Yes I don't know about this. Making AVN's is a creative enterprise, and one without an institutionalised industry, like say being a novelist (publishers, agents, reviewers, tours...), so stability/continuity is not guaranteed. I mean even those working in established creative industries often have to supplement their income with a day job well into their careers and there's tons of films about careers faltering after initial success.
If it were me, unless I know I can get a job again and my time away from the profession won't be counted against me as a loss of experience (poor career-mothers lol), I'd compromise to find a balance rather even at the cost of productivity rather than risk my future prospects.
Then agian what do I know, this is the age of influencers and all that type of work I don't quite understand, and it does seem if one's parents are upper middle class who invested/saved smart the nontraditional career path might be sustainable for a couple decades. No idea what happens after middle-age though
