Some advice for a project.

Hi everyone, I've posted in the wrong place but here goes.
I am SeroSwell12 and I'm working on a project while learning the basics of the Ren'Py engine.
Anyway, I asked the permission of the Pixiv User and Koikatsu character creator: KaosKatsu (Here's the link:

) to use their version of Aqua for the project and they were quite alright with it. (Though this was a few months ago.)

However, I'm not the best with keeping a constant workflow as I have made quite a few fanfics that I've never completed, so I am hoping for the best but don't be surprise if I give it up one day.
This is the progress I've made so far, and I would love you hear your advice to improve on the renders and maybe learn more about the engine.

Also, I am using my Steam Deck for a replacement for my laptop that's has a screwed up charging port.

PS: I've made the Skull logo for the game.

Yep, keep doing what you are doing (digging in and learning as you go) about 250 more times, then you'll get closer to making a first release. There's one constant of making a game (or any worthwhile project, really): weeks and months of grinding. And if it's your first attempt then you are also learning as you go, so the quality will improve but you'll realise how much more you need to do on your first outputs to also get them up to the standard you want. So keep at it!

Okay, here's some more screens of progress I've made so far. (Not too much, but it's getting there!)
Also, Two things I'm having issues with at the moment, The main menu is giving me issues as I can't figure out how to fully edit the screen and I would like some links for royalty free music for this game. (Just some generic stuff at the moment.)

So any advice for these questions?

There's a detailed thread about sources of royalty free music in either the "Dev help" or "Dev tools" subforums under this one. Use your google-fu and I'm sure you'll find it.

Regards your menu issue: I'd suggest to create a new thread specifically about your issue in the "dev help" subforum. Paste your *relevant* code (using the code formatting tool in the toolbar above so it preserves indents properly) and explain the problem and what you want to achieve. there are several devs who regularly drop in to help out, as long as you provide enough info and ask nicely.

Wow, I can't imagine having to use a steam deck as a primary pc. That's gotta make things a bit difficult even in desktop mode with a monitor/mouse and keyboard set up with it. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be able to get your laptop's cable fixed soon!

Sorry for not being active for a bit. Been busy with some minor life stuff for the entire month.
Might have an new idea for my first game being a series of short stories where the main character gets a modeling job that escalates to being in a porno.
(think of Kogeikun's short comic where Wendolin takes an acting role for a dark souls parody, but with a different girl for each entry.. Still figuring out from there.)

Also, I kept forgetting, though the female characters are from the KH series, it's more of an alternate take of them, so it's not a hundred percent parody. (And the males in the games are random OCs I've made for some reason.)

I'm not canceling Blue Haired Reporter but as I haven't made much progress on the game, I think trying this idea out might be a better starting point.


(Extra: My Pixiv Account got suspended again for (I think) an older post having a link to the Patreon of the original creator of the KH cards: Kaoskatsu, so besides editing his cards to fit more in line with a random user's Black Dog inspired Sailor Senshi cards for renders I haven't made yet, I might need a new site to post more works on. Plus, I'm on BlueSky but I'm Still iffy about posting all of my CharaStudio works on there. Do any of you guys and girls have any suggestions?)
