All I'm saying is that if you are disappointed with the game's progress, checking in constantly is just going to make you more upset. If you are already mad about the progress then instead of checking in every update and complaining about how it's not done yet, just don't do that. Either just give up on it and move on, or check less frequently. Why subject yourself to constant disappointment?
It's not about "disappointment with the progress" or any other perfumed words you and people like you spray to cover the stink of the developers poop. EIGHT YEARS. They haven't finished ONE THIRD of ONE game in EIGHT years. There's zero justification for that.

Putting aside the fact that each Part will be its own game, and that Part 1 is certainly more than 1/3 complete.

Why are you here?

What good does venting your frustration here do you or anyone else? Everyone is already aware of how long the game has been in development. You aren't telling anyone they don't know and you aren't changing any minds. The people who are fans aren't going to stop being fans just because you are point out what they already know. The devs don't have any reason to care about the opinion of some rando on a pirate site, the only people they have to care about are their patrons. And the haters already agree with you.

Why are you here complaining when you could be playing a game that is complete, or talking about a game that you enjoyed, or touching grass? The only thing that makes sense is if you feed off of the drama.

The game had a path that felt completed for a while now. They are, as far as I can tell, filling up the gaps and polishing some stuff. Which is a lot of work, but *feels* like there is little-to-no progress. I read the progress notes on Steam (where I own the game), which come quarterly and they always feel ..barebones. (not helped by adding stuff that I am not that interested in :D)

Only reason why I think the updates are still a lot of work is because I work in IT myself and I know that seemingly small updates can be a lot of work. ^^'

Not sure how the communication is on the Discord, but the Steampage does feel neglected.

I mean it is what it is when it comes to the game. But this can't be a legit question? What do you mean what's the good in venting? Exactly as it sounds.... to vent. And possibly find fellow venters to circle jerk about it. Comradery in hating if you will, as is the will of the internet. The same you could find in just about every single thread on this site. Like what side of the internet or this very website are you coming from? Some people can be well adjusted and move on. Some gotta drop undies, take a dump on the floor and roll around in it.

And we must bare witness to it all!

Venting is good... if you don't vent the pressure things will inevitably pop. Venting is like taking a dump, gotta let some of that shit out or your bowels get impacted and you die.

And really, there's no denying that Seeds of Chaos has taken far too much time for too little content.

I don't get why everyone's complaining when this is the rule for ALL patreon games (at least for wegs). They are meant to be milked by design because patreon allows it since they need their 10% tax for every patreon paying so they have absolutely no incentive to finish the game unless their patreons start unsubscribing. Either find something else or wait 10 years because unless you make their patreons to stop giving them money this is not gonna change any time soon.
Now in my defense for the makers I kinda understand why they do this since who's to say after finishing the game they will get any more money? Maybe some steam sales but that's it. They'll have to release a new game and that takes time and effort and who knows if it generates the same amount of money as the previous one. It's a big risk that in our current time anyone in their shoes wouldn't take especially if they have a family.

The incentive is selling another game on Steam. Patreon is not going anywhere even if they start with ACT 2

How about the people like me who check in every couple of years and still 0 progress has been made on the main story. I understand an infinite number of issue can delay a game's development progress, but come on now. There are excuses... and then there are EXCUSES. I'm usually one to side with the dev, but in this one case, I just can't. It's unacceptable no matter how you look at it. Defend the indefensible if you wish, but I ain't playing along.

The issue is, the main story for ACT 1 is done. I haven't played it in ages, but as far as I can remember the conquering of the big city (forgot name) is the finale of Act 1. It is the side stuff (and CGs) they are filling in with some mechanical reworks that takes this time. And this is something that will feel unsatisfactory, since the stuff they do add is only for a part of the games players.

I do think a good chunk of the issue is actually intransparent project management and lack of communication for Steam buyers and people who do not subscribe to them.
Having a roadmap, fixed patch dates and explaining delays would really help imho.

Well I did say:
I can't help but feel like a lot of people would be happier if you just checked in on the game once every 6-12 months.
So I would argue that you are taking the right approach if you want to keep following the progress of the game while minimizing your frustration.

But as I said in that same post and FoxOfEmbers reiterated, due to poor management early in development the main story was 95% done years ago while almost one of the side content was done. All that is left to do is to write a couple of epilogue scenes to tie it directly into part 2, and that will probably be the very last thing they do for part 1.

Early on the devs promised a lot of side content with out realizing how long it was actually going to take to make, and many of the early devs had a tendency to work on pet projects rather than the actual promised content. So currently the development is focused on catching up on delivering all that promised content before capping it off. Now you might say that they clearly bit off more than they could chew and they should have cut their loses and just wrapped up part 1. And honestly I would be somewhat inclined to agree with that view.

But when they polled their patrons, they pretty overwhelmingly voted to finish all the promised side content. Now that poll was years ago, and I don't think either the devs or the patrons realized how long it was going to take to complete all that content. But considering their patreon is holding steady I think it is safe to say that most of the people funding the game's continued development are, if not happy, at least accepting on the current state of affairs.

And as long as the patrons are accepting there isn't a lot of reason to change course. Arguing with a bunch of pirates on a pirating website isn't going to change anyone's mind. If you want to change the course of development, your best course of action would be to join their patreon, get in the discord, and then arguing to change the minds of the other patrons. But anyway you look at it money is were the influance is.
