They just gonna tell you to buy the game again.
I tried telling the artists we'd pay them in likes, but they insist on $$

So, we either sell the game so we can pay them, or we stop making the game.

I know this kind of logic is difficult, but that's what they teach in business of game-making 101 at university.

See this is why higher education sucks! Everyone knows that head pats, compliments, and old candy found at the bottom of a purse. Are a lot more valuable then likes. If you had someone like me on the team. I would've had those artists taken care of and properly compensated. Push come to shove, could've offered SLIGHT hand holding to sweeten the deal.

But money works too.... I guess.

So I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that if I buy the game on Steam, I won't be able to sync up with all the progress I made on 0.3.9? Can anyone clear that up for me?

Savegames are compatible, so that's not a problem.

(They're also cross-platform, in case you move between PC/Mac/Android/Linux).

With Steam you also get Steam Sync, in case that's useful to you.

I got tired of waiting for someone to give me a link to the music source, so I decided to unpack music myself. That's it, great, it took a lot of time to find the copper, but what I found is gold.

Plan is to hit the default branch on Thursday; we're testing now (stuff like the new potions, etc).

The itch.io and non-steam links should update early next week, once we've gotten more eyes on that. Likely an Android build before that, since it needs testing separately.
I thought you were updating the game on this site regularly as well, is that not the case?

OP here indicates version 0.3.9a which was released on July 6th, which is 3 1/2 months ago. You're currently up to version 0.8.1b.

Even if there is some delay behind updating versions here as you want to keep the most recent versions for paying customers, how often do you plan on updating this site's version?

Semi-regularly. Supporters have told us they don't feel there's much reason to support, since they can get it for free anyways (and considering we're putting out two good 2D games in parallel, with each having updates every 5-6 weeks, and making just 3K/month on Patreon, they likely have a point).

I think in general the market has changed a lot; F95zone used to be a great source of support and feedback. I don't know if that's still the case. Looking at this thread; it's got 6 reviews, very little interaction, and the most common topic is "when are you giving us an update for free" (or, why are we so evil as to ask people to support development). At least there's not a lot of people accusing us of milking, since we're consistently adding content, and people can see it in development.

Obviously, to me *personally*, this is sad as hell. I started out making adult games because I got inspired by this place, and my first game was just free. My second game (Love of Magic) was initially totally free, without a Patreon or monetization attached, but then the Pandemic happened, and I lost my job (which led to setting up a Patreon, and eventually launching it on Steam). The alternative would have been getting a job flipping burgers or code.

For Flexible Media I don't call all the shots; I have to justify to my partners why we're uploading the games we spend money on here, instead of selling them on Steam. I used to be able to say that it was good marketing, and helped grow our Patreon, but... well.

As for when the next update comes out? Probably sometime in November. I can't just take the August or September builds and upload them, since there's bug-fixes and improvements that have come in since then; getting bug-reports on stuff we fixed 3 months ago gets old. So I'd need to take the current build, neuter it, test that, then build that for 5 platforms and upload each of those to 5 mirrors. Which is work, when we're crunching like hell (we have 3 builds each for Sinners Landing and Paradise Lust 2 between now and Xmas, marking Halloween, Autumn Sale and Winter Sale). In addition I'm personally hard at work to get Morningstar ready for release on 11/11.

Probably a longer answer than you wanted, but hopefully that helps.

Naw, I understand where you're coming from.

So, did you start Flexible Media yourself once development of the games became more than a one man team?

There are plenty of games I have found through this site that have been abandoned by developers but I have to imagine some of the people that come through here actually pay for a game if they find enough enjoyment in it. Hell, some even continue funding long dead projects if they enjoy the game so much. (Here's looking at you Monster Girl Island)

You may have divulged before but why aren't you listing your company's games on Steam? Steam take too much or they're not allowed on it?

EDIT: Sorry, you apparently are on Steam, after all. I don't see a strike through option so disregard that part.

Also, I wouldn't spend any of your time even neutering the game/version you're uploading here due to it being outdated or not and the version people would be playing here might try and be reporting old bugs/issues. Just tell this place, if you're playing this old, free outdated version, any bugs you may be experiencing won't be considered because it's you know, an outdated version. Only recent versions of the game bugs will be considered. You're already doing a solid as it is uploading them here.

We're absolutely on steam, and it's where we make enough to sustain development; no way we could run a 20 man team on 3K/month Patreon :)

For Flexible Media:

I used to work in normie games; I got burned out on F2P bullshit, which is why I started making free porn games as a hobby. When the Pandemic hit, the job stopped paying, so I needed to find another way to pay for rent and noodles. Which led to Love of Magic going up on Steam (and saving me from having to apply for a job flipping burgers).

Currently my own project is Morningstar: Book of the Fallen, which should be done on 11/11 (touch wood).

For Droid Productions I do code/art/design/writing/etc; it's a nice change of pace from being a pure programmer, and it's taught me tremendous amounts of stuff.

