reworked, half-assed, and messed with so much it's gone sideways and bonkers. It's also obvious it's a low priority for the development team. I know this sounds really negative but *shrugs* it is what it is; I don't fault them for putting this on the back burner while they work on other, more important stuff. It's easy to avoid it completely in-game anyway. Plus, you can get gear and other rewards through events at times so there is that. Though, I do want that all the stores that players can access to be completely vaulted away for the time being to spare players the frustrations with it until it gets the attention it really needs.

I for one would not like a self-writing book.

I happen to like the suffering and torture that is known as writing. It's the reason why I drink.

But, seeing as I have no money to buy said drink... I am on an extended 'writers' block...

A shame, because I have 20,000 words into this HTML game that I wrote on a all-nighter coffee binge about 2 months ago which I wrote in a single day.

It's actually not on the back burner. It's just slated for demolition.

Ah, okay then. There's our official answer from the man himself. I'm on board with this move as it would streamline things. It was such a mess, but I'm also aware there will be players out there that would prefer to have more stuff; however, at this point culling it is the better move. I'm hoping there might be other ways to mitigate the loss in bonuses (as minor as they were) on the RPG side of things if and when players start to expand and explore into other in-game regions.

What about the Bloodmeen management system? It's due for some TLC or an overhaul I think as well. As it is, it's not very well defined and I just kinda of wing things along early for income and research points. For example, I don't know the actual effects of Tavern but I do know it increases income; thus, I'll build it in every game. Or worse, build things just for plotline advancement. (Argh, hopefully that's clear enough. Someone's knocking on the door while I was in the middle of this...) *Rushes out* Okay laters! Looking forward to your reply!

I'm all for the shop being removed. Can always have gear and such be obtained through events if you really want the RPG item/loot stuff. Make the shop something more engaging. Maybe make it into a mission hub of it's own. Giving players short optional missions for some extra gold.

For the moment our main goal is just to streamline the mechanical elements to make them easier to manage in a satisfying way. We can build out if need be and if our resources expand to the point where we can more easily dedicate expenditures to the design side.

Why is there no options to have interact or sex with Alexia or Helayna at will? For Alexia there is no options to talk to her if you chose not share a room with her, and even when you do share a room with her there is no option to sex her other than through the random events... and during my play through so far she only chose to have sex with Rowan like once so far in the castle despite being 24 weeks into the game, I haven't let her cheat on Rowan or get raped yet by the weird futa succubus. And its kind of odd that you can't just sex Helayna after you claim her considering the fact that she under a spell that makes her horny all the time and is just in your room naked.

Also what is the point of having Jezera in the hall way if you can't even really interact with her at all. She has the standard 3 repetitive messages when you "talk" to her, and when you press visit there is no options at all other than "back"?

Also I noticed some of the end / start of the week events seem to be delayed or not properly activating at the right time. For instance Helayna didn't show up to the castle until like 5-6 weeks after I captured the Keep. The scene telling me to go to Rastedel with Doran fired off 4 weeks after I already went to Rastedel and did all the events there, such as going into court, the ball, and meeting with the Mysterious Masked Lady.

Also I think the Bonus Gallery CG tab could use a back button, or a page menu, because right now there is only the "Next" button and its hard to review which scenes you already unlocked cause cause there a like 20 pages of CGs that you have to keep pressing the next button to even find the newest one you just unlocked.


Other than these things. I thing I think the game is amazing so far. Very well written dialogue and story. Characters are very believable and consistent which is great. Though difference in art styles between the sex CGs and the sprites is a little jarring, cause some of the characters in the sex CGs don't even look like what their dialogue sprites are. For instance Delane looks like a creepy old lady in the sprites, while in the sex CGs she looks pretty decent. Jezera looks so cute in her dialogue sprites with freckles and all, but then in the sex CGs she looks totally different person. Also kind of sad to see the shop / equip system is planned to be slated all together. Though then again I played 24 weeks into the game and haven't bought a single item yet, and didn't even realize that I could level up Rowan till week 23.

Also is it even possible to forge anything with Greyhide? Cause even though I have like 3-4 mines, and 100% equipped all the orcs... he always says he doesn't have any metal and I need to bring him some?
