I meant more like, at least in my perception of things, that this is a passion project.
Whatever it is I think if this was a hobby we would not get monthly updates.
But that is just me and my assumptions, who am I to predict someones actions irl?

Well, you can be passionate about something and actually monetize it, it doesn't automaticly make it your job. In fact there's even a saying that it's not a job if you like doing what you do.
Still, dev has been quite punctual if it comes to updates, I say next week we hear from them.

My god this website is really teaching me patience.
I’m currently waiting for Kunoichi Sekiren,
Princess Reconquista,
Goblin nest (it got annouced on steam),
monthly Wild Life updates,
Vampire Knight, although… there’s no contact with dev, I think it’s probably abandoned, It’s a shame because its equal if not better than Kunoichi for now…
And other games that well.. got stuck in development. And Kunoichi will soon get it’s first year anniversary since last demo, right?

I didn't know of the Goblin Nest, it looks like fun management game, thanks for bringing it up.
And yeah, Kunoichi Sekiren is taking some time, but the updates are at least meaningful and seem to be pshing the game forward. Some games updates are just bug fixes or more animations, without actually adding to the gameplay itself.