At some point I approached my normie colleagues and convinced them to join me on the dark side; that's where Flexible Media came from. For Flexible I act as a producer and coder, I don't do any of the writing or art (thankfully; I can't draw 2D to save my life). I also occasionally do game design, so the card battle mechanic of Sinners Landing is a collaboration between me and Chase.

I believe more reviews and engagement will come soon for Sinners. I really love it, and have promised myself to post a raving review. I have got both the PL's, on Steam, not the Sinners yet. The current one here is a bit light to review yet maybe.
There are quite a few "give me free" and "we need a hero" posters, but besides them there are a lot here that love to support the artists. I believe good work needs to be rewarded.
I dont really know what makes a thread more active, The "What a Legend" got loads, but mostly people asking if it is abandoned and memes, but i believe still a 12 k a month patreon.
But keep it up, with stuff like PL1 and Sinners you at least got my support and steam contributions.

I mean im saying in the best possible, theres not really much to discuss, the plot of this harem games are very linear, you dont have paths where you are picking one girl over other, you always end up fucking everyone in the end...
I noticed the upload of both this game and Paradise lust 2 are slower now and i get it,devs want to make money for their hard work...
At least people are not sniping and releasing the game for free here minutes or hours after they are released like it happens in other popular games.

Generally, posts on f95zone fall into one of several categories:
  1. Questions about when the next update will be.
  2. Wars between developer defenders and people pointing out developer laziness (these types of posts make up about 90% of the threads in Summertime Saga, What a Legend, Aurelia).
  3. Questions about how to do something in the game because someone is stuck.
  4. Questions/suggestions about future content. When will a certain girl get content, or suggestions on which one should get it. Occasionally, there are suggestions about fetishes, mostly incest and pregnancy.
  5. Very rarely, I see discussions about the already existing content.
As for this thread (or PL2): I regularly see posts of type 1 here, but I don’t see posts of type 2 at all because updates are frequent, and besides, Droid probably doesn’t want that kind of popularity :).
Posts of type 3 are also rare because, as you said, PL and SL are fairly simple games, and it’s hard to get stuck. Occasionally, someone might get stuck in PL1 by only developing a relationship with one girl or by not doing any activities. So, the lack of such posts isn’t an indicator of anything either.

However, the small number of posts of type 4 and 5 is puzzling, although I do remember that there used to be suggestions in the PL1 thread about which country the next girl should come from, so people seemed somewhat interested in that. But there weren’t an overwhelming number of them either.
And the small number of reviews is also surprising (though I’ve been planning to write my own for about half a year now).

If observing this community has taught me anything, it's that it's better to sell promises than an actual product (this is common in marketing).

Droid, tell Sven to draw the highest quality images, with everything included, even pregnant girls. Create a giant map that suggests there will be tons of content. Make an amazing prototype of the game, so technically advanced that you know there’s no chance of finishing it (besides, people here don’t care about finished games, just the next update. How many people ask when the game will be finished versus how many ask about the next update?). This prototype will look great, with a few beautiful scenes featuring a busty mom or sister, and tons of pop-ups saying "This will be in the next update". I suspect that Patreon numbers would go up, and you could then release some content once a year. Content you’d probably work on for a month at most.

There will probably be an uproar in the thread (rightfully so) about why you’re slacking off, but life teaches us that there will be a few defenders who will protect you like their own child, and in that way, the thread will become popular.

It’s very sad, but based on my 4 years of observation, that’s how it is.

That is, the vast majority of developers don't suffer from laziness, but from being overly ambitious. However, that doesn't change the point.

That one was surprisingly captivating. The version here doesn't have too many incentives to keep going back, but I hope it'll change in future updates, along with higher difficulty runs and option to choose companions. But time is limited and the mythical man hour is preciously needed on the main draw of the game (pun intended).

I've loved the games so far and other than the specific trope of porn industry backrooms being inspiring and wholesome, I've loved the witty writing, awesome characters and chill minigames. My highest regards to the team, as this is the best I can currently offer. I agree F95 has changed and not for the better. Back then I would've argued that if nothing else, developer uploads thwart patreon version leaks, but even that isn't always true (e.g. Park After Dark) even though leaks in general have greatly reduced in numbers. I wish you and your team a-many of success.

It's already had a bunch of additional content added; more allies, more monsters, more cards (and better balancing). It's obviously still a work in progress, but it's getting there. We're right now working on the second biome (the Forest), in addition to higher tier dungeons for the mines.

As you can see from the post above, there's already an orc girl and soon you will be able to have sex with her. It doesn't change a fact that game where you have to wait 2 years for orc update is more popular.

BTW Droid Productions , do you have plans to add dwarf/hobbit girl?

Already two sex scenes with her (The river raft blowjob scene in June and the Oily ceremony scene in September). And yeah, Pog's adorable.

No plans for a dwarf/hobbit, no.
