Yes.

It takes two simple actions: first, don't hire/enslave anyone new until you have the expected rent for the next rental payment plus $1000 ... or expect to be able to gather the next rent payment just from the slave(s) you already have on hand ... after you've paid the grand for the new slut.

The same goes for any expenditure of cash; ALWAYS be sure you can make the rent next time around.

Second, save before you explore the town, do bookkeeping, or visit whatsername's office. You should be doing this anyway just to avoid energy loss for performing worthless actions. Yes, I'm suggesting the dreaded savescumming. It's just ... necessary in this kind of completely RNG-dependent game.

EDIT: You should actually never, ever bother with bookkeeping unless you're in a dire "I can't afford my rent" emergency; if you spend all your energy on improving your whores and regularly (when you can afford it) improve your Kitchen for more energy, you'll do much, MUCH better in the long run.

You can reduce the resolution and play in Windowed mode, I think, and that often fixes this problem, at least according to the author over at TFGames. I wouldn't know for certain, however; I have no problems with running the game.

Also, the author is working on fixing this for everyone having this problem, so don't give up on the game just yet.
