Should I make a Marvel fan-game, or one set in an original superhero setting?

I've got an idea for a side-project of mine, a noncommercial fan-game set in the Silver Age Marvel universe. The protagonist - a student at Midtown High with Peter Parker, Flash Thompson, Liz Allen, etc - develops energy manipulation powers to steal or bestow energy with a touch - something greatly enhanced by sexual activity. The game would cover the development of their powers against a backdrop of the events of early Marvel comics (Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Thor, X-Men).

As currently planned, it'd be text-based and written in Twine as an HTML game. I know that there are "parody" fan-games that are straight up commercial projects, but I'd probably set up a tip jar at the most.

However.

I could take the basic idea, strip away the Marvel IP, come up with a superhero setting, and develop it as a commercial project around the same general character and progression. This I'd develop in Ren'Py as a VN using visual assets created in Daz. So while it would lack the Marvel tie-in (sort of the point of the initial idea) it'd have the benefit of visuals... and I'm not really sure anybody cares about 60-year old comics.

Opinions and feedback on my options here are appreciated.

I don't know man, the Mouse may chew your ass but if you are fine with not having a Patreon or stuff like that you should be fine.
