Hi man you can better define what you want?
for exemple you wanna a image on left or right side of a screen (like an visual novel) or left ou right side of the textbox ( in a smaller size)
by the way you can do something like this:
image ann standard :
"patch/ann.png"
size(x,y)
image side ann standard :
LiveCrop (x, y, width, height), "ann standard "
define l = Character("Ann", image="ann")
after that just use 'show ann standard'

Renpy didn't recognize Ann and Lucy, you need to use "a" and "l" (the names you defined) :
define a = ...
define l = ...
