Wouldn't it be better to try to make the game in RPG maker

RenPy is more about visual novels, how do you make the fusions work?
It's doable if you only focus more on the dialogue, dating sim, and lightly on the exploration.
That said, I do agree RPGM would've been the better choice for an SMT inspired game, especially now that there are plugins that have systems inspired by SMT in the form of the 'talk' command and PTB system.
Well, you could event the crap out of a 'talk' system I guess, but that's way too much work so plugins all the way.
There's also a lot more plugin utility to better integrate VN aspects too so yeah... it'd be the more logical choice to me if battles were more of a thing a la classic SMT games
But, if you're only focused on courting them and don't need to beat them within an inch of their life to get them hot and bothered, then simple QTE's and dialogue should work... which you could also do in RPGM too but... well, whatever floats your boat.
Personally, there's too much of a bias 'against' RPGM made games here even though ppl bitch, piss and moan about things like the 'lack of variety' in games being made and shared here...
I love RPGM though I do have both it and Ren'Py. I just found RPGM serves what I'm looking to make more.
